I ordered a trigger valve from turbinecentral that I thought would fit the Coleman Powermax can.
When I got it in, I noticed that the valve has a inner threaded portion that doesn't fit on the "Hex head" setup on the Powermax can..
Did I goof and get the wrong valve? I'm thinking this one is for propane. not the powermax. I COULD try to dremel out the inner threads but not to keen on doing that..
any help appreciated..
Regards..

Same here! I have one from Darryl Usher... I am just going to try find a thread adapter of some sort? I think the trigger valve is designed to fit the smaller silver Powermax bottles found only? in the U.S.
It does not fit the larger Powermax green camp stove type bottles. (different size thread) As I am in Canada and I only have the larger Powermax green camp stove type available around these parts, Ontario- via Canadian Tire and Home Depot, and the trigger valve sure does not fit them??

Ozcan,
Barclay from Turbine central got back to me and will send a replacement back out once the correct ones get in stock.
I found the Silver Colman powermax can at Oshman's here in Dallas. Suprised they wouldn't have it in Canada with all the outdoor stuff there..
Regards
Hank

Marty-
As John pointed out, the fuel in the the big green Coleman bottles from Canadian Tire is not the same as Powermax- It's just propane. To find Powermax you'll probably have to go to a good camping supply store.

I picked up my supply of PM while at FJ 2002. I stopped at the Coleman outlet store in Jacksonville.
There are actually 3 different canisters from Coleman. One is the standard size, brushed aluminum like we all see at the fields. Another is made for smaller cook stoves and looks identical, except it is about 1/2 size, for the light backpacker.
There was a third type which come in a can similar to the standard Coleman green propane, but with a slightly different shape and green color. I had to look twice myself. It has a different connector than the brushed aluminum cans. I would guess the volume in the can is about the same as the larger aluminum can. It fits under one of Coleman's camp stoves, which is larger than their compact stoves and lamps that use the brushed aluminum cans.

Kevin, I have not seen these small brushed aluminum P/M bottles anywhere so far at the major stores... Wheres your P/M supplier located? can you find P/M in the T.O area. I could ask them for P/M source in Canada...

Marty,
I'll get the name of my source. As I said before, it's an independant camping supply store, not a major chain store. Specialty camping shops are really your best bet. (Or maybe surplus stores that carry camping equipment. I know there was at least one in Belleville.)

Go to www.coleman.com. In search, type in Powermax and it will bring up the fuel you are looking for. 300g can. They have an phone # 1-800-835-3278. Called them and you can order directly from them. You have to buy a case of 12 for $36.00 plus shipping of $5 and change plus a haz mat charge of $15.00. That comes out to about $4.50 per can. Here in Austin, we are paying $4.00 per can plus tax. So the price my mail including haz mat is not out of line. Maybe you can get two or three together and buy the case.
Hope this helps

The link above doesn't show the can I am using though. Its blue, filled with a propane/butane mix and after it runs out, its commonly used as outer casings for homebuilt KJ-66's. That's what I got em' for in the first place actually. Its about twice the height of the short gray one.
Marty, I have seen the shorter gray can that fit the usher valve at C Tire. Maybe the stock is different in your store but have another look...
The other start fuel we use is the green canisters with a propane torch valve on the end. We remove the nozzle and replace it with a flow restricting orifice and a 4mm Festo/Pisco/SMC hose connector. I'm impartial to either one.
