I moved it to the tank this afternoon pending investigation. It is based on the following alert ticket with names x'ed out for protection.
The thread originator was notified by PM that the thread was removed.

I understand why it was removed but we all have the right to know what is going on in a timely matter,
There is a lot of money spent in this hobby and a lot more will be , but if this goes thru there will be a lot of stuff out there that will become exspensive garage sale items...............JOHN

It was removed pending my investigation. I've placed a request to my contact at AMA and would hopefully get a reply by tomorrow. I do not think that 24 hrs delay will hurt you that bad and thanks in advance for your understanding.
Best Regards
Ben

My bad!!. I thought my first statement in post #5 which stated “I moved it to the tank this afternoon pending investigation" was self explanatory. Next time I will go into more full details when I post my replies.
Again, I am awfully sorry for not going into full details. Next time, I will only reply when I have enough time to go into full detailed explanation,
Ben

I think you did the right thing, in that so far, it has been nothing but a rumor, I have seen nothing at all to indicate it is anything but completely made up(I don't know if it is, or it isin't) but it will be a much more interesting conversation later on when there are some actual FACTS about it.

Hi,
I agree with John, if it goes through, it'll end almost all the turbine events in the US, which, IMHO will have an negative impact on turbine modeling as a whole.
We'll have to see how this whole thing shakes out, but, having dealt with the FEDS in the past, I'm not too optimistic on a positive outcome.
BRG,
Jon

All of his events are at airports. Would hate to see what the price would be to register for a FT event if he had the only place to fly!
At any rate, it would not be the end of flying, but it sure would make it a lot harder for an awful lot of guys, myself included.
But I think it's a pretty pointless conversation, without knowing anything at all about what the truth is.

Does everybody really need an "airport" to launch/recover their stuff? Shame, shame ... [8D] "Up" here in CO we have to suffer/get by with 650 x 50 runways (when you can find one at a nonhostile location) and density altitude sometimes approaching 10K+. I'm not whining or thumbing my nose but, for us, not having an airport to fly off of is a fact of life already.
Otherwise, it will be interesting to see what Ben, super snooper of the thruth, can dig up if anything. (I think the fundamental problem is that the Feds may not want anything they [even partially] funded closed to its primary purpose.)
Cheers.

After further review, it was confirmed that the original post was accurate. Yes FAA is now trying to impose limitations or total ban on airport use for Jet Events.
In consideration with the foregoing, I am going to restore the original thread later this afternoon. I would ask that we exercise caution and watch what we post here as this is a delicate issue and anything we say may be used against us by the FEDS

Ok, now i will post, This Cant be JUST rc-jets, makes no sense, it would have to be either a total BAN on flying any RC aircraft at a full scale airport at any time OR it would just be a ban on having to CLOSE an airport to have an RC event... We need to figure out which.. Russ

] With your magical powers as a moderator, might I suggest a title change to the thread if nothing else?So ... Back to what Russ mentioned earlier: Is the issue the use of airports by radio controlled, kersosene-burning turbine model jet aircraft or the use of airports by any radio-controlled model aircraft? Or do we wait for the original thread to be restored to ask this question.
Hang in.

RE: this issue, I have established communication with my DVP last night and intend to pursue all avenues of recourse via the AMA. Will keep everyone informed (other than ET, he needs video or something)!

I contacted Dave Mathewson to find out if he has any additional information. I have a feeling that the AMA is going to keep this close to the vest and there won't be a lot of info coming from them.
I wonder if this was initiated over the Prado incident?
I was just on the FAA's website and nothing's been posted yet.

FWIW, it is not only Jets. It is any RC related airplane activity at any Federal funded airport that would necessitate full or partial airport closure.
