Tommy, thanks for the pics. Very nice job in yours. Mine will be power by a P-80.

Kraivuth, again thanks for the info.

And Dean we'll keep in touch.

Thanks guys for the nice comments. Ronnie, you know I'm a sucker for a Panther, can never have to many of those "heavy" metal scale warbirds.
Kraivuth, it really is a beautiful kit and you have done a fantastic job with it, everything fit together very nicely and the instruction book is very good. I am sure it will fly as good as the built up Ziroli Panther I am flying now. It will be a few eeks before I get it in the air, but it will be dispalyed at a local show next week hopefully.
Avicom, you will not be dissapointed with this plane, it is very nice and the airframe feels very strong, although I favor the 600R (since I own a couple of them), you should have a good combination with the P-80.

What kind of set up are you using to sequence the gear doors? As far as I know the front doors remain open with gear down but the mains close.

Thanks

I'm also like to know about gear sequence. I know that ultra precision have an upvalve that close the doors when gear is down but forget wich one is. If there any simple method? Also what servos are you using?

Thanks

Yeah, there are three sets of doors on the Panther. The front doors open, the gear extends, and they remain open. The miains are a little more complicated. The inner mains open, the gear extends, and the inner mains close. The outer mains open with the gear and remain open. I used two MiniHobby gear door sequencers hooked to a Y-harness. The first one goes to the main inner doors. They are programmed to open when the gear is deplyed, pause 5 seconds and then close. At the same time the other sequencer opens the front doors, waits two seconds and then oepns the main retract valve, thus deploying the gear. (three seconds later the inner main gear doors close, this gives the gear time to deploy). Everything reverses when the switch is thown the other way. Took a little while of playing around with the sequencer to get it all right, but when it is set up you don't have to worry about it any more. There may be another way, but this worked for me.
The doors are already cut out in the kit, you will need to hinge them. I used the servos recommended by Kraivuth in the manual and in our conversations. The gear valves are operated by mini servos. The inner gear doors are opearted by a HD ultra torgue servo with 4-40 rods and a large servo wheel. It is as strong as small pistons and allowed me to program exact amount of throw using my radio.
I have a set of the Jet ttonics gear door/gear sequencers but I saved them for another project, I am not familiar with the UP valves, other than the UP-6, but I hear they work great. They would not have worked for me in this case since I used a servo instead of the pistons.
This is not a difficlut plane to set up and you can take it as far as you wish, scale wise. it is very simple to rig, since most everything is already hinged or set up and all you do is install the servo. The mounts are already in place, or made for you.

Hey Nick, nice work so far. That is the original (version 1) of the PST Panther of the original five I purchased from Kraivuth a while back. The one you have, as I understand it, was the basis or originator of the new all composite model. They are about the same size, but the new version has all the panel lines and a removeable canopy/cockpit. You need to quit working on this Panther though and get back to the A-6..
Talk to you soon,
Tommy

I'm sure it will!!!

I'm on the fence about asking Dean to put me on the waiting list for one.
I just took delivery of the new Tamjets F-16 and Dean is shipping out a new PSTJ600R today for it.

Good luck with it!

If you could would you mind sending me a couple of jpegs via E:mail?
I would like to add them to my collection.

[email protected]

Thanks
Bob

Good luck with the F-16, I am envious and would like to have one of those myself. You will love the little 600. I have a couple of them and I really like them, they give great performance and I have had no issues with service.
Will send you some pics to your email later.

Thanks Tommy!

This is my second one. The first one sits in a Baby Boomerang.

Great engine! I had a fuel pump failure at the 1.5 hour mark.

Seal leakage around the motor shaft let Kerosene into the motor windings.. Luckily it was on the ground when it happend.

Wow, you did get lucky. I had a flame out due to a bearing failure in my Ziroli Panther. I was about 80 feet high on climb out when it happened. Scared the crap out of me. I made a turn and got back to the runway with no problem. John from FTE was there with another engine and they replaced it for me. They won my business for good. It pushes my big Ziroli Panther around with no problem. I also have one on a Boomerang and that is a great little combination.

Hello

For your information. This is a copy of my Panther kit built and sold by my in the late 90' and later. I remember ther was sold a kit thru Rune Nessen/PST earlier. I think it was in 2000. Short afther copy of the kit was sold from PST and they sold them as their own kit. Please, dont take credit for other people works.

Cato,
You are mistaken as to the origins of the PST kit. The Panther PST is selling was designed by me and Pornchai at PST. We started this project nearly 2 years ago. The plugs and molds were made by us based on our design. The design is not derived from your kit, nor have I ever seen one of your kits. A set of published 3 views and a series of photos of a Panther were used as reference, the airfoils are the same NACA series as used on the original Panther. The design and kit were done from the ground up, and were geared to be used with our 600R engine. I suspect you have not seen our kit, and I am sure your comment was simply an oversight on your part, but it would be helpful to be a bit more careful prior to making such statements.

Cato--You don't know what you are talking about--The new PST Panther kit s NOTHING like your OLD kit--The only thing in common is that they are the same scale....You have sold the rights to your kit to someone else..And the right to criticize...Sorry if this seems harsh....If you had a kit to produce then you MIGHT have a dog in this hunt---Why don't you produce a kit of PST's caliber and THEN you might have a gripe...Put up or shut up... In the past, here in the states, for years there have been numerous guys begging for a Panther in the size that you modeled....I, for one, have been one of those guys...PST has done a wonderful job with their Panther...Someday I will own one.[8D] PST's kit is a MUCH more prefabricated kit than your kit ever was..Look at PST's kit on their website...You WILL see a BIG difference!!!

Cato,
Just to be clear if you re-read the post you referred to, it was not put up by PST, and the man specifically says it was not bought from PST. The fuse in the picture bears no resemblence to our kit.
Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding.

I was referring to the new PST Panther---Which IS what this thread is all about...I KNOW FOR A FACT this this plane is NOT a splash of Cato's plane---Just look at it!!! When Cato made his accusations he did not specify what plane/picture he was referring to....Anyone reading his post would think that Cato was talking about the new PST Panther....As for the older Panther that Cato was referring to in the picture with the EuroFighter....Who knows if it is a copy of Cato's plane---As far as put up or shut up, I've proven my point that the new PST Panther is not a copy of Cato's Panther---Sorry for being so vocal and harsh but you have to understand that all that responded thought Cato was responding to the new PST Panther..

I misread the original post and stated incorrectly that Cato sold the rights to his Panther.

Hello again Kevin
In Cato`s first reply he has quoted doc yates, and there it says (version 1) the original. So how you got that to be the newest Panther, well i dont know. There is a PST panther kit(version 1) here in Norway, and Cato recognises his own plane. So the first PST Panther is a copy of the kit that Cato made.
