i used a two blade apc, it probably toped off at 90-100mph (gear retracted) in a shallow dive, it fly's little slower dirty, for some reason my little ys dose not like the 10x7 prop i only got 14,500 rpm out of it, i'm hopeful that a 10x6 will get me closer to 16, i might order a 9x7 zinger, but i never tried a wood blade to try to achieve speed, i'v been flying low and slow gas 3-D all summer but this little nitro jet has thrown the speed monky on my back.
i can't hardly wait until Friday, in fact i think my big planes will stay home all weekend.

I just talked to Vernon Montgomery down in Miss. He test flew his today with a os 61. He was really excited about the flights. Maybe he'll chime in and tell ya'll about his flights. That make 2 thathave flown that I know of so far.I'm planning a marathon Friday night . Hope to test fly mine on Sunday!!!!!

MUGENKIDD: i secured my wings with a screw in the main wing tube, but now IF i could get them off i would glue them permanent.
MFG says to glue them.

The wall of the wing tube is too thin to tap and use straight up, soon the threads will strip out. The solution is to place a wood dowel inside the tube's ends. Glue these inplace before drilling and tapping. Remember to harden the threads in the wood with some Cya. The wing will need some attention where the wing bolt hole is, so it on't crush when the bolt is tightened.
My plan is to install a #8-32 blindnut in the wing just in front of the 4mm anti-rotation pin. Then put a point on a 8-32 socket set screw, put the screw into the nut, and put the wing back on and the point of the screw will mark the fuse where to drill the clearance hole. On the inside of the fuse I will glue in a "fender washer" for the socket head screw to bare down on. A "fender washer" is larger in diameter compared to the standard washer. It will distribute the load better. A 1/4" drive ratchet with a hex bit will be used to tighten the screw.

I was with Vernon Montgomery down here in MS today for the flight of his Bobcat and the 3rd and 4th flight on my yellow Long EZ 46 I bought from Raidentech. I did a copy and paste from the Long EZ thread here:
It was also an afternoon for the maiden flight of a fellow club members new "Bobcat" ARF----he used an OS 61FX for power and it really scoots! Word of caution though with that one---apparently they intended for the builder to epoxy the wings onto the fuselage---it uses an aluminum wing tube and small rod (similar to our Long EZs but the small rod is near the leading edge of the wing) yet has NO connection for the wings to the fuselage! While running the engine up on the ground, at full throttle the left wing would seperate from the fuselage about 1/2 to 3/4 inch and stay that way until power was reduced to idle, where the left wing would then slide along the tube/rod back to the side of the fuselage.....and the right wing would then move out the 1/2 to 3/4 inch away from the side of the fuselage! They wound up putting a #64 rubber band around the fuselage pushing it back over the leading edge of the wing to fly it.
And since you guys with the Bobcat are discussing methods of fixing the wings to the fuselage so you can dismantle the plane, and seeing Vernons' Bobcat today, I thought about the method used in my Sig Somethin' Extra----cut a slot in each side of the fuselage just a bit behind the leading edge of the wing, and screw in and CA a "J" hook to each wing, then use a rubber band between the J hooks to keep the wings tight against the fuselage. Are you suggesting that reaching down in the fuselage to the same point where you could loop a rubber band around a pair of J hooks would be easier to place a bolt through a fender washer, much less get that bolt started before you put a 1/4" drive ratchet (where you will probably have to have one hand holding the ratchet onto the bolt and the other one working the ratchet back and forth)....easier?

One thing Dave, Vernon had to change is CG from 9 to 9 3/4 inch. from the LE. When he came in to land with the CG at 9" the Bobcat ran out of elevator and the plane pancake into the runway. With the CG at 9 3/4 from the LE it was perfect.
The 61fx fly's the Bobcat but Vernon and i thinks that the OS 91 fx with the same weight and more power will be the perfect match for the little Bobcat, thats what i am going to put on mine's.

Here's a suggestion for those guys that are going to put a turbine in one. The bay where you will put the screws or rubber band is full of fuel tanks so you can't do it that way. Vernon says to glue a dowel next to the rib (a square motor mount beam might work better), drill through the block into the aluminum wing tube, thread the tube and secure the wing with a plastic screw. I have a Katana done that way and it works fine. It also has a dowel in the wing tube where it is tapped to better hold it.

If anyone is looking for a 10" to 12" 3 bladed pusher props Zinger (www.zingerpropeller.com) makes them. Thier system uses individual blades in a machined center hub. I just bought a three blade 11-8 prop to put on my Magnum 75 2 stroke for my Bobcat.

so I can not post pictures. I can email the engine mounting if
you provide me an email to [email protected]. My
Bobcat is powered by a Jet Joe JJ1400, and will be fixed gear.
If the first one is succesfull, then I will do the 2nd with retracts.
I will carry about 65 to 70 oz's of fuel and have a speed brake
under the bottom like the hot spot. I am using BVM brakes on
the mains. Hope this helps. If this plane flys like my converted
turbine Long EZ 46 it will be a rocket and fun to fly.

The reason I ask is that there is a place in the UK that imports the kit (pointed out to me by the manufacturer)
and they want £185 + £10 postage ($361 or 2152DKK or 288 Euro)!! [:'(]

Hey bob, I was going to shoot some automotive clear but did not. I shot some Polyurethane clear over the fuse. I did wet sand the fuse just a tad, as if you sand it very much, you will take all the paint off. I used the polyurethane in a spray can. It does tend to leave the color white a off white, but I have the yellow one and it actually made the yellow match the covering a little better.
I would test the area back where the engine goes. I think you will be ok. Just spray it on back there and give it about 15 minutes. I think you will find it will be ok.
