Default PPG paint confusion

OK, so I'm going to use the base coat/clear coat system for my next painting project and I can't seem to figure out the PPG Concept vs. Omni stuff. I have some of the Omni basecoat in the col,ors I need and I think a friend has some of the Concept clear (I think its Concept). Can I use that over the Omni basecoat, or do I need to get the Omni clear coat stuff too?

Anybody have a source for Omni paints in less than 1 quart quantities? Also, anybody know the Omni number that is the closest match to International Orange (F.S. #12197)?

Thanks!
Bob

I have been using house of kolor paint from coastairbrush.com for years they sell paint in 4 and 8 oz bottles. Perfect for those small projects like ours.

I would use the Model Master paint for the Intl Orange and then coat it with the clear that you already have.

for a show quality model omni is not the way to go .poor adhesion , color match not great -you get what you pay for.spend the $3-500 for paint and look ahead to the next models and plan to use your extra from todays model thento not have any waste.ppg -dbu is easy to use and can be worked to a desired result. 2021 clear is the best out there for our model usage. dupont chroma-base is also excell. , but again also clear w/ the better 2021 ppg clear.

If you are painting a scale model do not waste your money on high-gloss PPG, eiter OMNI or whatever. use Testor's acrylics instead. Safe to use indoors too. Then, for the clear, use the high end PPG stuff.

Using PPG or OMNI works if you desire fore example, a super glossy Bandit or a Bobcat, where shininess is desirable. On a beaten down F-86, F-18, even a Thunderbird, Model Master works great.
Go to my gallery and check out my work using Testor's.

Well, I got the Omni white base coat for $25.00, so that's not too bad. Whether I use the Omni base for the International Orange or not is another question. I did find out that I can put the Concept 2021 clear coat over the Omni base, so that's what I will do, after the orange and markings are on. Thanks for the help guys!

you are apparently confused the shine COMES FROM THE CLEAR or you can use a flatening agent or a # of other ways to make a scale finish remember too that no clear at all is needed.ppg or dupont base coats can be sprayed and then wet sandein a couple of hours testers a couple days and then you will find poor adhesion when sanding

Actually that's waht I meant (what you said), if a super gloss car-like show finish is desired I would use all PPG, but for Scale Stuff I like Testor's and then PPG FlexN'Flat (or so).
