I am now seriously pissed!! According to the tracker mine is still not in the UK yet, I wish I had been offered the option of DHL, I ordered mine six weeks ago, apparently the French Post Office was on striKe all of last week. Please post some detail shots to keep us interested.
As Mark is obviously feeling lazy here a a couple of shots of the big version, it certainly looks a lot bigger than 22% larger, serious competition for the CARF Lightning.

Put me down for a big one with clear canopy and two seat cockpit, "Jolly Rogers " scheme with panel lines & rivets, full tank / ordinance package, all at cost of course
That's after you sell my Eurosport!
Rob
Should be perfect for the Merlin!

all formers are glued in with hysol
mold flash on trailing edge of one wing needs cleaning up with fine glass cloth
other than that its just a matter of following the build instructions
except that the formers for the fuse join are already fitted

Thanks for the nice clear photographs. What are your initial impressions of the kit? From the shots the landing gear looks to be of very good quality, the woodwork looks as if it would benefit from the application of some sandpaper before sealing and the intakes, quite frankly, look very rough with all that carbon cloth visible. I think that is one area I will be doing some work on. Have you bought the tail pipe and tank or are you mean like me and doing your own thing?

John. Answer you on this thread.
I have ordered one from Mark. Should be here soon. A Simjet 1700 at 19lbs is going in.
With a little tidy up, I am sure you will have it looking great.
I am also interested in the larger version. I have a new Jetcat P160 on the shelf.
Regards
Jim

formers are good the installation plate up front is a different wood
and looks like its been planed with a knife & fork but a quick rub down and some varnish will solve that
Air intakes do need an insert lip to hide the carbon something AD should be addressing in future kits
The gear is Behotec super quality nice trailing arm legs ideal for grass field flying
Ordered the tank and pipe going to start off with the Mercury in it then im going to try the Pegasus HP
looking at the airframe i think it will take it.

My thoughts exactly, I have already worked out how I am going to improve the inlets ,look forward to some more shots as your build progresses. I was going to put my Wren SS in it but I have a Merlin also looking for a home!
I hear from Mark that some of the AD kits posted at the same time as mine have been delivered today so hopefully mine is on it's way [
]
Best regards

John when you see it you wont even think Wren SS its huge
and theres enough room in front of the turbine for at least a 3.5 litre tank
If your a grass field flyer one thing it will definitely need is a fod guard and im even toying with the idea of fitting gear doors
plenty of room to do it and they will help to keep the crap out.

Sounds good. I was thinking instead of gear doors, using plastic containers of the correct diameter cut down to the appropriate depth and glued into the wheel opening from the inside. I wish Eric had incorporated some form of intake ducting even if he did not do a full bypass. From your photographs it looks like the ram air entering the fuselage will come up against a flat former and cause a lot of turbulence inside the fuselage and also slow the model down.

JOHN ...I HAVE TO DISPUTE YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT AIRFLOW,.....FROM EXPIERENCE......I'M FLYING A ROEDEL MODELS CT 114 TUTOR, NO INLETS AT ALL, PEGASUS HP, 105 INCH SPAN 42 LBS...AND THE THING HAULS ***** !! LACK OF INLETS DO NOT SLOW THIS GIANT DOWN, THE ENGLISH GUYS WHO WERE AT LAKE WALES IN NOVEMBER CAN TESTIFY TO THAT ...SO i DON'T THINK THAT LACK OF AN INLET OR BYPASS IN THE SCORPION WILL MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL ,OTHER THAN TO THE SOUND ..ERIC HAS ALWAYS FOLLOWED THE KISS PRINCIPLE AND HE IS THRILLED WITH THE WAY THE SCORPION FLYS.... JUST KEEP ADDING LIGHTNESS AND THE FASTER SHE WILL RUN,...........BY THE WAY DO YOU THINK THAT EICAS POST COULD BE TO GET ONE UP ON THE UNITED STATES AGENT (ME) WHO POSTED THE SCORPION ARRIVES POST ? IF SO A BIT CHILDISH DON'T YOU THINK ?

I will not argue with you on the speed issue, with or without bypass, but the lack of inlet ducting will certainly cause internal turbulence and buffeting inside the fusealge. On models like the Eurosport a bypass does make the model fly more smoothly and internal buffeting has been blamed on more than one Eurosport airframe failure in flight.Ie blowing off the hatch and then the wing seams.
.
I fully understand the KISS principle and am in agreement with that philosophy, unfortunately I am still also philosophising about my kit as it still appears to be "Lost in France" to quote the old song[:@]
No idea why Eicas wanted to start ANOTHER thread the Scorpion, I will only be posting on this one. Have you got your kits yet? Maybe you could send me one from the US it might get here quicker!
Best regards

John.. yup mine arrived and have gone out...... and are now lost in space......... United States Space...... seems like a bloody good airframe to me,..... with a bit of care here and there, i think it would handle a bit more power.......Hope your kit arrives ok, I did talk with Eric about all the parcels being late and he said he shipped them 21 days ago and the frog post stopped for lunch .....for two weeks....... good luck.........M

When you start the build where it says drill the holes where marked for the fuselage
halves to be bolted together DONT clamp it first and when satisfied run a pilot drill
through them
As it came two out of the four were misaligned, also put two more down each side
just for my own peace of mind.
