I am looking for info from anyone flying k-start engines, how many starts/hours do you have on your ceramic igniter/burner and anyone have to change theirs ?..If so then what was the reason and how many hours had it done ?
Just trying to find how reliable/durable they are in the long term.
TIA.

Don't know about exact flights logged, some of my people have been using the JetCat unit for most of last year without a problem.
I've sold about 50 kero set-ups and so far had one back that was faulty-it went bad on a very early start.
I think it's fantastic, much smoother start than gas-my Bandit ARF has a P80 kero and I'll fit it to all future JetCat installations.
The G-Booster is Kero only and although it uses a different set up it seems to work just aswell.
Graupner team have hundreds of starts.
Just like electric start, it is the way to go

My P-60 kero start failed after 20 starts. Was replaced under warranty by JC USA with the "new and improved" version. I switched the plane over to gas start and I'm much happier.

Having flown the Graupner Booster 160 all last year over 1000 L of fuel, I have had no failed plug on the Kerosine starter , all starts have been good and fault free no gas to carry in plane 1 less item to install and i never liked carrying cans of propane in my vehicle because of the safety implications.

I've had 5 total Kero units
2 worked flawlessly for about 20 starts. One of them even survived a crash when the engine didn't survive!!
2 worked for about 5 hours. One of them caused a failsafe on my a-10x on the ground, thank goodness. Sent it back to Jetcat got a new one. The other one went bad after about 30 min. Lost in the mail and never saw it again.
As of last year 50% failure on my kero starts. I have 2 of them now brand new that I'm willing to sell for cheap!!
Have since switched to propane and I've never looked back.

Guys
As with all new things it takes time to get perfection, I've been happy with what we have and know that it's never long before a better version will be released.

Friends,
I have a JetCat P-60 installed in my Boomerang Intro, and have been most satisfied with the performance of the kero start option (newest version I believe). Since last September, I have (75) O.K. starts, and (1) aborted start (I had just received the Boomer and forgot to turn on the fuel valve during one of my first flights.) I will be purchasing another similar sized JetCat for my current PST Panther project and will get the kero start option as well. I believe what contributes to the longevity of the plug are a couple of key items: Properly adjusted fuel flow during the start sequence, and a strong charge on the ECU battery. It typically takes between 59 to 71 seconds from when the starter motor first engages until I take command with a green LED at 50,000 RPM on my start up. I have a 6C, 1900 mAh NiCad pack for the ECU, and usually fly (3), eight minute flights per charge, plus taxi and shutdown times. The last time I was out a couple of weeks ago, it was a rare, warm, totally calm winter day. It was getting late and I decided to fly another flight after my third, without recharging. I noticed a considerable increase in the start up time, and flew for just a few minutes and landed, calling it quits. Again, I am very happy with the kero start option and have had zero problems.

lol...... who drew the first blood with your false statement with sole intention to flame, degrade, insult or embarrass me?
If you know how to dish it out, be ready to accept it when it boomerangs back to you.
This is a New Year and I do not intend go get into any unnecessary diatribe with any member. I hope with your cooperation, we can make this a reality.
Best Regards and Happy New Year.
