Wow! another MW54 based! What are the specs? Is this the prototype? Hope to see it out in April and when can we expect to see the Demon here in the US? Price?
Is this engine going to replace or compete with the T500 since FTE and TJT are together? Just curious.
See you all at FJ.

Woketman,
Is the Demon a wren clone or a new design?? Isn`t Chris Mounkley selling the PST-600 too?? Geez, there are so many 12lb thrust motors coming on line now we can have a different one for each day of the week. I understand the new jetcat will be at FJ too, its not a wren clone but new design.
Do you have any specs on this TJT motor??

Chris is not handling PST as Helijet is now. That may have been why he accelerated this project. The machined aluminum case is similar to the aluminum case on the 3000. Advantages are that it weighs about the same as the formed steel case, but is far more rigid and looks better, in my opinion. It costs a bit more to produce, but Chris told me that it saves some time later in assembly (or was it drilling the case holes, I forget), so the price difference is awash. One thing I really like about the Demon over the others is that it has an exhaust center body, I know the 500 and the 600 do not, not sure about the others (Wren???). That increases thrust by a significant % (he told me, I can't remember) and changes the sound. Less turbulence just behind the T wheel. I believe he will have one running in Florida next week.

Hi Marc and All
There seems to be some confusion in this thread on who handles what. So......
Helijet R/C International is the sole importer for PST engines for Canada and the U.S. We do not sell any TJT engines. It is my understanding that Mr. Frank Tiano is the sole importer of TJT engines in conjunction with his own line of x RAM engines.
I cannot speak for any other world wide distributors as there may remain some alliance between TJT / PST.
You can check out more info in the manufacturer's announcement section. And thanks guys for your interest - see you at Florida Jets!

Getting into the rum & coke a bit early eh? Save me some for FJ O.K.
BTW want to talk to you about Multiplex - I am looking for a new radio with 90 CCPM for my JetCat powered HotCat!

Another one!!!!
Thats getting kind a boring! Always the same engine in another robe.
Check out Funsonic and Artes, they have the real new small engines.
Why buy a engine that has nearly the same weight as a KJ 66 but only 65 % of the thrust?

One important fact, often overlooked - the residual thrust at idle. Many small models that use a larger engine derated need to use airbrakes and other devices to slow down the plane. WIth a small 54 size engine, you dont have that issue since the residual thrust is next to nothing.
As for the two engines you have mentioned (funsonic and artes bee) I have not heard yet ONE report on RCU that a funsonic has actually flown, and only saw one guy trying to sell a Bee but no flight reports. That may be why no one wants to part with the $$ to "test" one out in North America!

Peter,
Paid??
I wish that were true! Then I could save to buy a Demon! LOL!
It's just that I was lucky enough to have a chance to play with the 3000 a few times last summer and I was VERY impressed that's all.
Hey Peter, do you still have your Arrow that had the Turbomin in it?

Andrew, the post you placed is misleading about the JF 50Bee, in fact the Bee has been and is being flown constantly, single and twins (many Bees are being purchased for twin use) and if you want to see VIDEOS go to the link below!
Artes Jet is not needing nor wanting guys to be test beds, thats why its been over 2 years in the prototype stage, Artes Jets isn't new to turbines and for anyone of any seance will know that one motor running and working flawlessly isn't what is needed to manufacture and sale to the masses as we saw with ram 500.

The advertised weights on these auto start wren clones is 2kg (2.2lbs) The jetcat P-80 is 2lbs 14oz?? Not that far off is it?? I agree with you on the idle thrust, this can be a problem with smaller jets running the larger motors.

I am familiar with the Bee AND well informed about the work Jesus Artes has done for the turbine, being a GTBA member and having read all the goings on since 1995/96 when all the turbine stuff was in the infancy.
No where did I say anything misleading, I merely stated that not one post here on RCU has been written (that I can find in a search) that describes either the funsonic or the artes bee in action. Therefore, we do not know a whole lot (other than what little I read in RCJI) about them. Didnt put them down, did I? Merely suggested that knowing as little as I do about these engines I vertainly would not want to spend my $$ on them as opposed to something that I have read a LOT about, that people are actually using and giving feedback about.
Vin,
2.2 pounds and 2 pounds 14 ounces is a difference of 25% in weight. That is 11 ounces difference. Dont know about you but that is an appreciable difference in weight when you are talking about an 11 or 12 pound aircraft. If you dont NEED the extra thrust why carry the extra weight?
