RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Thanks for the vote of confidence Mike. Iwould love to get in touch with Sandor to see what they might have. Idid see the thread where he was getting rid of some stuff that wasn't anodized. Funny, Iwork for an anodizing company! Hardly two weeks ago an entire Pro-Lynx Falcon set sold here and Imissed them. Darn the luck.... I'm always game for a deal. I've emailed them twice on their site, PM'd Digitech once and so far, nothing. My plane needs some gear simply so Ican continue building it. Sandor, where are you??

Strange although sometimes people do have trouble getting hold of him, but I never have, go back on this thread and find his PM that may do it.

Hey there Kelly. Have a look back at page 152 to see my Pro-Link gear from Dreamworks. The quality is excellent and Dreamworks are great to deal with. I did find that the gear they sell for the Falcon must be for the prop version as they were too long. They were easily cut down, but you may want to call them first to see if they come in a shorter length.

Thanks Dave, Iguess Iwill have to call them also. Ihave PM'd them also but maybebeinga weekend, everyone is out flying somewhere. I'm going to put an OS1.60 on it so tall gear willbe the ticket for me anyway. I pretty much have read this "book" of a thread a few times just looking for ideas, etc.

What are most of you doing with the legnth of the struts? They need to be 6.75in for the kit the kit with the gas engine. With a turbine they could be much shorter. Do you need to shorten them? The Pro-link struts from dreamworks are 6.75in.

I made the offset for the front spar. I think i still have the drawing i made for it. It works good and i have a jet tech 90oz tank in mine.

I prefer to use metal gear servos on high load surface's if only that the flaps are quite low on the underside and if you get a UC up landing the servos under the wing will take a beating more chance they will survive if they are metal geared, especially if the flaps are down, we all like to think we will pull the flaps up at the last moment, but on a UC up landing we tend to be concentrating on other things, I have not used 5485's so can't say with any conviction how they would handle that situation, but the spec looks sufficient to use on flaps?

5625 or 5645's will do, when you set up the flaps try to ensure that on full deflection the push rod and servo arm are in line that way very little load will be on the servo gears and motor.

If you are worried about binding linkages and centering then do a load test on your airframe, put some weights on your surfaces and operate the controls for about 8mins than see how much power you put back into your battery, if will give you an indication of any issues you may have with your set up.
The holding power of Digital servo's is worth it, try a small test with an Analog servo, set it up and give it an off center command then push the servo arm you may give yourself a shock of how easy it is to move it, then try it with a Digital servo again you may get a shock of how difficult it is to move it.
