News:

Boomerang Elan

it has come to our attention that there is some confusion about the new Jet-1a landing gear sold by the official channels www.jet-1a.com
and jetpower usa "elan"set.

they do sell a equivalent jet -1a set but there are some major differences that you as a buyer should be aware off.

first of all the most important features the main oleo sets are custom made for the élan by Jet-1A and are sold only thru :

Als Hobbies
Camlex usa
Boomerangjets usa
Mark Kyle Australia

main differences:

the "standard" set comes with a custom made former to lift the front retract.
comes with 2 x fake carbon enclosures to cover the space next to the retract.
the main oleo’s are almost in a strait line and they fit without CHANGING anything to the airframe (exept for the depth).(the others use the "old" one s that wont fit without altering the airframe) see pic 1 and 2 and 3
the main oleo’s are also 5mm smaller in size.
the main oleo’s also have the new feature , that the lower portions are different in size.
this will cause to take more beatings and springs will live a longer time.
the original Jet-1a tyres as sold by us are 3 times lighter then the ones sold by jetpower.
also our set has a new low profile axle system , you NEED this , otherwise the wheel axle and collard as sold by jetpower will hit against the wheel Wels causing the composite material to rupture when retracting.
ours has a different system see pic 4

also you get 2 spare springs for free
also you get a 3 piece allen key set for maintenance and repairing our set (spring replacement)

our "deluxe" version
what you get more is :
2 valves electronic powered.
steering cables.4 festo t-parts
4 meters of festo airline
2 air bottles that fit inside exactly in the holes cut out for it.
filling valve
all t pieces and connectors
nice new packaging you can later use as a spare part container.

i hope this clears all up misunderstandings that you customers ask us.
Below you can see some pictures of the normal package and the deluxe package

the price of the sets are :

Elan standard: $875,-
Elan de luxe : $975,-
---------------------------------------------------------
Jet-1A

BVM,s KingCat

NEW they have arived and on stock!!!
new Kingcat Struts made by Jet-1A

the brand new 2008 oleo’s where redesigned from the bottom up!
we had some set,s in the field thru out the year.
a well known pilot used to fly for BVM has tested the latest ones for us and he was very impressed with the new layout.
and he is teaching many new pupils with his KingKat and our struts.
he reported that even after the worst landings possible the flex plates where still at one piece , but the springs had suffered.
the new struts have also a new lower custom made part.
this is made shorter then the old one , now it can take more weight.
even a better option is that you can choose 3 axle sizes 3/16 1/4 or 6mm.
we can even supply our own 90mm jet-1a wheels for it.
price : $199,-
they can ONLY purchased thru:

Camlex usa
Alshobbies
Mark Kyle australia.
or directly by us digitech-turbines.com / www.jet-1a.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------

you asked for them ! we got them
Full rubber tyres weight ONLY 2.3 ounces (66 gram)
not needed for grass , but if you fly of tarmac you could use them...

price: $23,-

Hi Don

I told her earlier this week that I needed the Elan kit and the retract set by the 23rd. She said the retract set was coming in any day and that would not be a problem.

Dean W.

yes Patricia has the "de luxe" sets

what could be is the extremely high shipping costs we had to get the set out on express to the states..

Hi Sandor,

i have a question for you !

I planing to buy a Dragon jet from X-tremejets but dont want to use there available landing gear.
I fly mostly of gras and therefore i would like to use as Jet-1A Gear just like the new one for the Elan.
Well, the Dragon is quit a bit bigger, can you provide me a set of gear in this style for my Dragon ?

As i dont have the Dragon yet, i cannot really give you any dimensions - but mybe your experience will help ?

Best regards

Thomas

if you guys can send me some pictures from the old gear and measurements i am sure we can do something.
i am sure the Elan gear will do the trick , this new gear was calculated to hold twice the weight of a elan...

before i forget:

the Factory is raising the prices in december by 10% due to material costs and labour.
this means that some shops that sell grey imported jet-1a will raise the prices by 10% or even more.
all our dealers

Als Hobbies
Camlex
Boomerangjets USA
Mark Kyle australia

are NOT raising the prices in 2008.
just a friendly reminder

Hi Sandor,

thanks for your reply !

There are some pictures on a few threads here on RCU about the dragon, but they all dont really have any mensurements.
Only thing would be to place my order on the jet and then take mesurements - i´m sure we would find the right gear for here

Best regards

to be honnest
i haver spend loads of money in the past to just to buy a model , fit the gear. (bandit , kingcat , al sorts of l-39,s feibao kits..
and then sell it on for half the price , since no one wants a touched set.
i am glad to be of assistance or even send over a set or to help you guys.
the only one who ever send me a kit for free , was boomerang jets to fit the elan gear.
and you can see what comes out of that ,..

Sandor,

Let me get this straight. So you are saying that the Jet-1a main struts that Jetpower USA is listing in their catalog as the Elan struts(part #140217) will not fit the Elan without modification to the airframe?

i do know that the struts offered by us do Fit the elan without any modification to the strut itself , or airframe yes.
the Struts he offeres are used to be for the boomerang XL and yes they dont fit without lots of modifications to the strut (weakening the structure) and airframe.
jetpower does NOT sell the same oleo,s as we have them delivered to our dealers.
Jetpower advertises a Elan set equivelent to ours , but it does not come close to ours.
its the small details , that make the difference.
if you dont want the parts from our dealer(s) you can order them directly from us.
you could even make anything fit if you fiddle around enough , but please be adviced this system we made, has been talked over between the designer , Alan , Ali and myself.
i can say you this that the new stuff comming in 2008 is brand new designed and everything people asked us to do.

Sandor,

Thank's for the info. I was on the verge of ordering the advertised as Elan main struts from Jetpower, but was not aware that modifications would have to be done.

Since I have already modified a set of Robart 630 retract units I had on hand to fit the rails of the Elan, I simply am looking for the Jet-1a struts that will drop in the 1/2" diameter trunion block without having to use a pin to adapt, and not have to modify the gear well opening.

From what I have seen, all of the original Jet-1a struts designed specifically for the Elan require a pin for adaption to the retract unit. In short, I want a set of Jet-1a mains and a steerable nose gear that will fit the Robart 630 trunion block and not have to modify the gear well. Are these available?

we are currently producing the elan struts also in a 1/2 inch version. buti cant tell you when they are done..
you could have someone make you on a lathe a 1/2 inch piece of metal with a 8mm hole drilled in the middle.
then tap 2 small screws to lock the pin.
our pins act , like the flexplates do for bvm..

Sandor,

You just confirmed what I thought! You need to put a rush on the 1/2" diameter units. I understand the concept of using the pin, but think it would be nice to just have drop in units for the Robarts, since they are a popular retract unit here in the states and feel that most would preference the drop in units as opposed to using a pin. Could be wrong on that though.

What is the difference between your "Deluxe" Elan Jet 1A set up and the "complete" Elan set up?

Thanks...

Ali,

OK, the mains are pretty straight forward as far as adaption goes, but what about adapting say the Jet-1a forked nose gear strut to the Robart retract so that it is steerable. Seems that you would need a center drilled 1/2" bushing with a milled recess at the top side of the bushing for a shouldered pin to drop into for the stut attachment, with a tiller arm at the top of the strut fork for steering cables.

How is this accomplished using the Jet-1a nose gear retract?
