Joe,
As always, thanks for the information, I am using Futaba 9C which should have similar capabilities. I would rather save my sequencer for the Skymaster F-18 E that is sitting on the shelf.
What type of gyro are you using? I have a Futaba helicopter Gyro201, but that may be an over kill.
Regrds,
Mike

Hi Joe and Mike,
I am going to use jet tronic brake systems. I believe that FE still need to work on their hardware a bit. Not saying they are bad, but these mechanical parts are going to wear out soon and too difficult to deal with.
Gyro - Yes, please show me how to do that. I want to do the same. I have a couple of these micro head-locking gyros, would they work?
I am heading back this weekend. A bag of Santa's tanks are on the way. I will start sending them out next week. In case you asked for and I don't remember you, send me a PM.
MR DJ - You don't need to remind me. I won't leave you behind. Get the plane first and the rest will follow.

Mike/Mike,
If the Futaba 9C has servo slow you can use it to sequence the gear & doors as I have done with my JR 9303.
I can't give much advise on a gyro. My first experience was a few months ago when I decided I needed to do something to improve my Gripen's ground handing. I did an RCU search on "steering gyro". The concensus seemed to be that if using a gyro for steering only that a cheap piezo gyro would suffice. Several guys recommended the GWS PG-03, available from Tower.

I did have a few set up issues with it on the Gripen. It doesn't seem to like Hitec servos. I tried several different ones and they either worked erratically or not at all. Any JR servo I tried with it worked fine. So I swaped out my steering servo with a JR and it really helped the Gripen. I don't expect that the F-16 will be as bad as the Gripen was initially but I was concerned about the narrow track, so I bought another one for the F-16 just to be safe.

Right--I'm at TBM right now and I am about to order a ton of stuff--now I will add two UATs for the F-16 and Rafale--no wait, I plan to get their F-18 as well--3 it is.
But you know, in the Manual for both of them, they show UATs--one is round and the other is normal...
Thanks guys...

I don't know about that, I placed my order today because I don't like taking chances. TBM advised me that they have and will raise prices again. It does not make any difference to me but I got the same prices the flyeagel web page has for the F-15 and 16 shipped and built to my door.

Ok guys, finally nailed the leak problem I was having (not me, the F-16..geeeee). The problem was not the pink/red air valves that come with the kit. I replaced them with robart valves and I still had the problem, so I started to take lines out one a time till I found the problem. It was the nose gear air cylinder. If you pump air from one port the plunger would move, but it would allow air to come out the other end, so I could never pressurize it. I have already sent a note to the US rep. and I am sure they will send me one.

Mike

Hello Keith,
Have you looked at their (www.flyeaglejet.com) web site lately? They have a few shots of your Falcon.

Are any of you going 2.4?
I bought a 12Z 13 months ago just for my YA F-15 and future jets. I'm going 2.4 but not Futaba's expensive peice. Xtreme Power Systems has modules for both JR and Futaba--I'm just waiting for them to release the 12-chn module for the 12Z. It is already completed according to them, just waiting on the plastic housings.
Many folks at my field have been using them for a while--check them out: http://www.xtremepowersystems.net/products.php?cat=11

Mr DJ,
Use caution with the XPS system. Read the threads in the Radio section on the other big RC site before you buy. I was going to try this system too, glad I waited. The system does not hop as advertized, ie. when it needs to.

I finally got everything installed in the F-16 last night. I had to lube the shafts on a couple of the air cylinders and exercise them a few times before they would hold air. The gear, doors, and brakes all worked fine after setting them up. Wouldn't you know after final installation I was leaking air with the gears down.
I wasn't looking forward to pulling everything out to get at the lines, etc. Fortunately without too much trouble I was able to trace it to the nose retract cylinder. After putting some silicone lube on the shaft and exercising it a few times everything is now working fine and the system has been holding air for over three hours so far.
It seems the shaft seals on the rams and retract cylinders tend to leak and need some lube in order to seal properly. I hope that this is just an initial concern and that they will continue to be leak free. Next warm day (above freezing) I plan on firing it up and taxiing around the driveway.
Mike,
Not sure if you have the same problem or not. Try lubing the cylinder shafts to see if it helps.

Joe,
I am pretty sure I have the same problem, I will try some silicon lube and see what happens. I have looked at their O-ring under 40X scope and I see some flaws. That is what the silicon will take care of. I will try that tonight.
BTW, if anyone has a leak on the retract cylinders, take a look behing the cylinder. there is couple of holes that you could use a snap ring plier to rotate and tighten it a bit. There is o ring at the interface so do not overtighten. Add some silicon grease and tighten till there is no leak.

Mike
