couple more shots of the front end apart..... you can see the 3rd tank removed in the last shot too.
a heads up, the bolts holding the nose section on were only finger tight.
I've also noticed quiet a few of the bolts on the main under carriage are backed out about half way (or never tightened to begin with) and I'm hoping after i take it out and go over the whole thing it solves the one wheel wobbling.

After much deliberation and talking with guys here in town, I ended up with a Kero start Behotec JB66 Turbine from Peter at Altecare RC. 19lbs Thrust, 2.8lbs and 9oz/min fuel burn. Peter's support thus far has been second to none, and reading through the forums, others have had great experiences with him as well. I have a good friend here in Vegas that has a propane start version of the same motor and it runs flawlessly. I can't wait to get this thing in the air!!!

Hi guys,
just finished the F16. I realy enjoyed assembling this one.
I have a P-80 on it, smart fly, 2X5200 fromeco packs.
I started the turbine today - P-80 on kersotart, and it was great, like a swiss (or german...) clock..
Gonna fly it tomorrow, wish me luck.
IS THE CG PUBLISHED OK? should I go with it?
Thanks,
Zivo

Hi Zivo,
good luck on your maiden. Could you please let me know how you use these jet tronic valves for brake, gear doors, and gear.

Hi Zivo,

Mike
I use the following:
Single action valve for brake (in propo mode)
Dual action valve - 1 for gear doors and 1 for retracts.
the dual's are connected to the sequencer in mode 2 - gear in+doors close > doors open + gear out.
Very simple yet reliable setup. saves lots of space too (no dervos...)

Flight report:
We did 3 flights on the plane.
Absolutely gorgeous plane with great flight characteristics.
CG at 140mm - right on the spot! all trims stayed at zero!
Very easy to fly, friendly landings, thumbs up.
The only problem we found is that the main gear oleo is way to soft and the plane sits on its belly on the ground. Means that the oleos are fully squeezed when the plane is on the runway. this causes the plane to be very low, the belly fins underneeth almost touching the ground. this also means that you cannot high-alfa the plane too much in the landing, although it can easily, cause the fins will touch the ground first. So we had to land in a more straight line aproach.
Stall point - stick almost at the full up with a little engine - the wings did not stall! very high alfa, ant it sank beautifuuly.
I had a retract problem, one of the main gear would not retract - but that is because of the soft oleos which caused a mechanical issue. once I will solve the oleos this will also be solved.
Throws - as per the manual are right on, same as CG.
Expo- 25% on ailrons, 35% on elevators and 60% on rudder and wheel. soft and predictable.
It was a good day...
I will post pics soon.
Cheers,
Zivo

Any videos of your flight would be great. How do you like the P-80 in that airframe? How much does your plane weigh dry? How much flight time on a tank?
Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick
Video will be edited soon by my friend.
The P-80 is p-e-r-f-e-c-t for this airframe.
I did not weigh it yet but will tonight.
Still flies very light.
I only have the 2 stock tanks, flew 5.5 (preset timer) minutes and landed with 20% in the tanks, besides the UAT.
It does need the 3rd tank if you wish longer flights.

Well done with the first flight! I have seen Keith's F-16 fly several times so I expected you to have no problems. If the oleos are the same as in the Rafale, then yes they are way too soft. With the plane upside down I took mine apart by undoing the anti rotation link. The nuts were locked with super glue but did undo ok. When it is taken apart you will find a plastic plunger with a rather weak spring on it. You may find that the oil could do with topping up. The easiest way I found to stiffen the spring was to add a second spring inside the first and just happened to have 2 in my box the right size. This helped a lot. However with a P80 you may well need to replace the outer spring with something stronger if you can fit one in. Do post a note if you find a way to get it stiffer.

pulled my fuel tanks down today to remove the trash that was on the inside of them and I'll be damned if they didn't glue the bungs in with Hysol.
guess I'll be replacing them with the BVM Kevlar tank type setups.
measured the fluid capacity of the tanks, the center tank is 500ml, the two saddle tanks are 1100ml each for a tad over 91oz, should give a 10 min flight with the P-70.

Would love to know your AUW wet?
What percentage throttle do you land with?
Mine will be here shortly. thanks for the heads up on the Oleos.

Thanks Zivo,
How is the vertical performance? What would you estimate your top speed?
Thanks again,
Rick

WELCOM TO THE CLUB ZIV
the f16 fly great and the maiden was fantastic
very nice build like all your models
ther is one more problem
that f 16 hate the sun
after 15 minuts in the sun the elavators bent a bit and they are full with air bubbels
that is a QQ PROBLEM(this is not the first one that have that )
beside that i love it
see you soon

Hi Rick,
Did not test it full power vertical but it seems to be great ration cause the plane was real fast in full throttle, I flew it most of the time on 60%.
Chris
Landing was easy, I used 10-15% throttle on final aproach, and could do even less with high alpha with no problem.
In the air - we did a hi alpha stall check - kept the wings rock steady!
Can land even slower that what we did for sure. gonna try it next time.
Here are some pics...

Hi Udi
Indeed the picture credit are yours, great camera by the way. just sell it and buy 2 jets...
As for the elevators, true, they developed some bubbles. New elevators are on the way just now anyway, improved by strength as well for extreme maneuvers.

Udi/Ziv,
More information please regarding the elevator problem.
Are you saying that the elevator surface or the elevator shaft bent?
Are the bubbles paint blisters or something deeper that might affect strength?
The explanation I got from FEJ was that the upgraded elevators weren't really required. See http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_74...tm.htm#7434952
Do the replacement ones address this issue?
I wasn't going to get the new ones, maybe I should reconsider.
Joe

My F 16 is being shipped today from China. I wonder if all new elevator stabs will be alluminium? I will report once I receive it.

They are paint blisters, nothinh to do with strength. The sun here can be real strong with high radiating heat, and I gues this is a heat-epoxy issue. BTW it only happened on the elevators, everything else is OK. does not look like it effects strength. nevertheless I asked for replacement stabs and new ones are on the way.
Cheers
Zivo
