FLy Eagle Jet Models

John,
It's just as easy to deal directly with James Chen at Eagle Jets and bypass any so called dealer.
Their service is fantastic and they keep you informed with what is going on all the time.
I've had 2 x F16's advanced version and have another 2 x L-39's on order - so far all excellent.

Hi mav, I have just bought and completed the f-16, if you want some photos of my air system installed let me know, I think three airsytems is a bit to much.
I work with full size jets and when you take off you retract the gear and the doors shut when you are on finals for landing the doors open and gear comes down and locked.
How many times do you think you have to go through this sequence on a model, correct ONCE,
on my setup I have only two air tanks, one for brakes and one for doors and gears and you will find you can get about 5 cycles with this setup.
I f you are concerned about air loss get yourself a Tamjets gear failsafe this will activate the gear at a loss of pressure.
If this is your first jet make it as easy as possible, do not go for complicated setups as this will confuse you when the time arises to fix a problem.
Do you have people in your area to help if not give me call.

Hey Todd,
A pic of the air system would be great. FEJ only supply 1 air valve for filling the system, is that what you did??? I have 2 air pressure guages from TBM arriveing tomorrow, so I was going to get stuck into it. Did you have any issues with the door rams like a lot of people have reported???
And thanks for the offer to call!!!!
Cheers,
Mav

John,
After reading the nose wheel problems in the review i decided to program the nose gear steering into my gear switch. When my gear is up the servo is isolated and does not move, when i lower my gear the nose gear servo mix is activated and this means hopefully it will always line up as long as you don't touch the rudder when operating the gear switch.

Gidday Yakka, I am not sure what system you are using fo the nose steering, but if you have your rudder servo on ' r ' and mix in your steering servo to a seperate channel you should have no problem with steering, this will also keep the nose wheel straight on gear up and down.

Mate, here goes, I have used only the one air valve, one air guage, two airtanks, the gear and door valves supplied, one door sequencer, two servos, and one airtronics valve.
I do not have any leaks with the air rams supplied they work fine, if you take your time and fit them properly you should not have any dramas, if you do have problems give peter a call at intarico and he will supply the air rams for you as well as the stuff above.
If you send me your email I will go through the stages for you, the system I have used is simple and it does not leak.
cheers

The issue is that the nose leg is free to move even if there is no input from the tx when retracted. The wheel retracts up against whatever air lines etc that might be on the equipment plate and they could give a slight pressure to one side of the nose wheel making it twist. Also the wind may make the nose leg twist as it comes down. The nose leg is after all ball raced so is very free. As mine has rotated like this twice in a dozen flights I cannot believe others will not have the same problem.

mate, Im not sure what you are trying to say? I do not want to appear rude but if you do the basic setup of a digital servo connected to the nose steering via cables you should not have a problem with straight steering, and using your radio for sub trim to the steering so as to centre it, and when retracted it should go up straight and down. Even when the nose leg is going down the cables should take up the slack and keep the nose wheel straight.
Ive never come across this problem myslf I hope I have not affended you.

Todd

The Rafale does not use cables but has a different system. The servo is connected to a yoke and that only engages with the nose wheel when the leg is extended.

Here is the new Fly Eagle Jet L-39 (1/7) 'Albatros' tread:
I've already pre-ordered the FEJ L-39 and will post my building and flying experiences as well.

Thanks for info. I guess if they supply 2 air tanks and 1 valve, this must be adequate for F 16. I will run with this then! An air system pic would be good if you have time. I will attack the air system install in the next few days. Should you wire tie the air system joins or are the barbed fittings sufficient? ( I have read various opinions) I have a JR 9XII tx and plan on mixing 2 channels to operate the 2 F16 elevator servos. So how do I then put brakes on the down elevator input command?

Morning all Got a couple of questions about the f16 for you all i need help.
1. The elevators are not balanced so when you have no servo power on they drop at the rear but when they are powered i get permanent chatter from the servos does everyone have this problem if not how did you solve it and if you do is there a problem with power drain. Was worried about balancing them as i don't need to be adding anymore weight at the back or i will have to add it at the front too. I have a powerbox with two lipo cells so the power drain would i guess be minimal.
2. I have not taken my landing legs apart yet but with the weight of the plane the main 2 legs springs are not strong enough to push the plane back up. I know some of you put another spring inside. The question is where did you get the spring and how do you take the gear apart.
Thanks in advance for the help
Rob.

Proops and Maplin are the best sources I can find. The proops bag is cheap and has lots of different sizes. They both have web sites. I fitted my additiona spring inside the one supplied and this was fine for me. Keith fitted one on the outside of the leg. You undo the anti rotation link screw and it pulls apart. Remeber it has oil inside for damping when you take it apart!

Hi guys,
Anohter question. What servo for the FE F16 rudder? Mine is the later version without the hatch. A standard size servo will not fit!

The factory is sending the new rafale fuz and fin to me this week so should be in the air in a few more. When i have got it back together I'll check back with you on your final setup to see how close mine was. I will be putting a supersport in it for extra power on the grass strip.

if you'll actually read this thread that is answered many times, even includes pics of installs of the various choices of servos.

Hey Rob,
I have similar issue with my elevator and the JR 8411's. But as far as I know the digital servos makes that sound when loaded. What type of servo are you using?
Regards,
Mike

gidday mavrik, sorry I did not get back to you sooner, get yourself some 'Ts' and wire in your system, try not to wire in your brakes with the elevator have the brakes on a seperate switch youll find this easier to manage.
If you have a 9 channel receiver you should have no problems.
If you get stuck with the plumbing I will talk you through it, a photo may not help.
cheers

Hello:
1) if you have this occurrence you are at the safe side. Stabilators balances themself in the air due to aerodinamic forces. In fact the servos do less job when the aircraft is flying than in the ground at neutral or flying surface traveling parallel with the wind.
2) If your struts spirngs colapse all the way down with the weight of the palne again you are at the safe side. If the opposite is such an occurrence in almost every case the plane will bounce off the runway at landings.
This is not theory is my experience with F-15's, 18', 16,s Gripen's and Roo's.

Thanks for your help everyone much appreciated .
Mike i think the servo is a futaba s3050 digital
one other problem i have after plumbing all the airlines up is that when the gear is out my jettronic air up air down valve seems to be just releasing the air slowly through the exhaust port but when retracted the system holds the air. is this a faulty valve or have i done something wrong. all the sequencing is right but it just passes air when gear is down ??? anyone any ideas ?

The air is most likely leaking around one of your pistons and then through the vent. I had this problem untill I replaced my door rams
