Guys, be careful with bigger motors in this airframe.

The shape of this airframe actually has a limit to how fast it will physically go.
Putting more power will not make it go faster, it will just increase the stress on the surfaces.

The JetMach is pretty darn fast with a P-60 or T-500, PST-600 type motor.
The limit of the aireframe is about 150mph.

More thrust will just eventually cause a surface to fail.

Ronnie, how dare you, please delete your post! These guys should be discussing this with the manufacturer and designer of the airplane. And apparently their non-existant instructions and lack of support in their minds suggests they can put bigger turbines in it.

By all means, I want to see the results.

SE,

On second thought...how about an Olympus? I would think 50+ LBS of thrust would give it quite a nice upline!

Cheers Mate,

speed is not my interest in this airframe, slow flight and relaxing flying is where its at. for speed the titan powered flash has it in spades.

the directions do list turbine up to 17 pounds as power option for this plane..so from the manufacturers document we can go 1 step larger

Same here, if I want to go fast I'll use my Titan powered F22. A turned down P80 on a fat winged trainer, a good teacher of turbine lag and throttle management.

whats everyones thoughts on those bolts? is that strong enough and wll the tiny washer keep it from pulling through?

i have to replace one of the front ones should i just go to home depot? the washer looks a little funky ...

I have the same thoughts, I think I may replace the bolts and blind nuts with 1/4" socket head bolts and larger washers, would kinda hate the wing to falloff in flight. they looked marginal to me when I first saw them and the first time i screwed them in one galled and had to be cut off, fortunately the wing was not on at the time. kevin

Thats what I would do. It's a trainer. Make it for Durability, not looks.

heres the other question for everyone.... if i am upgrading the turbine from a p60...

do i get a jetcat p70, jet central rabbit(when available) or jet central falcon and tame it down to 17 pounds of thrust?

not sure what will or wont fit and pros and cons....

i like the flacon idea since it is 22 pounds and i can use it in the future in something else....

whats everyones thoughts and what will fit?

why not just put a glow engine with a prop on this plane or just buy an ugly stick trainer they fly about the same for a lot less money if you want a turbine jet buy one the idea of putting larger and large turbines on a high wing trainer just does not make any cents to me

just my opinion

i flew it with the p60 and it is weak..im not looking for crazy speed but when i punch it on lift off i want it to climb with some power...

the concern i am saying is i know i will outgrow it but i want a motor to reuse for future projects.....

as stated earlier a few extra pounds of thrust would do wonders not for top speed...the plane is not designed for speed but just response on thrust....

Get a turbine in the 20-25 lbs thrust range, what ever brand you are happy with, this engine can be fitted on many jets from trainers to scale war birds and sports, I could mention a few but we all know by now what's out there. [8D]

Have fun flying.

Did I hear more fuel?? Here's mine with 74oz. fuel and 24oz. for smoke. 1 dubro 50oz. + 24oz. and 2 12oz. for smoke. I cut out the middle tray and made a new bottom for the 24 oz tank and UAT to sit. Then made a smaller tray and raised it a little bit for the 2 smoke tanks.

Jed

What engine are you using? I have the Bee. With all those added oz's, will a Bee lift it off?

I'd like to see more photos showing your components amongst all those tanks...if you get the chance...

Thanks...

Mannnn, some serious Sardine action goin on [sm=lol.gif] But I bet that 80 moves it right along...

I think I'll just stick with my Bee, but I do have a 12oz for smoke or extra fuel but I may not even add itjust leave as it is. I'll save the smoke, speed for my other current birds in their build: YA F-15; FEJ F-16, Rafale, & (soon) F-18; and (soon) TBM DV8R.

Thanks for the photos......gives me ideas for my other birds...

dj,

you may want to do the extra tank for just fuel.... we are running the p60 with the 16 oz tank added and it still burns through it pretty fast...

No problem man, anytime. The 2 tanks at the top are the 12 oz. smoke tank. There is another tank under them it has the green battery attached to it, it is a 24 oz. tank. I bumped the time to 6 1/2 min. with 75 oz. of fuel. The plane is a hoot to fly.

What are the dimensions? Jet Central’s web is down. Will it fit without mods?

So how are these things flying? mine is mostly done but can't fly due to extreme fire danger so I'm not in a giant hurry. any updates on flying time with the smaller turbines? I'm going to put the stock 50 oz. tank with a extra 24 for fuel and 24 oz for smoke. Kevin
