Default Combat Models (Reply on customer service)

I sent CBM an email about all the bad press in this email. And here is what they sent me (In only 1 hour I might add). I think I will definately give them a try. I know how a little bad press can hurt a business and I know about the desire to correct it.

"Sorry about all the bad pub. Some of it we must take responsibility for and we are sorry for that.

What kit did you want to order ? Perhaps you could help us turn the tide back to all the positive talk we've had about our kits in the last few years.
If we cannot handle your order in a fashion acceptable to you, we will not take it.

Sincerely,

Combat Models R/C Jets
Derek Bruce

P.S. After reading the RC Universe, it sounds like a few guys chatting with each other and considering we've sold thousands of F/A-18's, F-16N's, A-10's, F-15's, and F-16T's, we are, although sad about the bad comments, happy to report we have thousands of happy customers you may never hear from."

zxxman,

Well, that is the thing with the Combat Models guys. Sometimes you get a quick responce and service and other times it's like they are not even there. When you get a hold of them, they are nice guys.

TO Every Combat Model Owner:

Since the supposed truth has now finally been spoken, let's give Combat Models another chance to swing the negative opinions on RCU, RCO etc... For starters I'd like to hear from at least one of the thousands that purchased an F18, F16 etc... who had an entirely satisfactory experience from beginning to end in the purchasing process. If there is a great, silent majority out there, then now's your chance to plug Combat so these complaint forums can end once and for all.

PS: Particularly interested in if anyone has purchased the F18 with scale gear without any problem. I am very interested in this model and depending on the feedback I hear here will determine if I get one or not.

Default Positive Feedback

HI all
I am in the middle of building my f16n. I am enjoying the heck out of it. I cannot wait until it is done. I think it will be a good jet trainer. For the price and the simplicity, you can't beat them!!!
dave
PS I definitely would build another one!!

I bought a F16 and never finished it, I got as far as glueing the two halfs togeather
. I use the fuse to test my paint gun before I spray a model. I glassed the fuse and flying surfaces, I wasnot happy with the glass job on the fuse would need to be touched up. I will sell it complete for $100 bucks you pay the freight. It has landing gear and the mini servo as well. Needs air line and acuator for landing gear.

Email me at [email protected] I can send pics if needed.

Thanks
Vern

well, The same stories that I've read in this thread sounds exactly like what I've been told from cbm. The only "positive" thing is the outcome of the model. How it's a beautiful finished plane and it flies great. I wish I'd never purchased a cbm jet. I too am getting a runaround. I sent an online registration with the better business bureau in san diego. I'm not gonna put up with it. I threatened all I'm gonna threaten. I'm taking action. And for me, It's only been a month. Shouldn't have to put up with it.
Not gonna put up with it.

here's what I did...
I filled out an online form from the better business bureau. I told cbm that i turned them in and withing 1 week, my package arrived at my doorstep.
so to all those out there waiting for your parts, try the better business bureau approach and wait for your parts to arrive. It may not work for us all, but it sure helped me

My F-15 is still in the box. I haven't looked at it for a long time. However, I seem to remember there being a missile missing...

Default combat models bad experience

I ordered my f-16 and paid for a f-16 in november of 2001 after many e-mails send 10 get 1 reply customer service was not very good, when I called the number to order a jet suprisingly I got a call the next day asking for my credit card info. after patiently waiting 2 months I started sending e-mails and leaving messages on the machine, of course I received no replies, anyway in the long run I finally received my jet after 9 months fuse was cracked and the other half was warped, I didn't bother trying to return it because I didn't want to wait another year, anyhow i would never order from them again

I thought that the CM F16N 'is' a prop plane?

I have also heard recently that their CS is improving significantly.

No prob Dan, we knew what ya meant. There have been one or two brave souls out there who did convert this prop-duster to a ducted fan set-up, but, it looks like a hellish process to attempt (the conversion). Their new F18 gear looks fairly nice, I'd like to add. I'll be interested to hear how it functions by those lucky enough to have them. -S

PPS: Please read my statement carefully. It says, "I've HEARD that their cs was improving." That and 3.00 will get you a cup of coffee here in the rotten apple. 12 months is way too long long to wait for a kit, though. Also, keep in mind, RC is a cut-throat business. It's often tough to get parts from 'any' manufacturer. I ordered a well-known engine five months ago and am still waiting for it. I've also waited 6 months for fan units to arrive and landing gears. If you do get a complete kit, without any flaws, then consider yourself lucky.

I've been calling them for two weeks now trying to get parts for their F-16 I'm working on, leave a message every time, and no-one ever calls me back. Ridiculous, I'd say its bad customer service, but its NO customer services which is even worse

Despite the bad c/s, if you do get one and get a chance to fly it,
it is a blast. When mine was running yesterday at the field, they thought it was a d/f until i stopped the engine. Even had a dead stick yesterday, sucked the gear and it glided pretty good. skidded it on the grass runway. filled it with fuel and air and ran again. i would say this is a good jet trainer maybe for the byron f16 as it has the same dimenisions

Default Combat Models Never again

Hi to everyone,
I have had a veeeery NICE!!!!!! experience with Combat Models, guess what, I ordered a F16N and basically received it after 11 months, landing gear was 12 months(that is a whole year folks) Mr.Derek Bruce was very prompt to take my money but was not prompt enough to deliver the goods. After spending 12 months of waiting and sending about 500 e-mails I got my plane, I contacted Better Bussines Bureau they are no force to get the Combat models on track, anyway Mr.Bruce sent an e-mail to me after I contacted to BBB offering another f16N ,I replied to him, why should I get same thing I have ,send me a F18,
You guys propably know the end of this story, I get nothing from them for all my time and @#$%&* I have been through. COMBAT MODELS company is just big all liar. I saw some people here giving them a positive feedback, That is Bull... , WAKE UP PEOPLE THOSE GUYS ARE LIARS.
