Bevar, have you had or heard anyone else having any Probs with the Glow Plugs on the Rabbit? Thats the only thing I can't get past on this turbine is the fact that you can't get to it if you need too!! I know on the older ones like i have, you had too because it was common place (mabey on the learning curve) to blow one occasionally.

Mine has been great, but on the other hand I don't have that much time on it yet. You saw the video of Jim Hillers, the Rabbit in his model is the very one he wrote the article in the AMA magazine about earlier this year. Jim has almost 25 hours on his with no ceramic igniter issues.

Also think about this, if you have any Natural gas appliances (Hot water tank, Cloths dryer, Furnace / Boiler) most all of these appliances now a days use a ceramic igniter; I have a Maytag dryer and it has be going for over 25 years on the original ceramic igniter.

I'm sure you will always find a few that will fail but the reliability in general is very good. Besides the igniter is covered under the LTW... I know that if you are at the field and it fails you will say the the LTW doesn't help...but hey you can always light her off from the tail pipe in a pinch.

Well Rich something else to think about is mabey the redesign in inclosing the glowplug may have got rid of the Problems causing the old ones to blow. As long as you can light it off from the tail pipe you are at least not dead in the water. With a few of them out there now I have not seen many if any used ones for sell. that says a lot. Wonder if anyone has tried Kero start on a Rabbit yet?

Hooker53

With the Rabbit the igniter is a ceramic element not a glow plug. Yes, it is internal and yes, it must be changed at the factory. Last, it is covered by the LTW. The new ceramic igniter which we just introduced is a retro fit to the glow plug in all our other turbines. ie; same location.

With well over 100 Rabbits in service, there have been 4 ceramic igniter failures. One, was customer induced as he had a burning desire to take the turbine apart to see what it looked like. Of the others, two actually failed and the third appeard to be "shock" damage although, no visible impact point on the turbine was noted.

I trust this helps with your decision. I look forward to welcoming you to the Jet Central Family.

Regards,
Eric

For the record I was using a fod screen, bought it from TBM for this psrticular engine along with $20,000 with of other stuff this summer. The engine wouldn't turn over when it came back from repair without having had the bearings changed???

You all seem to know more about this than me and guys I was there for all the problems like 800 degree hot starts and three flame outs. Gerry Hinshaw even whitness this TBM guy and tried to get Eric to help. Read the above by him. If it was out side his fixing knowledge. What chance did I have. The damage was from metal being thrown off the impellar and redigested.

I know Eric sees the chip and thinks it was did but I know I had a screen on it that was covered with metal on the inside! We had had to stand it on it's nose one to put out the hot start and the scrapnel came off and back thru. Guys I was there and sonwas Gerry Hinshaw! Just ask him. He is a decent guy and when I said I was worried he said it would be covered by warantee. Eric is just looking at a very small part of this and giving me no benefit of the doubt. I have expressed this to him. I don't think he is a bad guy but refuses to consider anything but one item!! Which considering all the phone calls from me and Gerry should be reconsidered.

Todd I thought personal attacks were beyond the rules ??? Your imaginary list of people is nonsense. Been in the hobby and with the same bank and credit cards since my husband and I got married back in the stone age. Yes I filed a complaint with the credit card because you refused to call me back. You then proceeded to recharge my card again and add a $35.00 charge to the first one instead of answering the Visa complaint like you were supposed to. Visa told me that that is fraud and disallowed you double charging. If we were to believe you we would have to believe that Visa dispute center is dishonest. Don't think so. The only other hobby issue was with my shock jet wing folding. That was settled and money was never an issue. TBM replaced the shock jet and issued a FIX that now keeps us all safe and since then I have even written a f15 construction for them, gratis.
I don't think a personal attack is proper but I have to answer your person attack.

I have my card on file with tower, tbm, dons hobbies and hobby town in three cities and have no issues with them. In fact I imagine they appreciate the dozen aircraft purchases and four jet engines alone this year. They never have a problem taking my money!!!

Oh yeah I tried to get to talk to you and called every day for a month and you dodged my calls so I filed a visa dispute. Hiding behind your secretary for a month. Again I thought personal attacks are not allowed. Yes I disagree with jet cental on what I consider A warantee but in no way do I think Eric is dishonest. We have an honest disagreement and I will be paying for the repair Monday and he repairing my engine. Guys let's keep the gloves on. Ok ... And not call people liars, ect. Eric said he will continue to give me service. I don't agree with how this particular instance was handled and think I got the dirty end of the stick. We have an honest disagreement and I don't like the way he handled this but I am not NOT calling him a crook.
Enough said!

the fact ,that most post are makeing comments about ""ERIC"" and, if he "is", a, NICE GUY ,HONEST,HELPFULL,ECT. speaks volumes!! if its true, it does not need to be said...look,he sells turbines. not the best ,not the worst...priced way to high, some dont run right out of the box.seems to be ,quality control problems...some are great ,some go right back for repair..

Two cycle oil? You got to be kidding... No mobile jet and Jet A, bought it from Gerry Hinshaw. Or the airport. Guys I got thousands of hours in Citations, and Bell 206s. I know I am blond with large "atributes" but I am not stupid. Look me up in the FAA database you will find a commercial multi pilot with rating in fixed wing, gliders and rotary. Not stupid ... But thanks for asking. Got a heart issue so I stay on the ground anymore. Except in my dreams.

Ok
I have read this post and I think everyone including Katt is missing the big picture. Katt herself says that the wing on her TBM Shockjet folded causing the plane to go in. I might be missing something here but isn't that considered CRASH DAMAGE.
She states this in her original post and again in a post a few above this one. I do not own a JetCentral turbine but everyone I have talked to has had nothing but praises for JetCentral and Eric.

Just an observation

Joe

Joe, I think thats where a few or one of them here has gotten off track and thats the Diff between Warranty and insurance. There's a vast differance.

I believe that the turbine was sent in after that and repaired already... This is after it has came back from that repair..

I'm thinking about purchasing the bee. I dropped Eric a pm when he was on here earlier just to make sure that it would be back to 100% and that hopefully no aggravation will be directed toward the turbine (hate to buy one that had a hammer taken to it or something, lol) Haven't heard back yet

As mentioned before, I've had great cs from jc before and hopefully that will remain the same!!!

Interesting bit of investigating. Thanks for posting the report.

One thing that sticks out is that Katt has said over and over she has 9,000+ hours, but two years ago she had 2100 according to the NTSB. Odd but possibly telling.
