Hi to all of you out there,
Last summer I almost lost my airplane, if I was to stay for one more minute in the air.
I had notice that the battery on my new 2.4 radio was draining after a couple of flights, so I was charging it with the charger that came with and it was not holding the charge.
On my last flight after I landed I was walking to the airplane and I notice the scrin on the radio all blank. I thought that the radio was burned or broke but a rap from Horizon told me to use field charge( I use the best Hyperian) after that, I still can't use my radio for more than 15 to 20 minutes and then it goes dad.
So I am asking , who is responsible for that?
The radio it was less than one year old last summer.
Is anybody else have the same problem?
Thank you,
Nick the GREEK.

Check your warranty-it may say what the warranty covers and doesnt cover. I know if it were my JR 9303 2.4 Tx Id be barking at Horizon. But I dont think the batteries are covered......and if they are, I bet its like 6mo. warranty on batteries.
There may be a reason why the batt gets pulled down so quickly, maybe the tx is defective.....
just food for thought-

I am not cheap, but when you pay $1395.00 plus tax , you expect that they give you a battery that works.
Why would I or you go get an other battery. Just sale the radio without the battery so we can choose the one we want to buy at a less price.
They should know that they have a problem.
The radio is a 12x, 2.4 JR.

I agree Nick...
Now that we have that behind us, you should change out your pack with an enveloop and be done with it. Your aircraft is not worth taking the risk for 40 bucks....

I did the Enelopes from Chad (Sincityjets) Great move.
Call Chad first and make sure he them in stock. You can do it yourself or you can send him your battery pack and he will install the Enelopes and send them back to you. Quick turn around.

I keep those in stock all the time. Fortunately/unfortunately (depending who you are) that is a pretty popular product.
As others have stated, the swap is pretty simple and if you do a search for "picture tutorial", I even put one up. I also do the swap for you if you send me your case, free of charge.
Let me know if you have any questions.

If you spent 25,000 for a new car and the battery goes bad what do you do, i would guess you would go back to the dealer to have it replaced.

I got a bad battery with my 2.4 from Airtronics two years ago. It lasted 2 months. There is a forum about Airtronics radios and many got bad batteries too....and many were replaced under warranty. If you have a battery cycler, you need to find out what the capacity of the battery actually is now. If it is the rated mAH or close to it, then the radio has an issue. If less than 70% of rated value, get a new battery. A lot of my JR receiver batteries have lasted less than 2 years. I think there is a problem with the battery manufacturer, but who knows.
Some of the best batteries money can buy are from SR. I think the website is www.srbatteries.com. They are a little expensive, but last much longer than others. I am sure you are not doing this, but remember to charge at C/10. Some people buy a larger battery and use the same wall charger or charge at the same low setting. The guy with the 2700 mAh battery pack is hopefully charging at 270 mA or more, otherwise may never be fully charged. Compare that to most wall chargers that are 50-70 mA chargers.
A new guy at our field crashed his plane last season. Turned out, he bought a 6.0V 2000 mAh receiver battery pack. He had been charging using the charger that came with his radio. After a few weeks of charging at 4.8V, 50 mA, he was guaranteed of doom.....

Mine lasted less than a year in my Xp 9303, I have two friends with the same radio and they had short battery life as well (less that a year), we all replaced the batteries. Kind of sucks that you can't get at least a year out of a TX battery, They definetely have a problem with battery quality.

Battery on my 9X2 (same as a 9303) lasted less than 12 months, starting to see a pattern here!
Can some one remind me how a 'class action' works?
Changed to Eneloop. - John.

I have several JR sets (read 8) and I have never had a problem with any, feed back from UK customers tells me they are not having a problem either, the 50+ DSX-12's we have sold haven't had the same issues. My JR 9x II and DSX-9 are both fine. But I have never "guess charged" my Tx's. From day one they have been charged on a Graupner charger, NiMH setting (DSX-9 and DSX-12) and manual 0.7A. The wall chargers either over or under charge, both is bad. You cannot guess the exact time needed and people seem to just put their Tx's on over night, whether they flew or not!
That said, I would be surprised if Horizon won't sort your battery, their customer service in the UK on Spektrum is second to none. Having said all of that Eneloop cells are brilliant, best NiMH cell by a country mile and well worth an upgrade when the stock packs die.
