Default 12 FG Throttle cut to kill engine

Using a 12FG for my CARF Hawk. Does anybody use throttle cut to kill there engine instead of using the trim?

I would like to use a switch in lieu using trim to start and stop the engine.

The engine is a Wren 160.

Thanks.

I do this with my engines.

Leave your throttle trim in mid position. Go to your throttle cut menu. Select your switch and positions. Adjust the throttle cut percentage. Then program the FADEC as you normally would but flip the switch to its idle and off positions. Double check the throttle values on your FADEC after programming.

I do the same thing with my Superbee and Rabbit using a 12Z. Never had any issues. By changing the number of "steps" in the throttle trim, you would only have to hit the trim button once in either direction for full travel. Only reason I put mine on a switch was to have my "kill" in the same location as on my prop models.

I do this with a 9z and it works very well. I'm not sure what capabilities your radio has but I disable the throttle trim completely as it's not needed.

Yes, I also completely disable the digital throttle trim completely and use the rotary knob above the throttle stick instead.
For me this is a big step backwards in terms of ergonomics.
On that respect I love the analog trim offered on the 10x/12x.

I use the slider to the left of the throttle stick as my throttle trim on the 14mz. Just like an analog slider. JR did have a good idea there!

As RCGUY59 I changed the number of steps in the T1-T6 Settings menu to allow only four steps of trim, that way you only have to touch the trim for a second or two to shut down or start the turbine.

As mentioned on the 12FG you can just change the steps on the trim.

The only issue with a kill switch is you can accidentally activate it during flight[X(]

On the 12FG you go to the "Linkage Menu", and then go to the second page and select "T1 - T6" settings and set T3 for 100
This will give you four steps from low to high trim.
