Well even if he gets a check today, it still may not be over this guys has a chance to cancel the check for up to 10 days after it was cashed or something like that.
Basically it's still not over, unless he sends you a money order then IDK what the policy with that is.
I had it happen to me, but it was only $50 so I just let it slide, to me $50 wasn't worth all this trouble.

At this point I totally agree.

I can certainly understand how luckyy feels as my wife got into a similar situation with a contractor for a whole lot more money than $5 grand, but discussions (even if they are in jest) about perpetuating even more serious crimes like assault and rape serve no useful purpose. I doubt that the perp is even reading this thread. While you feel bad and are out a lot of money, legal persistence is your best tool.

You think you have problems? A few years ago we were remodeling our home. We had a demo crew come in and gut the living/dining rooms and kitchen. The day that the kitchen guy was to come in and start remodeling, he did not show up. His cell was dead and we later found that with his construction business failing (we did not know, and yes he had “references”) he used our $35,000 deposit as seed money to start a new business in the Ukraine. In addition to being out a lot of money, we had to start over with a new kitchen contractor and literally lived in a construction site for 8 months with two elementary school aged children.

For a year and a half, I dealt with the police, the US Embassy in the Ukraine, the Ukrainian embassy in the US and a host of other agencies both federal and local. I was able to have my perp’s visa revoked, and when he was forced to return to the US, he was arrested, extradited back to FL where he did jail time, surrendered his passport. As a bonus I get a check every month from him as he makes his court ordered restitution.

Luckyy, the best advice you got on this thread was to pursue this issue with the police and FBI as this is interstate fraud. The rest of this is just flaming and while it helps vent steam, does little else. Good luck, I feel for you, man, but you have a lot of work to do and it won’t get done anymore on this forum.

One thing I do not think you are thinking about, And that if scumbag Shirley had scamed the wrong person this thread would be in his memory and not just about his wrong doings! He will never get the respect anywhere he goes now. This is the greatest hobby and has the best of the best people in it.[ Shirley being a big dissapointment] We do look after our own! I think we are all like mother bears when it comes to one of our own being attacked by a scammer! I have always felt that I am with family when I am at an event. I think Shirley will see we do take care of our own, I hope the money is back in the hand of the buyer and that Shirley never does this stupid stunt again! Anyone else planning on doing this call Shirley and ask him if it was all worth it? I love having the respect that I have from others but I have worked hard to earn it! Shirley can still humble himself and fix the problem and ask luckyy to forgive him, and then never do such an evil thing again, and I did see this as evil!

Well you know what they say about a fool and his money. A fool and his money are soon parted. Looks like the guy that started this thread could not get the money to the seller fast enough. Building and flying model airplanes use to be a hobby. Now it is all about the money and giant egos. When it's all about the money and business, these types of things are bound to happen folks. It's called greed. Do you really think that anything will happen to this guy? I would not hold my breath. Good luck.

I do not look at a guy that wants to buy a jet as greedy! I look at the guy that took the money and gave nothing for it as the greedy one! I love to fly my planes and I have allot of them. Its not being greedy its that I work hard and love to build in my spare time. A man that ownes a jet is no more greedy then anyone else that wants to do RC anything. I fly what I like and thats World war 2 warbirds. The jet guys fly what they like. I do not see them as greedy and am happy we have the jet guys because I like to watch them fly! They just are not for me. I could have one or two with what I have in my 54 airplanes! I am a builder and have given allot of my planes away to new pilots after I teach them. I do not feel that greed is really part of our hobby! I like Spitfires and they like phantoms whats greedy about that?

If a crime has been committed (fraud/theft) then it can be dealt with if the procedures are followed. See my post above. I sent a guy to jail under much more difficult circumstances.

I don't think the guy that lost his money will be persistant enough to pursue a lawsuit. And for seven posts in two years? So what. I usually read very little of this garbege on RCU and don't participate in most of it.

Fed ex has come with a check from Schwantz for 5200 it a cashiers check. I will deposit and make sure it goes thru. I guess with all the help fromyou guys helped. I still cant believe it. Is it really going to clear, i will let you know. I cannot say thanks enough to you guys u know who you are. I will keep you posted

Congrats Luckyy, I hope it is still good in ten days. Let us know. IMHO this DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!. If, and I mean IF the check clears the ONLY reason he did it was to keep out of jail. He did not do it out of some flash of conscience or a religious experience. Trust me he is still a sociopathic, amoral aggregation of toxic scum impersonating a human . Even an amoeba has self preservation programming and that is all that is happening here. Dont forget he still owes Joe over 3K. Well greedy luckyy, I am so glad that you have gotten the check lets hope that it is good and stays good! And I do not think Shirley can dot an i with out being watched now! And I do agree that I think it was to stay out of jail but for what ever reason it had to happen in your favor because you have the right to your own money! He should have gave something extra for you pain and suffering, Well soak your typing finger in olive oil and should be OK in a couple of weeks! We are happy for you greedy Luckyy. Sorry about the greedy part but it has been brought to my attention that jet guys buy jets from greed and not for the love of them! Oh well who knew? But please do keep the greed going because love to watch you greedy $&^%* fly them!

I Just hung up with Bill. He is at this moment standing at a teller window as the teller hands him 52 $100 dollar bills. The check was verified and the bank cashed it.
