RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Wren Supersport going in mine.
They sent me the landing gear package & an invoice saying the jet has been shipped, but no airframe has arrived. I am sure it will be worth the wait. Regards Jim |
RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Hi everyone, I am in the process of building my Flash, I'm almost done. can someone post some pics of radio/ ecu installation in the fuselage . I remember that someone ( Digitec ??) had pics posted of this but they are no longer displayed here. Can someone send me photos of a neat / clean install. Also where does the Retract/brake (1 Tank) Air tank get mounted ,It looks too large to fit anywhere? Thanks Jack.

ORIGINAL: digitech ORIGINAL: mu2driver ORIGINAL: digitech ORIGINAL: Jascat100 You guys are lucky, you have your Flashes. Been waiting since mid September for mine. Regards Jim i think i was ready for a bandit ;). now i call the flash "a poor mans bandit";) anyway have fun with it , it was for me a very good flyer and extremely strong. i did 180 degree turns on a dime , and at full throttle. Ali did snap rolls with it , that i never seen in my life.. good machine.... Or you could call it a Smart Mans Bandit, being half the price it sounds like it does the same kind of stuff as the more expensive one.. I will know soon enough, I have one coming, looking forward to it! [:o] Thats too bad, for a plane that cant cost anymore to make... |
RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Hi Jack,
The air tank fits in the nose. It is a very tight fit through the nose gear formers and into the front nose section. I actually took a tiny bit off of the former to allow the tank to slip in that little bit easier. Will post pics of my install a little later. Rgds, Mark |

There are shots of my installation on page 2 of this thread Regards Dave |
RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Flash, Any you guys had issues on pavement, with the BT gear pegs, ie gear to struts breaking? Flew the Flash twice, first landing left peg broke, then fixed with a drill bit. Next landing right peg broke? Landings well within normal limits. Please advise as I am thinking to adjust peg dia to 1/4 piano wire and go from there. Any factory advice. WHMC STL

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Mark and Dave Thanks Alot, I was thinking the air tank would have to go in the nose, I will have to open the bulkhead up a little to fit it there. Also Dave It looks as though your antenna is located near the Back end of the fuselage fuel tank, What antenna did you use? I have a base loaded antenna on my reciever now (Revolution ), but that leaves the antenna wire to the base loaded antenna very short and it won't reach the location that you have it in. I will need to change the antenna to one that allows a longer antenna wire from the reciever to the antenna. Which one do you reccommend? Thanks for all the help, Jack.

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Too many pages to read through, so I'll ask the obvious questions, are there any bad habits on the flash or anything to look out for? I just completed mine and am about to maiden her, can she come in without flaps, and whats the stall speed, and does it tip in the stall or pancake?
I have a P120 in her.. and a tad bit nose heavy.. whats the best flap settings etc thanks BAGOSTIX |

Jack,
Apologies for delay - couldn't find pics then realised they were on my other PC! As you can see - not a totally complete install in these pics but nearly there. Will snap some more when I get time of the finished install. Rgds, Mark |
RE: Comp ARF Flash update

Mark , Thanks your pics are great! Just what I needed . Your install is very neat and tidy . Sounds like I need to get some different landing gear pins now from what people are saying they are brittlle. I guess thats a JC -120? No bypass? I went with an Artes Falcon and am using the bypass . Thanks Again Jack.

No issues without flaps, the thick wing slows things up nicely-I like landing with take off flap, full flap takes away some of the elevator feel. There are no surprises. Enjoy Jack its a 300mm whip, not base loaded-just a removable metal rod! Dave Wilshere |
RE: Comp ARF Flash update
I have your landing gear on my boomerang xl , they are awsome! Now when I look for a new jet I will make sure yours fit before I buy

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Jack, I believe that http://www.altecarerc.com/ has the newest pins. They are the behotec NA rep.

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
This may already have been address in a previous question but do you have to take the wing off everytime if you want to get to the engine, ie: glowplug?

RE: Comp ARF Flash update

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
I finally maidened my Flash with the Artes Falcon in it. I am trying to get it done for Florida Jets , it still needs paint (all white version),but I did get to fly it . The weather has been lousy here in the Northeast. I had problems starting the engine, it was 25 degrees F , very cold .After three time outs it finally lit off. It seems that the egt it very slow to come up to temp, like there isn't enough propane flow, I kept the propane bottle warm in my car then left it hooked up while starting but it still times out, The propane lights right away but ,the temp moves up very slow. I have plenty of flow out of the regulator valve on my propane bottle. I even tried to start it again after I got home in the warmth of my garage, But It still times out and refused to start??. Anyhow , the jet flew very nicely, but the engine flamed out on the third pass, Maybe it was an air bubble stuck somewhere . Luckily I was about 40-50 ft high and a made a complete circut around the field and landed, Oh yeah, forgot to tell you the landing gear wouldn't completely retract , had to land with the gear hanging out of the wing and nose. I belly landed it ,and there was no damage at all, the gear closed when it landed. I carried the jet back to the pits and cycled the gear and it worked normally?? Maybe the 25 degree weather had something to do with the gear. it might have froze in the cylinders or air tanks ,or valves. Overall I am happy, now I can get the paint work done, and try and get the engine bugs worked out.

RE: Comp ARF Flash update
Jack,
I had the same problem starting my Falcon on a 50 degree day. I kept the Powermax can hooked up inverted to get just gas and the temps came up quickly. Eric Clapp told me that in Mexico, where they can't get Powermax, they fill the tank with straight propane. If you want to leave the propane tank connected try it without the regulator as there is a restrictor in the gas line. I'm going to try this on mine... when the temps get back up above 40 deg. How did dthe plane fly on the Falcon? |
