How long did it take you to get the stu fans? Thats what i wanted to set it up with but from what i understand, he had a few orders to fill and was a waiting list. I was worried about tail weight on the a10 but had no problem with the turbax edf's. They are even 1/2 pound each, heavier than their glow version. With the stumax, there would be a weight savings of about a pound in the engine area but not so needed. I will try to contact them again after i get all this squared away. Cool sounding fan though. As for now, we will see how the Tams perform.

I'd email Stu.. from what I understand many guys were dropping off his waiting list... maybe the bad economy
there may be no wait now... it will fly great with Tams Fan... it's a power house

for scale sound it would be hard to beat Stu's fan... I'd be very interested to have this plane with two stu max's
can't wait to see how it goes..

if all goes well I hope to be at california jets with my Stu Max powered Spark... but time is not on my side right now [:@]

We haven't got it up on the website yet...working on it. The complete kit is $1295 not including the grear, radio or engine/fan. It really goes together fast and we are currently working on the plans and build sheet. This all came to fruition a bit prematurely, but we are doing our best to get it all out there for you. As I said before, we will have kits to look at at Calif. jets and we will get the web site done asap as well.
Thanks again for all the interest and I can assure you, the wait will be worth it. Also, it is not the same size as the Miller to my knowledge.

I just got back from Calif. Jets and the A-10 was the hit! Ali flew it twice and ordered 3 of them! We also took orders for 12 add'l. We are going to have it produced and should have a lot of kits available in about 120 days. They will be a complete ARF with everything except moter, fan and electronics.
Look at the thread on CA jets for flying shots of the plane. It was great!
I will keep you all posted.

Did you fly it on the TJ100's ? How many cells?

Your A10 looks great! I can't wait to get one in the shop and get it ready for E-Fest in September. It's going to be tough flying all the different jets Tam will have for the show with that A10 there...I'm sure I will try to fly it non-stop!

Ron, the one we flew had Turbax fans and the first flight was 9 cell and the second 10. We flew the entire flight at half throttle (including take off!). It flys fast and slow very predictable and no bad habbits. It really was the hit here (not to mention Ali's great flying skills!!). Can't wait to get the production done.

Russ, we'll get you one as soon as we can. We have a few kits coming from here in the USA that will be available. Will keep you posted.

Ali, thanks for the great shots and the great flying! You are truely a talent. It was sure nice having you out here.

I have a slightly different sructural setup for the cheap chinese 110mm fans for the engine nacelle but for the most part i think it would be fairly easy for the buyer to adapt it over. We have not messed around with enough setups to say we could offer something like this yet. Are you still thinking about the Stumax fans. When i get ready to do mine, i was wanting to set it up with Stumax fans so i will definately be making an adapter for these fans. I will be pretty busy for awhile so it may be some time before i even get around to purchasing some Stumax fans. If the time comes and you need some adapters you could send me the fan shroud and i can do some up for you. I live in central california which i believe is pretty close to where you are at.

What's the price difference? I wouldn't mind paying more for the TF, but how much more is it? The performance numbers seem better. I don't see prices anywhere on Aeronaut stuff.

That is the same weight as an MW44 which will be going in mine:D

As far as I am aware, Chris is the designer/builder of the model and RC Jets Direct is helping to bring the model to the (mass) market.

We are the distributer/seller of the A-10. Chris has designed a great model and together we have worked out the "kink's" and have a great flying model! It is only available through RC Jets Direct. (web site almost done!!).

Hi,

I've seen this kit up close and it's pretty darn slick! I'm waiting for the new JetScreamer motors for the DynEmax fans to come out. I hear 26k on 10s and 29k on 12s at an amp draw 103. The cost is supposed to be pretty incredible, too. Those would be awesome in this A-10. Nice bird!

Sean... with the JetScreamer/Dynamax setup weighing 3.5 pounds each, you would have 7 pounds of fan and motors in the back of this thing
I don't think it would be a good route for this plane

The other fans we are talking about are 1.5 pounds.. so 3 pounds total... 4 pounds less
So I think there would be an issue with CG?

I'd stick with the lighter fans on this one

This is a really smooth flying A10 at a perfect size. Chris, you've really got a winner here. Got a chance to see it at California Jets and it really was a joy to watch.
Keep it up and good luck with selling these little warthogs. You should not have a problem at all.

Believe it or not, I actually knew that, lol. Of course, lighter is most often better, but there's a tradeoff and a balance with these things, right? If we were talking about fans sitting at the extreme aft end of the plane, that'd be one thing. Where the fans live on the aircraft, you'd probably be delightfully surprised at how little difference the overall penalty is for the tradeoff in potential performance. Maybe, maybe not. Having seen the plane fly, do you think an extra few pounds of weight would be a deal-killer if you also had an extra several pounds of thrust to go with it? Rhetorical question, though, not looking to get into a peeing contest...
