Ahhh,
the (in)famous 8-gong landing, we laugh at that one often, but I can tell you, he has gotten a lot better at landing since then (has a Baby Boomer, the Rookie, Tam F16 1:8 and now a Viperjet).
He also bought a Viperjet, he got it the other day, this one has no tabs in the cockpit, but there is carbon cloth inside the front of the plane between the fuse division and the former for the front gear, so this is a new "variant" of the Skymaster Viperjet build ;)

Has anybody installed the lighting system from Details for Scale in their Viper. I have a complete lighting set but am not sure of the positions for installation in the fuselage and the fin. Any photos would be appreciated as I can't seem to contact Dan Gill.

Made an alternative "wing mounting", I don't trust the little alu tab in the wing, so drilled a hole in the back carbon rods, and inserted a "split" (don't know the correct word in English :D)
so when mounting the wings, I will use both the alu tab and the "split", that way I suppose the wings should stay on...

Fitted the landing light system from Optotronix & it works great. Very bright.

guys is there any interest to make a Holder that hold 2 Luxeon leds inside the opening of the wing?
i will be made of T28 alluminium , black anodised .
you can attach it to the wing with 3 bolts on top and 3 more on the bottom
the same time it will hold the plastic cover.
if there is no interest i wont even make it.
it will need about 7 hours programming and making a mould for it to clamp it in the vise.
i could make also a nice laser engraving with words of your choice..
so there is allready 3 guys Me , my Buddy , and Carste i guess :-)
the scott wont pay:D

:D, yup, Board I already knew, however, I thought it meant something else :D

Sandor,
I know at least two more here in Denmark besides me (the 8-gonger is one of them), so just get to the keyboard [8D]
The Viperjet is sitting here, waiting to be flown, but I told it "you have to wait until you get your lights from Sandor"

Alessandro,

In the end of the rear carbon rod in the wing, when you install the wing on the fuselage, the rear carbon rod goes thru the fuse, and sticks out around 6 mm on the inside.
I have drilled a 2 mm hole in the carbon rod, and I install the clips :D

Argh, I don't know if that makes sense, otherwise one of the wiseguys here can probably explain it a little better, or else I will have to do it in Danish :)

Wait!!! :D I have problems in english but danish is like babylonian for me :D
I understand exactly what you have done and I think is a real good protection. I'll consider to use it....

Last night i managed to escape for a few hours and actually get some work done for a change. To top that off, i remembered a camera to take some pics.

I made the linkages up for one wing and fitted them. Then moved onto the wing lights that i got from an electrical factors. The cutout for the lights doesn't sit parallel to the fuz, so rather than fit the lights flush to the cut out, i made up a balsa box for them to sit in. do to the lights sitting forward slightly, i ground away most of the lip, so it would not protrude the aperature. I have painted the blasa box in grey primer the same as the inside of the fuz, but i may well add something tonight to finish it off, not saying what yet in case it looks cack lol.

I fitted the wing tips to one wing and rather than use a countersunk bolt to hold them in, i've used a 3mm grub screw, which looks a bit neater. I drilled a 2mm hole and used a 3mm tap to put a thread in the wing. A little thin cyano to help keep the thread and the job was done.

I took some pics of the turbine install that i worked on last week. it's getting there !!!

The 3/8th inch Robart cylinder mod works perfectly. The gear went up smoothly & the doors closed & stayed closed. I did a full power dive & pulled up & they never moved.
Don't think cylinders larger than 3/8th are required.

The 3/8th inch Robart cylinders worked perfectly. The gear retracted smoothly & the doors closed & stayed closed. In a full power dive & pull up they remained tightly closed.
I don't think larger cylinders are required.

Guys,

Done with the elevator and tail surfaces.... the tail took me a while as I added 2 more hinges (total of 5) and find the precise rotation.... it works to perfection and I can reach almost 40mm each side. Notice the plastic cap that I machined to get access to the horn area.
My elavators had wood support for the horns but not for the rudder. True the plastic cap opening I was able to add the wood support and hysol quite good. It would save so much time if SM would add the wood area for the horn. Next step is the Flaps and Ailes and I am done with the surfaces.

Regards,

Gonzalo
