RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Problem solved !!
I spoke to Ali this afternoon, just as he was looking at the new baby viper that had arrived. The baby viper has the cockpits attached to the canopy, which not only makes the canopy and cockpits more sturdy, but less hassle to get to everything should you need to. The cockpits also had a layer of thin glass coth applied to them, increasing their durabilty, something that i will now do how is everyone securing their lipos in the nose?? i can see Ron has them on the front radio tray, but mine are going right up front Dunc |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Dunc, just some tie-wraps to the wooden frame (and some foam in between)
Works for me. ;) Hans |

Anybody want to take a guess at what I could sell my ViperJet oleos for? Anyone like to purchase them? :)

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Is the bolt that is used to close the clamp around the carbon tube from the rudder supposed to come with the kit?
Closest I've got with mine is 4 and 5mm, 4mm drops right through and 5mm seems to be too big, the local store doesn't have 4.5mm so I can't try that any time soon. [:@] |

At the moment i don't know it anymore how big that bolt was, but it was included in the kit.
I also drilled a small hole at the end of the bolt and and put a small metal wire in it an twisted that one. That way the bolt can't fall out anymore, maybe by vibrations during the transport(had that once with another plane) or you can unscrew it to far by yourself. Regards Ron |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Ron,
what have you done to make your fin removeable (if you have that), if using the second bolt that bolts the fin to the fuse, it is not possible to remove the fin when the thrusttube is installed ? |

ORIGINAL: cgroen Ron, what have you done to make your fin removeable (if you have that), if using the second bolt that bolts the fin to the fuse, it is not possible to remove the fin when the thrusttube is installed ? I think i did almost the same as you. There is the normal carbon tube on the rear of the fin and i had a aluminium tube in the front. Then i pushed the fin on its place, drilled a hole in the fuselage into the alu tube for the extra bolt. For the rear carbon tube i also drilled a hole in the fuselage. Now i can easely screw/unscrew the two bolts when fin is on its place. Regards Ron |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks Ron,
I have a carbon rod in the front (IIRC), but maybe the same idea can be used for me also. I also drilled a hole just below the horz. stabilizer for the clamp-screw, that one is easy enough to get to, but I'm more worried of the front screw if that will be ok to screw that one into the carbon rod in mine ? (Are there any "meat" around the front rod so the screw has something around it ?) |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Sandor, now i know why you offer a liftime warranty on the struts :D
You can get my Oleos if you want them ... |

Carsten,
what Sandor told is the same way i would do it.[sm=thumbs_up.gif] we have done this many times. Ron. |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Hmm,
you want pictures of our "under carriages", shame on you (Ron, I would be carefull if I were you) :D When I removed one of mine, there were oil over all, I hadn't noticed it was leaking, no more of that now ! |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Sverrir, so far i think you have the only Viper that doesn't have the ali rod at the front of the rudder. The bolt for the clamp was in the kit on mine. I can't take mine out easily to check what size it is for you unfortunately
|
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
No problem mate, I'll probably remove the clamp tonight to get a better look at it, will be interesting to see.
I was told that a 3mm allen fits on the supplied bolt so that suggest the bolt size should be 4mm. |
