Mine is now ready for it's maiden, which hopefully will be on saturday if the weather plays ball.
Dunc, finally! Looks great!

In the future people will look back and know this period as the 'ViperAge' with build time similar to that of the ice age, bronze age.......

:D

RE: Another Skymaster Viper

Had a few minor problems mate!

The pin needed grinding down to fit the oleo and it's made from some bloody hard stuff so that took me a while!

Then I found the hole for the steering linkage was on the opposite side to the original oleo I had so I swapped the linkage. The gear then wouldn't retract as the bearer needed cutting away to allow the linkage to pass [:@] One of the main gears also needed shimming to stop the oleo hitting the fuselage molding.

All sorted now so will fly this weekend!

I did also mount my new front oleo, I see why Sandor gives life-time warranty on them :D
I only had to remove a little of the former for the steering pin to pass it, only a couple of mm had to be shaved of
Otherwise everything was a piece of cake, just turn the steering to the opposite side, thats it (I did not have to do any other trimming)

Now I'm ready for grass [8D]

RE: Another Skymaster Viper

Yep, all sorted now and more ready for grass than it was before.

I only got the pin the night before a jet meet so I thought I'd finish the steering linkage setup at the event - ooops!

Mark you are missing out, telling everyone about loosing part of the linkage and emailing us in a panic !!!! lol :D

It will be interesting to see how the servo holds up under the pressure of a solid linkage on our bumpy grass fields. ;)

Mike,

Will be fine. Most of my jets have/had such a setup and I've never had an issue with the nose gear servo. Does often pain me to put a £80 odd servo (8411/8511) up front but maybe that's why I've never had an issue?

That's good to know, but an £80 servo that will upset my Rabi. :D

Mine is now ready for it's maiden, which hopefully will be on saturday if the weather plays ball.

I applied the Al's Hobbies Decal pack over the easter break and just have a few on the nose left to apply. The cross head screws look awesome on the panels, even if i do say so myself :D

And another one is also ready for it's maiden.[sm=teeth_smile.gif]
Tested all the systems last monday on the field, everything [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Hope to do the maiden flight very soon.

Regards Ron

Nice gear Ron :D
Good luck on the maiden, I bet Sandor has a 200SX ready if you don't have enough "umpf" in that small can :D

@ Mark and Carsten.

I didn't have any problems building in the new front oleo.
It could be that the holes for the retracts are drilled a few mm backwards or forwards.
I didn't have to do anything to fit the front oleo.
Only thing i needed to do was, just like you Mark, grinding the pin, but that was only 1 minute.
I put the pin in the drill, took some grinding paper and the pin was done in no time.

Don't need a 200SX, i will blow you away with the Merlin 160 (18,4 kg)[sm=biggrin.gif]
Since Sandor build in the 200SX in the Ultra Lightning there is also no 200SX left.
