Default Genesis weird problem

Heres one for ya,

i gun it, the engine revs i dont hear it shifting anymore, all of a sudden with my finger pegged on the throttle, the truck slows down like i was applying the brakes!

did another pass same thing reaches certain rpm and acts like im applying the brakes slows down then takes off again till it reaches that rpm again and then slows down yada yada you get the idea.

pulled truck back in, i see smoke and hear sizzling, check engine temp, its running rich, temp was only 200F, sizzling and light smoke sounded and looked like it was coming from somewhere around the 2nd spur gear clutch assembly but not sure. Hard to tell and by the time i got body off it had stopped.

Heres the weird part, the truck is in forward gear, normal operation, if you were to push the truck in one direction, the spur gears will spin, but then when you push the truck in the opposite direction they dont spin. this is normal and what it should do, when i tried to push the truck one way the spur gears would spin as they should have, when i tried to push the truck the other way ( the way where the spur gears are not supposed to spin) all 4 wheels just started dragging and it was like hung up, so i tried to spin the spur gears by hand in the direction they should free spin and they wouldnt!!! they were stuck

does it sound like one way bearing wasnt allowing free spin on the 2nd clutch assembly?

I pulled it off, couldnt find anything wrong with it,

anyone have any other ideas?

Just an idea, have you checked your 2nd & 3rd gear adjustments? When I first ran my Gen it never hit 3rd gear. I tried adjusting it to the point where it got all 'F'd up, second was locked up and at one point third got all screwed up. Then I just took both clutch drums out and did the adjustment, this way you could see the shoes and make sure they're adjusted evenly. Add one more turn to the adjusting screws that Cen recommends. The only hard part is removing the third gear clutch drum located in the trans case. I tried adjusting them assembled on the truck making sure I used the same amount of turns but could never get it right until I took it apart. Now it shifts in 2nd & 3rd all of the time. Hope this helps.[8D]

thanks for the info i think i know what happened, those set screws that are not offset in angle in the clutch push on some type of ball right? well i noticed when i took second gear off the tranny that if i had those two set screws that go to the balls too tight the 2nd gear would lock up, so i loosened them until the 2nd speed bell spun freely then readjusted the angled screws to the factory setting and will start over.

I only had those set screws in my third gear drum. Be carefull with those, I had to do the same thing you did and when I ran the truck again the set screws worked themselves loose. One actually came out and lodged itself between the drum and shoe. i then took it apart again and used JB weld on the threads to lock them into place. So far i haven't had any probs.
