I would have to say yes. The MT2 was my second ever truck and i never had any issues. It's pretty durable and easy to mod. Does almost 45 mph out of the box. If you are consider the MT2 though, you should look at the CEN magnum instead. It is basically the same as the MT2 but with a few extra things done, EG: better diff cups, chassis brace, 3.0 engine, etc. These are things that you would want to do to your MT2 anyway if you got one.

ITs one of the best performance truck and it cost a lot less compare to others
However, get the Magnum NX instead of the MT2. They are the same price but Magnum has more advanced chassis/drivetrain design, comes with bigger engine, bigger tank, faster....etc

Yes, I agree. The Cen MT2 is a very fun truck. Easy to work on, tear down, and rebuild. There are a few good engine options. Besides the powerful NT-16 factory engine, I have used the option engines such as OS .18, Epic .18, and my most recent install, a NX-3.0 .18 engine. In my opinion, the OS .18 engine is the best running and easiest to tune. The Cen MT2 is a fast MT truck, can obtain speeds up to 45+ mph, and beyond, I imagine with other engine options. The MT2 is very forgiving, with certain jumps and turns, as it has a "cat like" way of running around the track, with its 4 "tire" paws hugging the ground as you move around. This would be a great first MT for any newby. I own 4 of them.

Yep, Good Point to Mention. The Magnum is like the upgraded version of the Cen MT2. It already comes with the new NX3.0 .18 engine, so you dont need to upgrad the NT-16 engine. Also features a one piece chassis, where the Cen MT2 has a 2 piece. I would buy a Magnum if I was in the market for a new CEN. Costs about the same as the MT2 anyway. [8D]

Both the MT2 and the Magnum are comparable in gasoline consumption, about 10 to 15 minutes run's for each. Also, it depends mostly on the way you drive, how fast and the amount of heavy throttling that you do. But if you consider the basic facts that the NX 3.0 is a bit larger engine than the .16 of the MT2, then you could probably say that the NX 3.0 engine does consume fuel at a faster rate.

I own all the trucks, lst, savage, mgt, revo, gs storm suts. genesis, tnx the Mt2, and you know im always reaching for it instead of the others. Simple to operate, fast, Its attitude can't you beat me any harder, and still walking away unbroken, and ready for another hammering. A great truck for the bucks thats for sure. Im thinking about the nx magnum myself!! Why? I ask myself that everyday, I think its the bang for the buck and trouble free running you get. You gotta love the Cen MT2

I know the OS .18 CV-RX is a direct drop in. The standard on, not the short shaft. There are also some kits out there to drop a big block in it. Not sure about that specific motor, but with a little work I guess anything is possible.

Silverman,
Did you have any issues with the diff. cups and stripping of the spur gear? I sure did. It's a royal pain to get that one way bearing off the spur gear. How do you get it off and replaced?

Check out the CEN racing forum and do a search for diff cup mod. It is a simple easy cheap way to keep those diff cups from breaking. Wish I could tell you about that one way bearing but I never had to replace it because i switched to genesis steel spurs with the other Funfactor green/yellow tranny alum hubs. It just looks like a ver tight press in. Have you tried applying heat and the punching it out?

Thank you, Dustin. There's this c-ring that holds the one-way bearing in place. I"m not sure how to remove the c-ring. I suppose I'll have to bend it out, which seems so awkward, not to mention difficult. It's a touch c-ring. There has to be a cleaner approach than the brute "bend it out" and "cut up the spur gear" approach.

No issues with diff cups or stripping of the spur gear. I just kept her adjusted the way she was from the factory. Wuld not have a clue how to fix either with out taking it a part. Maybe i just don't beat my mt2 hard enough, This little truck has been trouble free, except for a bent driveshaft, and the aluminum shock tower on the rear of the truck got bent jumping it. Thats it though. Im drawing big time blanks on the actual name of the part I bent. Have any of you experienced brain farts like this before?? You know what the part is but you just can't think of it. Its a great truck for sure though.

i seen a cen mt2 run for a while at a freinds house..seemed like a great truck for the money..handled pretty well and super fast on top end..it seemed to lack a little bottum end..snap...maybe because it's geared super tall..it does go fast on top end..

Silverman1,
Are you referring to the dog bones? I still have my MT2. When it was running, I really enjoyed it. It ran with so much power and force. The diff. cups kept breaking, even on level grass. I understand that Cen now has an upgraded diff. cup. I hope to have the spur gear resolved so I can enjoy running it again. Glad to hear your MT2 is serving you well.

The C-clip that holds the spur gear in place is actually a circlip. If you look around and get a pair of circlip pliars they will fit into the two holes on either end of the clip and open it to allow you to remove it and then when you have replaced the spur gear you can open it again to refit it. Im on my third set of spur gears and my second one way bearing but my mt2 is quite old. Strangely though ive never had any problems with the diff cups.
