Default NEW EVADER SERVO

I am going to get [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDWF8&P=7]this[/link] servo to replace my stock steering one. Has anyone had any experience with it? Any comments on it, good/bad? What kind (and how much) of a change can i expect in my steering? Also, how hard is it to swap it out with the stock one? Any tips you could offer? I've put in lots of engine goodies, but im not too confident yet with the electrical stuff. I appreciate any help you could give. -thanks

What all is involved to run 6v? Do i just throw in [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD528&P=7]one of these[/link] ? I want the added speed and torque. Do i have to modify my battery box, or do they fit nicely in there?

yea it will fit but the only problem you might have is getting the wires to meet because of the weird place they are connected on the evader.....

The wires will fit just fine, I used one for a while (ended up breaking, sent it back to Tower, who sent me a Hobbico one for replacement o.O). Works nice. Considering a AA battery is 1.5v, 4x that is 6v. They say to use Nicads, but regular alkaline AA's will work fine, in my experience.

I think as far a power goes you cant go wrong with these [link=http://store.yahoo.com/batterynexus/ne21mahnireb.html]2100 mah batteries[/link]. Milliamp-hour indicates the battery’s charge capacity. The more capacity, the longer a battery will last in a given application. More power to the servo for a longer time. The duratrax hump pack only has 600mah. It's about the same as if you ran some normal 4 x aa alkaline.

I bought a Hitec HS-645MG ultra torque metal gear myself. Much better than the cheap Tower Hobbies servo. I also use WD-40 for all the steering parts. Easily turns and is smooth also.

I considered the Hitec HS-645MG, but is it really worth it to pay an additional 5.00 dollars for 9 more oz/in at 6.0V? The Futaba is almost as powerful, and at the same time lighter, as well as cheaper.

i dont use any oil on my steering (except bearings, i use royal oil for those). i wouldnt use oil on everything if i were you. you will get dirt inside the ball cups and it will wear the ball cups and ball studs. the only thing i ever lubercate on my truck is the bearings and engine(after run).

The power wire looks considerably shorter (in the pic) on the humpack then the one thats standard on the 4-AA battery holder. Do i need some kind of extenion for it to work, or will it reach?

and rechargeable AA batteries are 1.2v so 4.8v total not 6v

Not sure what a humpack is...or exactly what you are talking about. Maybe you need this: [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDXC9]DuraTrax receiver battery box with the long lead[/link]. Somewhere, I think with the radio, I got one with the short lead and it did not come close to reaching.

Yep your right! My rechargables are 1.2v. I can tell you that going from 6.0v down to 4.8 I have noticed only that my batteries last longer, My steering is much quicker. I have an ofna fail safe and if I run normal alkaline batteries it will say that my voltage is weak even at 6v. But with my rechargables it say's everything is fine. There must be something more to this. Good luck with whatever you go with I'm sure it will work out fine.
