yeah too lean...suprisingly you will eventualy like having the engine medium to lean with higher temps cause it will be better on the engine.

I'm here for the OS 18TZ report...

Damn it, the engine are having a hard time of starting it despite of my powerful starter box. I tried to open up the carb a liitle and it's fire up and i let it run it for abt 1 min before closing down the throttle. As usual, i run in the engine for 5 tankful as mention in the instruction before starting to tune it.

When i started to lean in on the HSN bit by bit and slowly, the devil is increasing it's acceleration to it SPEED!!!!! On my 7 tankful, i've got it to tune almost there. I used to run my Nosram .18 engine which is on par with my cousin 18ss engine. Today, it is totally different story!!

We used to count down from 3 to 1 and we are always keeping on par with my Nosram .18 and his 18ss engine. Today, i've OUT-RUN him in the whole rpm range. Especially on the acceleration to the mid. Our top end was almost the same, we are both using the stock gear ratio of 15 clutchbell and 49spur gear. The TZ is now way much more powerful engine and it is very strong on the acceleration speed which i believe this BAD-BOY are capable of pulling further more with a bigger clutchbell or smaller spur gear!!! I'm going to try out next 15 clutchbell with 47spur.

Overall, i'm very HAPPY with the purchase of this 18TZ. OS quality are top stuffs and they are truly live up to it name for the ease of tuning. Be it 18CV/18CV-RX/18TZ for your stadium truck, the OS engine is the WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers...

P.S. I'll like to take this chance to thanks 46U for his helps and tips given for those while... Cheers to you Jeff!!

Yes any high performance engine is more of a pain to break in then what most run a sports engine. Preheating the engine helps a lot. I wish I would have gone with a starter box but got the pull starter and was really a pain. Now after broke in no problem. In order to keep the front wheels on the ground with my TZ most of the time I had to gear it up to 16 CB and 47 spur. If you think it is fast now wait till you get about a gallon on it.
Glade to help anytime.

In regards to the heavy duty differentials. I had gotten one set but should I only install them if I have them for both front and rear? I was going to use the one set on what ever end goes first. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Yes you can go with one to start with will not hurt anything. I have not had any problems so far with my front one all ways seemed to be the rear and then only a few times.

46u,

Guess I need to get the TZ now. Sounds like a great upgrade to the CV-R.

First what engine do you have and second no two settings are going to be the same. Things like weather, altitude and driving style have to do with where you settings will end up. I recommend you start with the factory settings and tune from there.

Yes the TZ is one wicked engine and if you want something that is way over powered it is the way to go.

Like I said before you will have to set them to factory settings and re tune. There is no way to tell you what is correct unless we where there to tuned it. If I tuned it here at my house when you got to your house it would have to be re tune. Tune changes even from day to day and I have seen it change from morning to afternoon if there is a big change in weather. Sorry but this is all any one can tell you.

HSN turn in till it bottoms but be careful not to over tighten just where it stops back it out 3 turns.
LSN flush
Could not find much on idle but I would say about 1mm
Got this off HPI web site.

Did you look on Tower Hobbies? I pretty sure they have paddle tires but there is nothing cheap about Tower Hobbies. If you are going to run in snow make sure you waterproof your electrics as well as possible.

Hey, fellow Minnesotan! Spraying the vehicle down with WD-40 after a snow run works wonders, once the snow has been blown or melted off.

I have to make some questions (perhaps silly for someone).

Which is the best engine, 18ss - G3.0 - OS CV-RX?
I have tried to find specifications but I was confused [].
Now I own the T-15 engine with rotostart. Will I be able to use the roto start with one of these engines? What I mean is If I can adjust the back plate in order to use the same roto start?
Thank you.

The OS .18 CV-RX is definitely a much better quality motor than the HPI motors. You cannot use the T-15 rotostart with the OS motor. But the pullstart is a great way to go because you don't have to deal with the problems that come with the rotostart when parts break.

Don't waste your time with the 18ss, G3.0 or t-15 engine. The OS quality and performance beat the 3 engines hand DOWN!!

I did came across that one of the HPI roto-back plate are able to fit in the OS 18 CV-RX without any mod. You may need to check that out with some of our members here.

Cheers!!

does anyone else have the problem of air bubbles in there primer line? if so could you tell me what you did to fix it? because i found that this is what is makeing my truck hard to start because it will start with gas in the carb but when it runs through the gas and into an airbubble i dies because of the lack of gas. i think that i may have a pinhole in the primer pump which is letting air in and makeing it hard to start so any help would be apreciated .
