Has anybody shimed (sp?) the pinions on the diffs? If so, did it work good?

Reason I ask is both my front and rear diff pinion shafts have quite a bit of play, and I had thought about trying to shim the play out some if it's possible.

Thanx!
Yeah I shimmed my pinnion gear as well as my diff on the crown gear side.

what do you guys think about using small pieces of fuel tubing in the place of o-rings in the front diff cups of an MT2. there is too much play in the dogbone diff cup, when the wheels turn the outside ball of the dogbone comes partially out of the wheel-cup and it is damaging. sometimes the dogbone comes out all together. what I wanna do is cut a piece of fuel tube that is a little bigger than the o-ring to make the dogbone have a snug fit....not too tight, but tight enough to hold it in there.
what do you guys think
thanks for the answers guys, glad to know that a few others thought of the same thing. I will move ahead on that...i am sick of searching for dogbones while the others are driving[&o]

If you upgrade the diffs and shim them properly you wont have any problems

It will work fine. You will just have to re-tune it a bit.

that sucks man. Its been really dry here for just about 5 weeks. It looks like its going to rain right now there calling for it tomorrow. I have burned a galon of fuel already this spring lol. That video was taken from about 7 hours of bashing, not all of that was running time but you know how it goes run for a bit adjust things tuning and all that stuff. There is alot of construction going on here so there are alot of good bashing spots here your going to have to get some vids of the tz soon man

I had an ebay order get lost in the mail - globman on eby is a great seller and backs his sales to a fault. The lost order has kept my MT2 G3 offline for the whole time. I have two mt2's. Actually I have anMT, Mt2 (with a G3) and an Mt2G3 with most of the SS upgrades to represet the whole family. I had my fun with the Mt2 with the G3 and am going to sell it and move on to the full G3 that I built that is in brand new condition. I even have two brand new HPI bodies for it that havn't seen any driving time (actually the whole truck is new). I bought some great shocks today, not GPM, they are a higher grade aluminum and look really cool. Pictures are coming.

Don't look at spring colours, look at the number of coils. The less coils means stiffer springs.

Eminent,
Good video, that looks like a killer place to bash. What is it? The only negative is that you are driving a traxxas truck (I really don't like traxxas trucks). I would love to take videos and have a camera and can edit easily but because I don't drive with anyone its hard to get video because I only have two hands. I plan on doing some driving where I work that has some great hills so I will try to get a video posted. There are three hobby shops in the area and a lot of drivers but I havn't been successful in finding them yet....

I have a fleet of HPI RCs but only get a litre or so in a week with one truck - too many trucks, not enough time. Its frustrating but at the very least my trucks are alsways in perfect shape to drive when I do get out.

Traxxas has been good to me lol that spot is so much fun its about 1/4 mile square there is one hill thats about 60-80 feet tall the curved ones are about 20 feet and the small one we were launching off of is about 10-12 feet tall. We just bought a tripod for the camera and a 16 gig card so we have something like 360 hours of recording time lol we just set it up and go. I bought some of those team blue star shocks for my rc's I found that there not consistand some are really stiff some are soft and so on. I busted every one of mine and I bought 8 of them. But I bet you any money that im the hardest on my rc's out of anyone here. I have launched my mt2 with the os 18tz off of a 30 foot tall hill from about 100 feet away full out top speed and I bet you any money that I had about 3 or 4 seconds of air time lol. That only busted......... lets see........... just about everything a arms chassis was bend engine mount shocks steering parts and so on lol. I couldnt get it to land right so it nose dived and cartwheeled for about 20 feet on really hard ground lol.

I have both and don't think you can go wrong with either truck. The MT2 is a bit of an older design than the FS. I am biased towards the storm for no stand-out reason.

3 weeks is a long time. I would be emailing them now and find out what happened to the stuff. Maybe something was backordered? They should have notified you though. I always ask for a tracking number so I know when to expect a delivery. Helps keep on top of the sellers and UPS/USPS...
