i just got an hpi rush that i traded a psp for i have a problem starting it. its got good compression, fuel is going to the engine, and the glow plug is good. any ideas on what it might be.
it was running the day my cousin got it from his friend he said it is very temperamental some days it will start right away and sometimes it will take 20 minutes. i was thinking it might be the one way bearing.

I do not beleive the one way bearing would keep it from starting some days and not others. If it is the original 15fe motor, then my guess would be the motor is shot. Those motor were ABN motors and wore out a heck of alot quicker than the newer ABC motors. You might also want to check you fuel tank for leaks, maybe even your fuel line. Was the engine properly cared for?

If it's got good compression then your motor is fine.Is your motor turning over or is it slipping? If it is slipping then I'd say you owb needs a good cleaning or needs replaced.Make sure glow plug is good and glow ignighter is fully charged. Are you priming the motor?

sometimes even if it is a new plug, it still may be junk. I always use OS plugs and dont really have a problem. The cheaper plugs are just that CHEAP!!! So it is never worth it to go cheap with your plugs, after all it is a key factor in the proper running of your engine. PLease do let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Best of Luck Brother

your flywheel should not be easy to turn over by hand, if it is then your sleeve and piston are getting old. Leaks can happen in the fuel lines, fuel tank or the engine. Take your fuel tank out and blow some compressed aitr into it at a reduce PSI. Take off you fuel lines and plug one end and blow through the other. ANd as far as the engine goes, check that everything is tight, make sure you are properly shimmed in the head and try blowing through the carburetor with the top and bottom of it plugged

If you have no compression your wasting your time on this engine.Look on the bay for a new motor 12to18 there are tons of options out there that would make the rush go pretty good. You can get a solid motor for under 100 no problem, won't be the best powerhouse motor but will be decent and easy to tune with good overall reliability. You could rebuild the motor you have but honestly it's not worth it.Good luck and if you need help on picking a motor just pm or post what your looking at.
