Does it make any sense for me to go for 3 days, with only 2 contests at the intermediate level under my belt? Would it really be worth it or better to try for a full week and with more practice next year?

I completely agree. The amount of information gained from meeting people from all over. Seeing different planes, styles and everything else is amazing along with the chance to meet all these people whose names you see, but never met. I will promise you, that no matter how well prepared you are, your knees will be shaking at your first flight at the NATS, but after that, the shaking relaxed quite a bit at your next local contest. Plus you get to say that you competed at the Nationals and you wouldn't be the first person who was surprised just how well they did when they weren't sure they were ready.

Joe,
You've already flown against some of the best in Intermediate at our contest in St Clairsville and in the D4 Champs in Hebron. If the Nats fit your time and budget, go for it.
I haven't flown in a Pattern Nats yet, but I do have several SAM Champs under my belt, and my experience went like this:
At the beginning of the contest I was just trying to stay out of the way. Here were all these great builders and flyers I'd heard so much about! After a couple of days I came to realize that they were very good, but not gods. They're just model airplane guys like you and me.
And where would you rather be than flying with the best?
Scott

Hi
In some earlier post there are comments about International pilots flying at your National Championships 2011.
We did receive your invitation to fly through the World Championship bulletins and entered early in the year, thank you for the invitation.
It would not want to get involved in any politics or rules about your National Championships, but as the GBR (United Kingdom) Team Manager who stayed on with two members of the UK Team to fly after the World Championships, I would like to thank all concerned for your hospitality and friendly way in which we were included in all aspects of your Nationals 2011. We really did appreciate your consideration to make our stay as good as possible.
As well as putting faces to names and meeting everyone it was a super experience.
Thank you AMA, thank you NSRCA, thank you USA.
Sincerely
Ashley

Arch,
At the 2011 Nats, the schedule was changed because the Worlds. How is the schedule this year? We process airplanes and competitors on Sunday and flying starts Monday? Please clarify. Thanks

Rene,
There is no real "processing" of the airplanes at the NATS. Sunday is the day of the pilot's meeting, and also, if you need certified as a judge, a seminar will take place as well. We will have a courtesy weigh in and sound check set up so that pilots can have access to the equipment to verify they are with in the rules, but the actual weighing will take place during the contest after flights, and Masters and FAI finalists will be sound checked.

Thank you Arch. After the reply from Glenn I rechecked the NSRCA site and found the info. I'm guilty of laziness for not looking far enough at the NSRCA website. Sorry.
Thanks to all.
