Couple of quick questions since I am playing catch up.

First - what time is the pilot's meeting on Saturday? I cannot make it up for Friday so what time do you plan to start on Saturday?

Second - is it still the plan to cut-off Sportsman and Intermediate so there is time for the upper classes to fly?? As I understand it Intermediate will end at Figure #14 the Diamond loop, is that correct? And is landing still being judged so there are 15 figures instead of 19??

Third - what is the entry fee again? And I assume that Intermediate and Sportsman will still pay full price??

Chip,

I think you have some other stuff going on there Friday, is there also open pattern practice all day long? I haven't flown many flights this year and need a lot of practice/setup. Also, I'll be glad to judge the classic or the little plane races seeing as I have neither plane/mode..

Pilots meeting Sat 8 am sharp.
Registration will be open on from 4pm-6pm on friday and then again from 7-730am Sat Morning
(Sat. is only for people would could not make it in on Fri.)

Second - is it still the plan to cut-off Sportsman and Intermediate so there is time for the upper classes to fly??

That was never a thought from our end or had anything to do with shortening the patterns. The reason the patterns were shortened is to try and encourage some new comers to give it a try. This did work as designed so we will see our first Sportman pilots of 2012.

The Entry Fees are as follows
$40.00 for standard AMA and FAI
$30.00 for Old School Masters
$60.00 if you fly both

and yes its full price. We are not charging you guys more even though you will fly more flights then the other classes and take precedent over all the other pilots on Fri.

Cool. If the idea was to attract Sportsman pilots why was Intermediate also shortened? It is what it is, I was just curious. See you bright and early Saturday. Wish I could make Friday, but my jerk boss won't let me go [:@] BTW, I was joking about the entry fee, I should have used more [8D]

Thanks Chris can't wait to see all you guys again its been a while. I can't believe it everyday I am getting calls from guys and everyone just seems so excited to get here. I mean when do you think the designers of the Deception, Dirty Birdy, Patricia, Ceptor, UFO, Jekyll, Silloutte, Visa etc. were all at the same field together. I think this will be a first.

Of course this is a serious contest and will be run as fair as possible but everyone having a good time is a huge part of this.

I have rescently been to a couple contests out of state that were almost the ones that broke the camels back so to speak. I assure you as competitors you only need to worry about flying well. You will have compentant Judges for every round, and they will be from differnt areas not just Bakersfield. Our goal here is to make everyone feel at home and actually look forward to coming back.

No Problem. Intermidiate was shortened because I thought that might be why Intermidiate has only had one entrant this year as well. I just took a shot that 19 of the same thing was not helping attract new people. We will know soon enough. See you Sat.

I can't argue that the sequence seems overly long and repetitive [&:] Not sure why pattern has gone to such long sequences while IMAC has stuck to the 10 figure format which seems to work really well. L8TR.

Same boat here. My jerk boss won't let me get out in time to get up there Friday during the fun. See you all at the pilot's meeting.

I have cleared my weekend and hope to still be able to join in. I sent an electronic pre registration already. The RV is packed and my stuff is ready. Gonna need some help, as the last time I flew pattern was about 13 years ago and it was novice. Just hope it's not too embarrassing!!  Tony told me about this contest and got me hooked with the Gee Bee!!  Look forward to meeting everyone, especially Mr. Bridi!!  I think I'm going to bring my Escape that's being rebuilt!

I'm in the same boat as well... my boss (me) has me working tomorrow... I hope to let myself out a little early though... probably get down to Arvin just in time to see the sun set and eat a late dinner.

You and I seem to have the same type of boss. I'd quit, but then he'd just follow me around all the time bothering me and even sleep in my bed at night!! Better not to irritate him too much.

JSchoolcraft - Not flying often and rarely practicing is the clever tactic I too employ. It provides a win-win for the pilot. If you do well then you are a God among men since you never practice and have the skills to allow you to place well. If you do poorly the reason is built-in. I mean, what did you expect, I never practice or enter contests very often!! But 13 years beats my 3. Well played Sir!!! [&:]

Silent - Good call!!  And last I flew, I competed with a quickie 500!!  Can't go wrong there either!!  I have seriously have been bitten by the rc bug again.  I think a lot of it is to to modern electrics, and most of all 2.4 (aka "The Fight Stopper").  Looking forward to a great weekend!  And btw my boss sucks too, but he is letting me leave this afternoon.  But hell to pay on Monday!!!

I just got a call from Jon Carter. He is at the Bear Mountain flying field right now and said it is amazing, lots of people, airplanes, activity. If today is an indication of what the weekend will be like, it will be a blast. Being one of those that can't attend, I think Jon was just rubbing it in. Jon, YOU"RE KILLING ME HERE!!!

Hello,

Hopefully some one will be able to post a few photos. I am really curious to see some of the classic planes.
