Boy, I just can't win
The red/white and black is the only scheme that does not make the plane look like a fish
Chuck, call me if you need more wood from the balsa forest

Hello Chuck and Mark!
I love it.
I would be willing to bet, though that two layers of silkspan clear-doped then shot with analine dye in dope thinners will be stiffer lighter and soooooo cool looking.
the very BEST regards,
Dean Pappas

BTW, I am covering this plane with Balsa USA solarspan, antique.
It is awesome to work with, goes around curves with ease, tighens up nicely and it adheres nicely to the structure.

If the kit is made available, it will be all laser cut except for stringers.
Sheeting is laser cut as well, we arew making notes as to mistakes or changes in construction.
I do not plan to fill the weave at all, it was my intention to give this bipe a lot of character and I think the weave is part of that.

Don't know the weight of solarspan. Sounds like it has the adhesive built in.
Polyspan lite adhered with balsalock might be lighter. Balsalock is water based and can be sprayed or brushed. I also have some other great water based spray on adhesives that are heat activated when dry. Contact me direct....
Many Free-flighters do what Dean suggested, 2 layers silkspan. Some free-flighters change the technique and apply lite polyspan first and then come over the top with coloerd tissue such as Plyspan Esaki. Builds into a very light but stiff-strong structure that is puncture resistant. Polyspan must be preshrunk with heat before the esaki. Look in any Free-Flight websites for supplies
