OK, as you say. To me it's vertical speed was slower then my Contra powered Episode. But as I said, it was a new model with very few flights on it.

Wow, that looks like you'd have to get a little creative to fit a gas engine's pipe in it.

TonyF,

Just wondering if you have any overheating issues with your YS......it looks to me that the air intake area is far too small

kind regards

It's not my model. But I'll let Alex know. I only fly the electric Contra system in F3A.

Hi. Mavros
my YS 175 is still new engine and needle is way open for break-in with 18.1X11 APC prop.
I think, Invitation model is able to fly with YS 140 power. it is finshed weight is 4,740gram with out fuel. It is very light !
personaly, I like glow power a lot....
And following planis trying to use YS 185 Zero nitro engine. It will be another fun part.
alcohol fule price is low as gasoline price.

I noticed looking at the photos of the engine area, it appears to be installed on a wood rail mount system? I would appreciate it very much , if someone could elaborate on this and post a few pic's of the rails installed.

Thank's

The exit area treatment has as much to do with cooling as inlet area does. So does ducting around the engine. If the cowl is done right, with a duct immediately behind the inlet in the cowl, the inlet should work okay in most climates. It's surprising how little it really takes. Very hot climates (Arizona, Texas) may present a problem in the Summer.

I've started having problems with the os plugs. Kind of sounded like I was getting some sort of detonation while in the midrange area. Top end seemed to be alright. Had to change the first plug after 12 flights. Developed a problem keeping it running. Now the 2nd plug isn't working well after 3 flights. Same problem keeping it running. That's enough experimentation for me. Going back to the ignition, this is getting to aggravating.

Hi m,

I am no expert but it sounds like your pump may be set on the rich side.
What fuel are you using.

Hi. Bill
hereis more pic of engine mount area.

It is the engine mount assembly with stock parts. Laminated fiberglass with 24hour epoxy resen.

View from back of fire wall.

When installing the engine. it's use YS super mount with 10mm fitted up from mount base.

To the engine vibration has a protection device inside the fuselage and step joint.

Also, here is some cooling plan.
Due to the hi-profile designe, I put some form for help to the cooling of the engine head area.

Recommended to ues the long length plug heater.
It is real deep....!

I'm use Rapicon 30% fuel fo my 175 engine. This fuel is way better than other glow fuel.
This Rapicon fuel is significantly better feel compared to other fuels. At 2013 F3A world championship, Paysant-Leroux Christophe was used it.

will update soon... and see you at the field.

I think this model would be more marketable if the wings and stab were fully painted for the GP

Hi Alex,

I don't plan on running a CDI version, either my 170DZ or the 185 non ignition, still deciding on the power plant. I will probably start with the 170 and move to a 185 later, can I purchase that fuel by the case? How does it compare to the Cool Power 30% Heli?

Thank's

BTW...Hope you are doing well...

Alex brought his Invitation to the Tailwinds field today and now that the freshly rebuilt 175 has been broken in and he has it set well it has plenty of power. BTW, his ran very well with an extremely nice idle. Impressive.

Hi ~ Guys

For the last two months I have been extremely busy with my jobs. so I hardly touch my plane, very recently I got back my invitation building up again.
I have ordered the engine parts and servo, and prepared my own design Hyde type soft mount with a motor bike inner rubber tube.
actually, yesterday, I re-started building up.

1. Servo
JR 8305 servo for rudder, aileron. JR 3401 for elevators for each. I think they are not the high end, but good enough I guess.

2. Hyde type soft mount
I designed it. a friend of mine made it with his laser cutter. I think it's OK in functional, but it's quite heavy, 140g. need to be downsized or find anther way to reduce the weight.
I had to make my own firewall for fitting with GT33 instead of the original kit one.

3. Engine installation.
before installing, I insert GT33 through the engine room space without extra cutting. it's possible to insert but very tight, better cut out the engine room entrance hole a bit.
The Invitation has large space of engine room, so no problem with installing the GT33 with Hatori option muffler.

4. Location & Installation of the Hatori option muffler.
I measure the space and location of the Hatori muffler in the middle of the fuselage. I'm pretty sure there is enough space for the muffler
it won't be any problem.
.

I will keep posting the whole process how to install the GT33 into my Invitation successfully.
