I used the stock generic Dave Brown/VirbaDamp/VonLinsowe mount.
Started with a YS91 then after about 30 flights upgraded to the YS110.
Now after more than a years time and about 6 gallons of fuel through both motors combined -same original mount & isolators, I can't identify any wear on the isolators yet. Expecting them to wear out quickly I did purchase some Dave Brown isolators and they look like they'll fit the original mount, but I haven't had to try them yet.
The only problem I've had is screws loosening. But I've read posts of many people with many different types of mounts have screws work loose over time

I have at least balanced the bird and run the Tiger Shark 90. On the stock muffler, did pretty well, I think, turning the APC 14 x 6 recommended at about 9500, not leaned down yet. Pulled pretty good.
What was really neat was setting up the "UNIFLOW" tank three line system....very nice, can hardly wait to fly it... explanation here [link=http://www.rcaerobats.net/uniflow_tank_setup.htm]Uniflow[/link]
As for balance, well the 8.2 all up weight permitted the battery to be just at the CG location of 7". No ballast anywhere. Also the throttle servo is up in the engine bay, and I'm using a Tru Turn 3" instead of 2.75, fwiw.
Sure need some flyable weather now...........

I have an Excelleron 90 with a YS 110 4 stroke in it. It's a dream to fly. Made a couple of mods on it with the help of Troy N and Tony F: used push rods instead of cable, and changed hinges. Had to reinforce the landing gear. Have had no trouble with the engine mount at all.
It's a beauty of a pattern plane.

Kirk: The horse, bones - HOW IS THE HORSE??
Bones: He's dead, Jim!
Spock: It would seem logical, Captain, that we stop beating the horse,
given it's current deceased state. It would also be redundant of me to
mention the lack of relation between this particular deceased horse and
building and flying the Excelleron 90, but my 1/2 human side forces me
to state that fact.....

I agree about the Excelleron / YS 1.10 combo. Tom and I were just discussing the possible
merits of an Infinity .90 compared to the Excelleron. Although the Infinity looks pretty , it
would really surprise me if it flies better or even as good as the Excelleron. This airplane is
capable of some extremely good scoring if flown by a good pilot , it sure flies better than I
can fly it at the moment. Gonna take some serious practice before next season.
I've tried a few advanced maneuvers just to see what it's capable of and it can do anything
the pilot knows how to do. It has a very pretty break just before it enters a spin (either direction)
and it snaps very sharply stopping instantly when the controls are neutralized. The roll rate can
be as smooth or as fast as you want as the ailerons are very effective. The rudder authority
is unbelievable , performs knife edge loops without even using full deflection !!
This is the easiest airplane to land I have ever flown , just line it up with the runway and basically
leave it alone until right before touchdown. If you have to stretch the landing it will float for a very
long way without any wing tip dropping.
They must be built pretty straight as mine is flying right now with no trim changes since the first
flight , just the way it came off the building table. The only change I'm considering is maybe a
3 or 4 blade prop but it's flying so good now I'll probably leave it alone.
I'm pretty sure there are probably better airplanes out there but to say I'm happy with my
Excelleron is an understatement , especially for what it costs. My only regret about this
airplane is I didn't buy another one when Hobby People had them on sale for $199.95

Hey Bob,
I have the CG on mine at the farthest back recommended setting which if my memory
is working is 7 1/4" back from the leading edge of the wing measured at the fuselage
sides. The ready to fly weight , minus fuel, is slightly under 8 lbs. (weighed on my grocers
digital scale) that's as close as I can get.
Hey Jeff,
I've been keeping my eyes open for that too. It went on sale before the maiden flight on
mine so I couldn't talk myself into buying another one until I saw how this one flew. I've
been kicking myself ever since.

P.S. on another note: Just picked up another YS 1.10 for my backup ship from Radio South.
They had them in stock as of a couple of days ago.

You guys better be watching them really close.
They put the Excelleron 50 size on sale last week for $179. I just looked to see & sure enough its back at the regular price already.
Tommy I purchased another 50 size - I couldn't pass it up at $179.00

Bob,
Let me know how the .90 hauls it around. I'm finishing a new Widebody as a
backup for next season but I'm thinking about getting another Excelleron and putting
the new 1.10 in it and completing the Widebody with a MVVS .91 that I already have.
Hey Eddie,
How have you been , you keepin Nat in line ?
You've seen both of them fly , how does the 50 size Excelleron compare to the 90 size ?
What engine are you using ? I noticed the 50 uses a flat stab , can you tell any difference ?
I've been thinking about a 50 for a practice ship but waiting and hoping they put the 90 back
on sale.
GDAVIS,
Sorry for the late reply. The number for the Fliton dealer here is 281-265-8686 .
He told me they were going to sell them for $340.00 but shipping from here to Oklahoma
will kill you. I bought a plane from Russ Honea at Pattern Proz and it cost $40.00 to ship
it to Houston.

I haven't flown the Excelleron 50. I sold it to a flying buddy. I've seen him & his son fly it 3 times.
He set it up with a Saito 72 and performance was good.
It flew straight witih only a few clicks of trim and lands easy as the 90 size.
His AUW is 5pounds & 14 ounces.
I intended to set it up with the Irvine 53 and may still do that. I just picked up another one while Hobby People had them on sale for $179. I beleiver it will fly good enough to pull out as a backup at a contest.
RE your note about 4 blade props for the 91, Nat's been running them for quite a while. I'll get the size info for you. I do know some of them he re-pitched, but I don't remember the size or pitch of his 4bladers.

Yes he does AND he has already shown me how he does it.
All we need is a Prather Pitch Gauge and a copy of his "custom" jig for doing the repitching. I've heard of people just twisting them with pliers between their knees. You know Nat's gonna be more precise than that
I'll get you a pcture of it sometime.
