Hello all,

is there a Genesis kind owner that can measure wing airfoil thickness at the root and at the tip?

Just for curiosity and to do some comparison with the plane I'm building. From the pictures it seems quite thin... Also, wing trailing edge thickness? CPLR style (8mm!!!) or less?

Thank you!!!

rgreen
I used the hyde control horns from Central Hobbies, and for the elevator I used 2 servos under the rudder,
mounted to the pipe floor with the carbon pushrod set from Central Hobbies
Aresti-RCU
I would leave the pipe floor in, and for the motor mount just use a lite-ply ring behind your motor mount
to keep the blind nuts from pulling through the balsa firewall. That is how I did it on my ARF Genesis
and it works great. My Genesis ARF with a DZ 140 weight 10.7 oz RTF with NI-Cads

Has anyone used retracts on a Genesis ?....at our field retracts last longer & are less of a hassel...I'm building from kit....do you think I should extend the wing joiner so that the wings would be able to take the extra stess of the landing?[]....how far forward of the wing joiner should I put the wheels

Hey Aresti, It sounds like you have the basic Genesis kit. Where did you get it?

Directly from the manufacturer. I´ve been living in Argentina since March although I spent my summer (northern hemisphere) vacation at home in the Steel City.

Todd can you show a few more pictures of your electric setup? Are the two servos shown in the picture above controling the elevators?

It is hard to tell from the picture but are those elevator pushrods supported? Any reason for switching from servos in the stab with a short connecting rod to this setup?
Which servos are yo using?
Thanks
Stuart

Stuart,
The servos are Futaba 9650's the same as I used in the stab on the glow verson.
The reason for the servos in fuse is some of the of the genesis did not have the
cut outs in the stab for the servos, so it was easier to mount them in the fuse.
The pushrods are supported in the fuse, here is a pic a little blurry but I think you will get the idea.

Hi Todd,
how did you mount the two 9650 in that position? I see from pictures that these servo have supports for side mouting: how can insert the servo in his hole with those supports? Have you cut them??? ;P

I cut the side mounts off and used 1/16 ply to hold the mounting screws on the bottom of
the floor

Todd is the supplied gear big enough to run a 18" prop?

I am running a 20 x 13 using the standard gear and 2 1/4in wheels, so you won't have any problems
with the 18in prop

Todd,

Could you please post pics of the engine bay and the fuel tank setup in your (of course) glow engined Genesis? My wings are done, and I am working on the stabs right now. I will start doing some work on the front fuselage this coming weekend...

I don't have the glow Genesis anymore, I sold the plane after the nats
Put the tank in just in front of the wing tube and use a lite-ply ring to hold the blind nuts
on the motor mount. I have a pic of the electric that is done the same way but you don't
need to cut the firewall out for the glow

Todd,

Would you mind measuring the distance between the leading edge and the nose ring and also from the trailing edge to the nose ring?
I am dry fitting the wing and it looks way back from the pictures....

The stab tip blocks also are almos 1" longer than the cores + leading edge....

Kind of confused here

The distance between the nose ring and leading edge is 14 1/2 inches
and from the trailing edge to the nose ring is 32 1/4
My finished stab tips are 1 1/4 x 5 1/2
Hope this helps, if not let me know

Well, the stabs are dead on 5 1/2. The wing indeed has the same chord as implied in your response. However the LE ends up a full 1 1/2 inches behind the measured point at 14 1/2 from the nose ring. The wing tube is right on the fuselage marking but I guess the wing tube is located further forward than the designed point. I am starting to think I got the wrong wing...

Sorry for the delay, On my Genesis wing the center of the tube is 9 3/4 from the trailing edge
and on the fuse, the center of the tube is 22 1/4 from the nose ring.

Thanks Todd. I guess I got the wrong wing. The wing tube ies correctly positioned on the fuse as per your measurements.

RGreen, I am using futaba 9550s in the wings, 9650s in the elevators, and 9450 in the rudder control.
