So what has happened? has it snapped? or is it just wonkey in shape? You should probably be able to contact flair/gsp for a replacement. What props are people going for on these? I've got a 14x6 at the moment for my tt120 and not sure if this will give the desired thrust.. any suggestions would be welcome.

Dave,
Fair have gone bust.
Get it from Jamara, I would probably
be able to get you one from Als. I will be
there today.

Also, have you got a pic of your UC / Spat arrangement
from underneath?

Got the business end all sorted. Cowling/belly pan needed slight trimming to allow carb and needle to fit. I have had to make my own pipe mount, and I've also install another belly pan screw to help keep it secure.
Only problem i've found is that the spinner i've bought will not close together around the 14" APC prop because the prop's too thick. Any ideas?

Dave

ps. anyone flying one of these at the moment? would like to hear what it's like to fly, any inflight shots would be good to see.

The TT120RP should give you all the vertical you want, please keep us informed how the engine perform.
Is it the only 120 2-stroke rear exhaust engine in the market ?
What prop size are you using 14x10 14x12 ?
Thick propellers and small spinners can be a problem.
Why not try a 15 or 16 prop, 14 seems to be a little small for that power plant.

I know the MVVS .91 is available in rear or side exhaust. I do not know of any 120 R/E engines. I'm going to look at getting a 15x8, I think the 14x6 will be too small. Finding the TT120pro could be a bit difficult now as TT have discontinued it in favour of the side exhaust version! (why I dont know!)

Will let you know how it performs. I'm expecting good things.

I am building a Infinity 90 with the MVVS 91 (rear exhaust config)
Have ordered a Perry VP-30 just in case. Those long fuel lines (12-13 inch) give me head ace.

For the MVVS I think 14x8 APC will be a OK choice for a start. Maybe try some bigger props later.
For a 120.. 15x8 and bigger seems more correct.

Sorry for my crappy E

Hello Dave

I have a Leo with a TT120RP installed in it.
The plane flies quite well with the stock settings, but the CG needs to be moved back a bit to make it fly like it should.
It rolls on a line and stays in knife edge using rudder only. Spins are easy, you don't even have to use aileron.
Verticals are not a problem if the engine is in the right mood..
To be honest this engine is a piece of crap.
I aready had to repair the pump (airleak at the high pressure side) and replace the screw that holds the rotating part (barell maybe?) of the carb.
I'm using a MenzS 15*10 and it's adequate. I had to install bigger wheels to take off from grass, but if you have a paved runway the original landing gear will suffice.
Because of some deadstick landings in tall grass i had to rebuild the area holding the landing gear.
If i knew that it was made of paperlike plywood, i would have done it prior to maiden.
First i had a holder for the exhaust pipe just like yours. It lasted only a few minutes before it parted from the wing.
Now i'm using something that is a lot more elastic.
You can see some pictures on my "website" at http://zaquron.fw.hu

Regards,
Zaquron

BTW according to my calculations the CG should be at about 170mm (mine is @ 165mm now with some lead in the tail)

Hi Zaquron,

I will implement some of your mods on my Leo. I am going to add more air vents, as I dont have many. My TT120 is a strong runner, I do not think it will be unreliable. I presume your pipe stays with and connected to the wing? you slide the pipe off the header when the wing is disconnected? I'm going to use an APC 15x8 and see how it goes. I will achieve max throws and movement, and use expo and see if I can get it to hover..... what do you think? Am I expecting too much from this design?

Cheers
Dave

Dave

i'm using max throws too.
If the engine would be reliable enough i could prophang all day long
Rolling harriers are effortless, but it's undoubtedly NOT a 3D plane.
Set the throws per instructions and do some pattern flying instead (if you can)
The pipe is bolted to the wing, so when it's disassembled it slips out of the large silicone tube.
During flight it is fixed with cable ties.

regards
Zaquron

ps. My website is being updated 'coz some of the links were wrong.
Check again later if you want to see all of the pics in full size.

My Leo is coming along, thanks for the tips in this thread.

What are we doing for cooling exit holes?

We have the engine and exhaust pipe fully enclosed - where is that heat going to go?

Thanks for any more tips.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Zaquron has some good venting on his.

I have copied this. I have also had a change of plan regarding engine. I've taken the TT120 out, and replaced it with a YS 120 4c.

More to follow.....too many projects! currently trying to sort out a retract problem in my Hawk wing!

I was planning to use a TT120pro rear exhaust 2stroke engine......I've since decided to use a YS120 instead. I will be flying my Leo shortly. Others on this thread have flown their models.

Cheers
Dave
