One bolt is it. It has some type of epoxey to help with the holding power with the bolt An on the tail filler material,I used just one peice of balsa and a lot of sanding an fitting. On the section were the fin an fuse meet would it look better with a large peice or smaller These are two different shots, rough shots., But an idea. Big or small?

I would. But sometimes perhaps the engine can't be removed from some installations without also removing the nose ring.
And the nose ring must be configured a bit differently,or is it the same with one ear lopped off?
I wonder what the reasoning is behind this new improved version?
I never like the old ARIA mount,so the ARA is going in my Black Magic, with suitable nose stiffener.

Yes just a hole for the glow plug and one in the front for cooling.
Allow for that glow plug igniter to move around with the soft mount. In other words, make it bigger than it needs to be.
And yes cut the gear in half, and use 2-3 screws in each half.
I'm about to load up and head out the door for Jax, see y'all next week!

Hey Wendall,
I'll try and get some photo's of the V1 this weekend, that's the plane in your picture and the BM I flew at hunstville. I can tell you I am the happy and proud owner of that baby.... And now that I converted it to YS DZ- 140 it's sweet!!!!
I love that scheme too!
the PPG Concept colors from Tony (radio south flying colors) are
Cub Yellow
Metalic Blue
White
Black
True Red - all monokote matches
I have a couple of flights with a 4-bladed prop - very impressive with the DZ 140. I hope to get more practice this weekend - Mike is in Jacksonville, I am not able to attend - work got in the way.....
I am sure Mike has a template or digital file of that Dragon - I love it too.....
good luck with your finish - I will be laying up my fiberglass and getting the fuse ready for primer and painting soon.

Her I am with more ?'sOn the photes of the muffler brackets what are they an how are these used, I just cant figure these out. No Instructions for this.An on the photes of the covering an paint, I am not fiber glassing, I am Monotcoting except for the composites.I aplyed coving to balsa ( Insigna Blue )on both. On one I sprayed missle red with a top coat of Plasti-kote Super EnamelWith a great finish except as yoyu can see rain drops other that that it would have been perfect. An on the other I aplyed covering an then the plasti-kote Enamel with out paint an it blistered real bad so that one is out of the ? The first one has some hope, weather it will last

Her is a piture of the last plane I built, All I had was a set of plans An got the cores from Dennis Hunt for a Daddy Rabbit. The Black Magis scheme is just to complex for me an on the fiber glass, o- Well I have to much money an time involed in it to ruin it. So I am going to Lustrekote an monokote. I am pertty good on the iron an spry cans as you can see. With that what do you all think of this red, white an blue color scheme along with the need vinyal,s. Or how about a copy of this plane.

These colores have been used a long time in SPA with no complaints from the Novice, Sportman an experts in the SPA. As for me I have had no problems seeing the plane on turn-arounds. I have my first place awards in Novice an starting in 2007 will move up to Sprorsman. If this BM flys real good I will use it next year in the AMA.

If I have to undo the belly pan out at the feild infront of others I would like to hear, Damed that looks good. You know what I mean.

I'm back (sort of). Anybody that called or emailed me, you might want to do it again, I am plowed under by the volume. i'll try to get to everyone but it may take a bit.
Wendell, all you have to do is glass the underside with 2 oz glass and paint it. Monokote won't work very well here. But, if you're good, it may look fine.
yes I back the gear pants up with 1/8" ac ply and drill the axle hole, mount the gear pant and wheel, then line up the pant and drill and tap a 4-40 screw about 3/8" above the axle. This locks the pant in place.
As for the dragon, that's sort of my trademark
Cool though huh?

I flew Ryan McLauglin's Black Magic at Jacksonville. All I can say is what a fantastic airplane it is! He has an OS-160 in it and it flys very well. I fly a Pinnacle with YS power and I feel as comfortable with this airplane as I do with my Pinnacle.

Thanks Greg, I was wondering how you liked it. I had to go, I wanted to let you fly mine but I was having issues.....from wierd places. That YS does come with a price.....
Hopefully Ryan will post his findings soon. He said he was probably going to, and I told him to be brutally honest. Quite a few people have flown this plane now, and they all seem to say the same thing. So, I think that's a good thing!
