I already won the race [8D]
Give it time, the longest anyone has had one has been a few weeks, and it takes a little time to get going.
More content later, I'm in the stages of finishing 4 of these things. Sanding is my life right now, 16 hour days.........

Oh yeah what's that bottle down there? Heineken is the official beer of Black Magic Construction. Although tonight it's Pepe Lopez...

Wing adjusters
I have a method of doing this that works pretty darned good.
First, if you made that template and cut those holes in the fuse sides, you're in great shape. If not, do it now.
Sand your wing tube socket flush with the fuse sides.
Put some pieces of phenolics around 2 of the adjuster pins.
Elongate the rear holes as shown.
Install the wing, and insert the adjuster pins with the phenolic in the front holes (still circular at this point). This should set the wing exactly where you want it incidence-wise.
make sure your rear adjuster pins are centered in the adjusters. Install them through the holes and tack glue them with thin CA.
I use a 90 degree head on a dremel, with a drill bit installed. Now just punch the holes where the screws go through.
Remove the area of balsa around the hole with a piece of sharpened brass tubing. This provides relief for the screw head.
Now remove the wings, install the screws and nuts with loctite.
Put the wing back on, and this time repeat the process for the front adjusters using your installed rears to hold the wing in place.
Piece of cake, done.

Hi Mike and everybody,
It's been a long day starting with building the building table. I now have the most awesome 4 x 8' MDF table supported on really nice and stright 2x4s. I was able to finish the table quickly, trim out all the fuse former templates, then trim out all the balsa and lite pky formers. Mike I see my problem, it looks like F2 is supposed to be all lite ply. It was really a fun day, got a lot done. Hope to get the fuse sides cut and a start on the sheeting....
Mike I do have a number of questions: I will try an post them to this list... instead of just calling you...
My beer choice tonight was Imperial Stout, brewed in Athens, GA. Hen - but I will pick up some Heineken on the next beer run!
THANKS Mike for the AWESOME BLACK MAGIC!!
It's 2 am and I am ready to crash, I'll type more in the morning....
later all, Dean

Hello Mike and everyone,
I had a guest in the airplane factory today, Jim Ivy came by and got me going on my wing and tail sheeting. Things are starting up here, after the superbowl I am going to get back on the fuse formers... I'll write more later after the game...

But, Ocala beckons. If I don't practice soon I'm easy pickins. oh well, I'll be last place with a kool plane. LOL

Oh, and your shop floor is too clean for proper building proceedures. Throw a bunch of stuff on the floor, you're making me look bad

And I agree, wholeheartedly.
But from what I've seen, there's hope. Stay tuned.....

HI Troy,
Yes, I've got about two days worth of work into tweaking these formers. I drew the outlines in Adobe Illustrator, with center lines etc. This all will work well in the fuse jig that I have planned for later this week. These formers are AWESOME, I had fun with the inside lightning holes and shapes. I am going to rip out another set tonight with a few more additional tweaks, I am planning on building two airframes initially.
I am going to be running a YS 140 DZ - so I am using 3/16 ply 3/16 balsa firewall otherwise the rest of the material is per the plans. I have actually made 3 sets of formers so far. Each set is usuable but not as acurate as this last set.
Sorry but I won't be sharing my drawings at this time, hope you understand... but I'll take pictures of everything to show you how and what I am doing....
Let's see what your doing Troy?
You can recreate what I have done, I didn't do anything special here, and it only took me two days.... ; ) The interesting thing I discovered is that it was easier working in metric. I am building the fuse gig in millimeters.
I will be plotting fuse side templates and will print them out on roll paper just like I have done the former templates. the paper templates will have former stations printed in postition, this should make setting up the jig pretty freaking perfect. I will be using laser levels instead of the "String" method that Mike suggests - more on this later....., I'll be able to align the wing and stab tubes in the gig - this is going to FREAKING ROCK!!!!
I've got my digital scales coming in a few days, I will be getting my weight sheets going soon. Sorry that I have been only posting pictures with little text, I've been working like 20 hour days on this since saturday, been too busy drawing, cutting, drawing, cutting....
stay tuned - this Black Magic will be one BAD BAD BOY!!!
