Default Synergy 90 ARF

Hello all

Robert

I do not understand your question. I am naturally talking about the 90 3 D version of the Synergy? Synergy 140 3 D ......?!?

Earl

remember - the Synergy 90 3 D has been designed for a 90 size engine. With this engine we have tried quite everything. Up to now no failure.

If everybody is going to put a 110 on it, perhaps we will have to modifiy the design. I am going to get in touch with the constructer of the kits.
I keep you informed

Rgds

I saw it on the ZN site, so I was asking about it. Then Mark opened his thread on it, so...........

Hallo

As Mark reveiled a secret - yes there is a 140 AA Synergy in the line and we even think to make a version with composite wings ....

Default MARK - COWL PROBLEMS

HELLO MARK, HOPE YOU ARE WELL. THE TRIM COVERING IS PEELING OFF MY COWL. IT APPEARS THAT IT WAS NOT SEALED WITH A CLEAR COAT. WHAT BRAND CLEAR SPRAY PAINT WOULD BE COMPATIABLE WITH THE PAINT THAT IS ON THERE. I ALSO HAVE A NICE SIZE SEAM DOEN THE MIDDLE OF MY COWL THAT IS QUITE UN SEEMLY (NO PUN INTENDED). IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET A NEW COWL?
THANKS.

Default NYA Ultracote Paint from Hangar 9

Earl,
Ultracote has a compatible paint system available in the USA. The clear in that brand should do nicely in sealing down the covering. NYA Ultracote paint is available from Hangar 9.

On the cowl, unfortunately, that is the way the factory is making them. They are all delivered with a big seam down the middle. It was the same on the Madness. I will bring this to the attention of my boss here. It is done to keep costs down, but I personally believe that it would have been worth an extra few dollars to paint the cowl.

For now, I recommend masing off the colors, sanding, and spraying a little white on the top, then sealing the whole thing with the NYA.

I will copy and paste your post into an e-mail and forward it to the factory representative.

Thanks,
Mark

Earl/Mark

I used some of the Ultrapaint a while ago, they may have changed it since...but the stuff that I had would not take high nitro fuel (20% ...up). I think it would survive 15, but if you are running a YS likely you got the big stuff and the paint probably wont last long.

Default Automotive

Earl,
We are using automotive paint with clearcoat on our 2x2 models, we run 30% and never have a problem. It shoots right over the vinyl graphics and I imagine that it would work great on the cowl.

I am surprised to hear about the Ultracote paint. Thanks for the information.

Default NYA Ultrapaint

On the Horizon web site, I think NYA means "not yet available". It's not a brand name.

Default CLEAR COAT BRANDS

ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON GOOD NON-YELLOWING CLEAR COAT BRANDS TO SPRAY OVER THE SYNERGY COWL? I ASSUME THAT THE COWL IS PAINTED WITH ULTRA COAT PAINT OR IS IT AUTOMOTIVE?

Hi,
Just remembered this thread existed.
In the meantime I am almost finished building my Synergy.
Wow, I could have saved so much time reading first,
building later !
Well, great kit, I hope it flyes as good as it builds.
My two cents:
The exact ULTRACOTE colors are :
Deep Blue,Deep Pink, Bright yellow, Fluor Blue
and of course white.
(Just in case you need to "repair" things)
I agree, the canopy is too thin !
However, I attached it with oracover,
iron set around #2, about 1/4" of ultracote
sticks really well to the canopy and the iron
is just hot enough where the canopy plastic will
not distort. It will never come ff.
Happy flying
George

Hi,
Out of interest, would 9202s on the rudder and ailerons, and 2 3102s on the elevators (around 4 kg at 6V) do on the Synergy 90? All of them working at 6V.

Default 9202s would work fine.

9202s are good mid-torque servos, nice and accurate and a decent response time on 6volt. They would be fine. As far as the 3102s on elevator, I don't really know. I know how it's rates, but something about a mini on these big elevators is still ot right for me.

They would probably be best in that application when using the OS91FX instead of the YS91. With the YS and minis in the tail, there would be lots of extra weight needed to balance out well.

I would be using a YS 91 two stroke heli engine. Also, I forgot to ask, is the Synergy good for I nice session of quick and fast turn around aerobatics, or does it have a big wing that slows it down like the Funtana would? I suppose if I got it, I would ise something like a 15 x 7 APC, which going at 12000 rpm would meen the plane flies at a considerable pace. Would it handle it?

Default It's great for turn-around.

Robert,
The Synergy will do great in turn around as well as the modern continuous program F3A. It will fly every manuver in the latest FAI schedules, although it is not going to win any world championships, it can be competative in most regional competitions.

Although I do not advocate using heli motors in airplanes, I do not see why it would not be fine as long as it does not cook the motor.
Our 110 is turning a 15-8 at 9800 (that was on 20%, today we switched to 30% and I believe it was going more like 10,000), and the airplane goes vertical like a rocket. This kind of vertical performance is normally only found in seriouly overmotored airplanes, but the Synergy holds the weight of the 110 as it is made for that sized motor.

We are expecting some in on about 2 weeks and are not yet sold out. However, we do get an order or two per day. However, we will get more next month, and the month after, as long as we get the demand.

Default MARK/Y110 RPM/PROP

GREETINGS MARK, I NOTICED YOUR RPM NUMBERS ARE IN THE 10,000 RANGE. I HAVE RUN MINE ON THE BENCH A FEW TIMES WHILE I FINISH MY PLANE. LAST WEEK I GOT 10,150 WITH A RICH SETTING USING AN APC16X6 ON 30% MAGNUM. I EXPECT 10,300 ONCE IT IS BROKEN IN. I THINK THIS IS TOO MUCH RPM FOR THIS ENGINE. TALKING TO DAVE OVER AT YS (USA) HE SAID THAT THIS IS TURNING TOO FAST FOR THE GOOD OF THE ENGINE. THE POWER BAND IS BEST IN THE LOW 9000'S. I AM GOING TO TRY A 17X6 WHICH SHOULD GET IT DOWN TO 9,000 AND WILL PROBALLY BE BETTER FOR 3D FLYING. I COULD HAVE FLOWN TODAY BUT TOO WINDY IN GA. HOPEFULLY IT WILL STTLE DOWN IN A FEW DAYS. LOOK FORWARD TO FLYING IT.

WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THE THOUGHTS OF OTHERS ON THIS ISSUE.

Default You may be right.

I too think that 10,000 it high. Maybe and inch more in diameter. Maybe a 16x8. I think 17" diamter may be too much, but it is worth a try.

This is an incredible motor. I think it has about 98% of the power as my 120NC has.

Default You can add another to the owner list....

I picked mine up this weekend.

Very nice plane. Will start on it tonight.

Anyone have a set of wheel pants? The other owner sold them....
