Hi Papapone
I decided to get one of these,is their any additional advice on items neede during building of kit that you can think of?
Is the fixed gear included also the glass cloth for wing joyning - before HIRO ships it.
P.S My Fiesta is done cant get a photo to load up - my network is to slow, maybe you can email me at [email protected] and I can send the pictures to you to load them onto RCU

Hi Gerrie
You have to buy tank, fixed gear (see pic), system to fix underbelly (see pic), quick links, horns, pilot to glue in the canopy. Glass cloth is not in the kit.

Hi Papaone
I asked Hiro to include all the necesary items in the kit, in the meentime I studied all the info on his website to start preparing for the building process. Not so sure how the wingsadle is laid up in carbon-also if the engine-mount former and firewall should be laminated with carbon cloth before asembling of enginebox ,the carbon looks cool.

Hi
The more I look at the build photos on the website the more amazed I am. There is next to no fettling of parts needed. The plane appears to be almost self jigging. It is a work of art and I thought MK kits were the dog's dangly bit these kits are a whole new level.
What he is asking is for a kit is very reasonable considering the amount of effort that must have gone into the CAD alone to make such suberb fitting parts. I think I will be treating myself very shortly.

My Feedback: (121)
Hey Mike,
If you like building MK kits you'll LOVE the Addiction kit. I have one that I fondle regularly. MK kits are still very nice, but laser cutting makes for perfect parts fit. The Addiction parts fit is terrific which will reduce amounts of adhesive required. I'm sure the built up weight prior to finish is very light.
It cost me $750 US to get a kit delivered to my door, but worth every penny in my opinion!
Regards,
Will B.

I too am interested in this kit. I must have read all the pages of these thread about 5 times already. The only thing thats keeping me from getting these kit is that I might have a hard time building it. So far Ive built the MK Alliance, MK Sky Star and a few arc's and arf's under my belt. Do you think I can handle these 160 Addiction? Another thing thats holding me is that I don't have any experience in the finish department particularly the silk and talc finish. Oh well I did a cloth and epoxy resin finish once on my Alliance but not the silk and talc that I intend to use on the Addiction if ever I do get the kit.

HI Pmr
It's not difficult to build wooden kit if you're meticulous. So it's longer to do than a composite kit.
There are pics on differents forum to help you and also Hiro who 'll send pics and advices to you for that.
Fuselage is well to do with 25 g/m2 glass cloth and epoxy resin. After sanding, you have just to paint it as a composite fuse. For wings, stab and rudder I prefer to cover with plastic film like Oracover.
I did prévious pattern as Silent and Wild Beat with that.

Do you have the ratio that they use to make the mix for filling.
Is it dope to which they add the baby powder ? Hiro is sending silk with the kit to me, so just need to get the metod to use the talc.

Hi Gerrie
To put silk on balsa, I used nitrocellulosic liquid. I fix also silk in different points like leading edge, tips of wings, with glue. I don't have ratio, you mix the talc with nitrocellulosic until it's good to put it with a painbrush (like a gelcoat). You have to put paste and sand it several times to obtain a good finish.

Hi
These sites are incredible. The quality of the builds are amazing and I would actually love to sit down with one of these guys and ask a ton of questions.
Right now I have one big one. Why use silk? instead of GF cloth and epoxy and what is he using to stick the cloth down with.

Hi Papaone, and fellow addicts of PATTERN
Thanks alot for your inputs, you really us alot, one more question -nitrocellulosic is it the same as dope?
so here we go - first sand the fuse to near perfection
-fill all obvious holes...and sand again
-REMOVE ALL THE DUST
-wrap all the main components in silk and trim roughly
-apply the babypowder and dope to the componts
- let it dry and trim surplus cloth
- sand and check for imperfections ,fill with...sand again
-ready for basecoat white, let it dry and inspect carefully is this basecoat acryllic paint or epoxy paint?
lets say I want a duplicate scheme of ADDICTION -IS there a stensil available or how do they get all those lines
so perfect? Again what type of paint do thy use.
Acryllic..
Lets just fly Hiro in for a holiday trip to come and teach us.
Okay men come on in and fill in all the things I missed, when my kit arrives I want to be completly prepared to do the job meticuosly
Just want to get this paint thing on the Oxai standard , wish I was in the position to buy a finishe model ,but my submarine with the dollars does not want to survice.
Then on the otherhand it is very rewarding if you can coplete such a project personally .Never to old to learn.
