Hello
I glued balsa sheets on structure (aliphatic glue) and assembled the 2 wings in the middle with fiber glass 160 g/m2 on 18 cm wide on each side.

Hey papaone,
My Addiction is still safely packed in the box. I'm trying to clean my workshop (which meant actually finishing 2 other airplanes) plus family/life seems to be getting in the way
. I want to do a great job building it; so I don't feel really rushed to start.
Yours looks fantastic - great inspiration for me!
Thanks for posting the build photos!!

Hello Will
Thank you for theses good news.
Wing is almost finished. I have to cut the ailerons. But it's very easy, leading edges of ailerons are sandpapered in bevel.
Some pics with wing installed on the fuse to see how Addiction is beautifull.
the connection between fuselage, wing, underbelly is very accurate.
Thank to Hiro to have sent me a new canopy.

Hello Rune
Hiro is translating his website in english. I think it will be more simple for us to understand explanations of the pictures.
I'm doing this plane for a friend, only wooden building. My friend Jerome will totally paint the plane even wings. He 'll use silk and talc to glass areas.
Have you already an idea of design and colors of your Good Shot ?

Hi papaone
Do you know the weight of the completed airframe yet and how does it compare with the typical grp fuselage/foam wing model?
I'm also interested in what the finish is going to be - I think you mentioned silk/talc? If that is the method to be used do you have more details on the technique?
Regards
Roger

Hi Roger
Weight of the wing is about 700 g. If we add 120 g of Oracover and about 120 g of servo weight will be between 930 and 950 g. So it's similar with foam wing with light balsa core 1,5 mm.
Stab is light. Weight is 140 g (2 x 70 g) and carbone tubes is 10 g. I have not the weight of the differents parts of the fuse (only weight of fuse already built) . But an estimation of total weight of the plane equiped for exemple with yam is about 4700 g.
My friend prefers to paint on glass fiber and époxy resin. He is Hiro from Starcraft who sais us he uses Silk and talc.

Hi Claude,
Thanks for the information and links. It seems that the Addiction 160 will be reasonably light, although in an email Hiro has said that the Addiction 110 would be about 3.5 - 4Kg which seems quite heavy for a 110 sized model. I will try and get some of the Japanese pages translated if I can.

Hi Roger
I don't understand and translate japanese !!! I learnt English when I was young (first foreign language in French school).
May be somebody can help us by giving a link with a good translator japanese ---> english !
I aggree with you 3,5 kg is good (may be a little light when there is strong wind). I remember my Silent was 4400 kg and flew very well.

Hi papaone,
Please find attached a link to a Japanese to English translation web page.
http://www.excite.co.jp/world/englis...=JAEN&wb_dis=2
The web page translates Star Craft’s web page to English. The translation is not perfect at least not the grammar. The program can translate other Japanese web pages too by copy and past the URL in to it.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Henning

Hi Roger
I examined in détail design of Addiction 110. This plane is larger than others planes of her categorie.
So I think even 4200 / 4300 g is good for this plane because with design of wing (large area), wing area weighty is moderate. Quality of wooden parts are the same as version 160. So it will be easy to build it.
I love design of Addiction and as we can get wooden kit no built, it'll be cheaper to built himself.
Pictures of the 110 version :
Thanks to Stavros for his link.

Hi Claude,
Yes I agree that compared to my Infinity, that weighs 3.5Kg, the Addiction at 4Kg would have a similar wing loading due to its larger area, so that weight is not unreasonable.
The only problem in the UK is that importing from Japan, or the USA, (ie non EU countries) means customs will add 17.5% VAT to the price paid, so the cost of a model or equipment can become very high.
I've read the translated pages, but it's still not clear to me what is being used to stick the silk to the airframe, or fill the weave. Perhaps it's easier to use what we know - thin epoxy and lightweight glass.
Regards

Hi Roger,
I agree with you that the bigger area of the Addiction 110, means that we have approx. the same wing loading as the Infinity 90.
But as the two planes are equipped with the same motor (YS110), the power to weight ratio of the Infinity is better.
I considered the Addiction 110 as my next plane (which is perfect in almost every aspect) and also had correspondence with Mr. Hiro but I finally ordered the Surpass 90 (Infinity 90) as it is much ligher and much cheaper.
I also think that power/weight ratio of the Addiction 160 is much better than the Addiction 110.

Stavros

Hi Stavros,
I agree with your conclusions and certainly the YS110 in the Infinity has more than adequate power, although I would imagine the motor in an Addiction 110 would be powerful enough. For me, the final cost of the Addiction 110 would probably be 80% higher than the Infinity and while I love building I'm not that keen!!

Has the Addiction been finished and if so what is the final weight and has it flown? Pictures of the finished model would be good.

Hi Roger
Addiction finished somes weeks ago. I did only wooden building.
My friend will do painting.
Plane is still at home, but difficulty is to find a box to send plane to my friend.
See pic of finished wing.
