Gary,
I know how you feel, work does suck. I can't be there either and I'm having such a hard time getting any play by play. Well I'll be back at Huntsville and with a new plane. It will still be a V2, but it should look and fly great. I can't quit thinking about how bad I hate not being at this contest, but good luck to everyone

Had an amazing time this weekend with everyone.I would like to thank Emory for the great contest that he put on. Also big thanks goes to Mac Hodges for letting us fly at his amazing flying field. I was happy to see Chris Odom win this weekend( I callled for him the whole contest) It will be a close contest at the Nats between him and Blake. In F.A.I. only three of us showed up to fly and nobody really wanted to Judge F.A.I. so we decided to Judge ourselves and help each other better understand the manuvers and really get some good practice in for the Nats. I was finally able to get my setup in my Stylus pretty close to how I want my setup to be. Once again Thanks to everyone for a great time and i look forward to next time....

Another successful Peach Pattern Classic contest for the books. Way to go Emory! I've always enjoyed your contest and the southern hospitality at Hodges'. Anybody get the tail number on the model 35 that "low-passed" down Mac's runway DURING COMPETITION! Not too smart!

Had a blast up there at Hodge's again and another smooth contest. Thanks for the hard work Emory. I know Ryan, Blake and I had a great trip all around and lots of fun.
Steve (Lomcevak Duck) glad to see you were able to make it out to your first pattern contest. Missed you on Sunday. Hope to see you around a few more.
Here's pics of the results:
FAI:
Jason Shulman
Ryan McLaughlin
AC Glenn
FAI was shortened to 3 rounds and then we spent the remainder of the time practicing/critiquing each others sequences and making sure things were right. At the end of the contest we were flying better than we started.

OK, since Jason beat me to the scores, here are a few pictures. I would like to thank everyone fro coming out to the contest. Also, something I neglected to do at the awards ceremony, I would like to thank Melissa Hester for scoring the contest!.
I will try and post a more complete contest report, but for now, here are the basics. We had 28 pilots show up from around D3. We had a great NATS tune up for a contest. Not only did we have some great battles going on in almost all the classes (check out the scores Jason posted above), we were also able to import some of that Muncie summer air, complete with high temperatures. The temp were in the high 90's both days and the only thing that helped was that fortunately, the humidity wasn't too bad and we had plenty of shade. We saw many glow plugs being changed and several engine adjustments necessary. Also, winds were light and varied in direction.
Thanks,
Emory

Mr. Don Lowe was at the contest supporting his son, Jon. In the pic below, he is carrying Jon's Black Magic V2 to the runway.
The other picture is Chris Odom working on his "Monster Magic". This is a Black Magic V3 that Chris just flew for the first time the weekend before the contest.

Emory,
I know I wasn't there this past weekend but I did want to thank you for running a great contest. Chris and I really appreciate the friendships that we have developed from just a little over a year ago. Now I haven't, but Chris has grown a whole bunch since then. Hell I soloed him right after his fifteenth birthday, so I think he's come a long way. There's a small group of you guys that taken us in and I will be forever greatful for that. Again thanks for doing a great job as always.

You are welcome, Larry (who is Lawrence?). I don't think many us us would stick around flying pattern if we didn't enjoy the company we are keeping. It has been nice getting to know you guys too. BTW, I promise to get my Trex flying soon

"Uncle Larry".....LOLOL
Yep great one as always. I keep hoping I remember how to fly one day...so far, still searching....and making an appointment with the eye doctor to see if I can figure out what's up.
Humberto is looking good, Eric is improving steadily, Fuqua needs to quit zeroing stuff and get some flights in, Emory needs his own planes done, Steve is adjusting to masters, Joe needs to show up (LOL) and we ALL need to step it up a bit....such is masters right now.
Advanced....Marcio is BACK. He looks nats ready. Jon Lowe is flying better than ever and is going to be a handful come the nats. But the one to keep your eyes on to do well may be Bryan Kennedy, because he's flying better than he's flown in years. But really advanced is very strong class down here, pound for pound the strongest in the district in my opinion.
Intermediate...well, there's a new monster in town! (literally). Chris is looking very solid and impressive. Blake is too, those guys were 1 point apart going into the last round. I look forward to a great battle in Muncie, I think site 4 might be the real show! I think D3 is going to do well there. And if Austin gets his new plane done and gets some fuel through it, better add that one to the mix too.
Sportsman is seeing a good surge of new blood, and some good competition. Doug Harvell and Mike Williams had a battle to the last round as well, and in the end, Mike Williams pulled out the win.
Anyway, good stuff all around. lot's of fun, just HOT!!!!!!!
Thanks Emory, this one is always a great one to put on the calendar.

ORIGINAL: jim woodward. . .<snip>. . Hey - why did you guys judge youself (peer judging)? This was tried before, & sort of decided against, especially when the peer-pool is small. Anyway, I thought we were going back to the traditional judging/contest format.
Thanks - see you in FAI at the next one.

.
It's going to be the new standard if gas keeps rising. . . you just have someone in your home club judge you and then fax in your scores to the CD's house.

I didn't get a chance to take any pics. I managed this one of what the van looked like with the 3 Integrals and one of these 2 at the field.
OK, looks like my pics are 1 million GB or something... they are showing up huge on here. Stay tuned for them
Greg, did you pay Ron or John to take my shoes...

A.C. glad to see you in FAI. I flew my pattern plane for the first time in a few months Saturday and it was really fun. Hey - why did you guys judge youself (peer judging)? Not enough of the Masters pilots were comfortable with judging the sequences. As it turned out, I don't "think" that there was any issues as far as the scores that were given. But after 3 rounds we got bored and decided that it would be in our best interest to change from contest to clinic. Hopefully they will learn the sequences (like we have to learn Masters) so that they can either join with us in the peer judging or judge instead of us. It's still busy to judge and fly FAI, judge Masters and ask to judge other classes too.

EDIT: I was contacted by a Masters Pilot this morning. He was quite livid that he felt he was not given a chance to judge FAI, and assured me that if they were asked to judge, there would have been plenty of judges.
