I just wanted to post a reminder that the Peach Pattern Classic is coming up in 3 weeks. It will be held at Mac Hodges' field in Andersonville, GA on June 7th-8th, 2008. The field will be open for practice on Friday, June 6th. The competition will be open for all AMA classes and FAI will fly 4 rounds on "P" on Saturday and 2 rounds of "F" on Sunday (weather permitting). A flyer with more information is available on the D3 website at ... http://www.nsrca.org/d3/Event%20Flye...ern%202008.pdf
Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope to see a lot of you at the field!
Thanks,
Emory

I'm looking forward to seeing your new plane. The pictures your dad sent me looked very nice. I hope you get a chance to fly it soon. Let me know how it goes.

Guys,
I wish I could be there to see all these new Black Magics fly. It feels so good to finally put up my paints and painting equipment. I used 3 gallons of paint and believe I sanded 4 gallons off. Learning is hell, but I think it's going to be worth it. Now about this foamie war business, I'm going to get my new foamie heli and rip all you boys a new one. LOL Ya'll better be glad I gotta work.

I've never flown pattern before, but I'm thinking about giving it a shot. Would this be a good event to get my feet wet and study some good pilot techniques? I don't really have a 'pattern' plane, but I've got one that I think will suffice for the Sportsman routine.
Those of you who've been to this event, is it too big to jump into for a first timer? I do business with Mac quite often and I know some of his events can be quite large, not sure how this one has been in the past.

Steve,
If you can get out there on Friday, grab me by the shirt and lets get you going. Bring what you have and we'll start on the ground first, then work to the air. Try and study the Sportsman routine before you get there (if you can't practice before hand) so it's not a complete shock when flying.

Jason, that's a generous offer of your time, and if I can get down there on Friday I'll be sure to look you up. I would love to try this stuff. I don't think I have anything scheduled for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I'll PM you closer to the end of next week if I'm coming for sure.
I printed out the program you posted, and I'm sure I can get a little time in between now and then.

Hey Steve,
We would love for you to come over and give it a try! If Jason can't help you out, there will be 20 other folks that could. You don't need a pattern plane to compete. Bring what you have and give it a try. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
Hope to see you there,
Emory (CD)

Ditto what Emory and Jason said, Steve. Come on out, you won't be alone.
And it's not too big at all...even when it's big by our standards. You can't pick a better "first one" than this one. And my guess is that it'll be the first of many.

We had our "mini-contest" at Apopka today. 1- Sportsman, 0-Intermediate (yesterday was 1), 1-Advanced, 3-Masters and 2-FAI. It was a beautiful day, with about 10 in our face and a 5-o'clock Shuttle launch. Looks like there will be about 9 from Orlando making their way up there.
