Go Forward Plan:
District 3 Leadership and the NSRCA Judging committee need some involvement. I would suggest after a date is settled, that the registration fee for the Judging Seminar (yes, registration fee), be such that it can at least cover expenses to have an appointed person from the Judging Committee (maybe Don R.), come to the event and ensure it would be taught along the National standard with. Hopefully there are some funds available from the NSRCA to help sponsor the event. The event coordinator should help gain some sponsors so that we can offset conference room fees.
Guys - think professional event. We need to break out of a huge declining slump in prominance, attendance, & attitude, and create again the "clout" and "respect" given to the people who make the effort to teach and attend these events. We should have a lot of peer-pressure to get people to this(these) events. There needs to be a package of material given to each attendee. We should have the AMA video, as well as "special" videos prepared that describe what or how the judging committee interprests areas of ambiguity in the material. We might also have a flight-simulator handy in the classroom, that is setup to perfectly execute some of the maneuvers, and bad-variations of said maneuvers. All this taught according to a plan.
The field demonstratins are also executed according to a plan, in a crawl, walk, run phases where at first, individual maneuvers are flown and discussed, then 3 manevuers, then a sequence. All with intentional mistakes thrown in at times.
We need to set a new National Standard for precision aerobatics. The old way of meeting in a restraurent or something isn't going to cut it, to make any real change.
