Why not just grind out the horseshoe? Your mount will rotate some when the motor is running, not to mention the extra weight of the horseshoe. From what I've seen, it seems as though 6mm is the typical thickness for those, so you're adding a bunch of weight. I think you're overthinking and overcomplicating the problem.

Just food for thought.

I agree with Ryan,..I suggested this to another Element(wood arf version) owner. Just don't take all of it out,..you will still need the nose strenght for the sides.

Bill

Bill's right. Here's a picture showing how much I cut out of mine to mount a Hacker. You can do this much without losing strength and have no problem mounting a radial soft mount in it.

I flew my Element yesterday and I like it alot. I did have a problem however with the landing gear. After the third flight I noticed it sitting funny. I checked the landing gear and the left gear leg was buckled/broken. Anyone else having this problem? Does anyone make a gear out of aluminun that won't break?

Mark,

You definitely don't want aluminum. They would be way too heavy...

Can anyone help me? On a 5th flight, my Inspire 90 crashed due to wing snapping. Fliton admits that it is product defect but they are doing nothing. My receiver is completely dead and 1 servo is missing as the wing flew away. I lost the engine as one spectator stole it the.
Total damage is over $1000. I asked Fliton to replace the airplane but they are ignoring me. They dont respond on email and telephone.
