Hi guys,

Just to see the carbon Tcanaliser !

The kits flood our workshop ...

and the TC weight is 43.5grams

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

Amram,

I have similar weights more or less.

For example my fuse is 976gms

I'll be glad if my total is less than 4,7Kgs but I don't think so ....

amram 06-13-2006 06:23 AM

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

The final weight should not exceed 4.7KG and I have made a detailed excel sheet taking into everything including glue.
I am planning YS160DZ, with Hatori #821 header, Harori #822 Tune and Hyde mount.
The Canopy weights is 225 grams which is very high. According to Sergio after cutting it to the right size it will
end around 75grams. This is a substantial save of 150 grams. If this is true then it will get below 4.6kg which is great.
If not I will not use the original canopy and make a carbon canopy. Also, the Fire wall and other brackets will be changed to
honeycomb. This will give me a save of additional 30-40 grams. I think and I will make the effort to finish this model less then 4.6kg
It will take more time but now I am not in a hurry. I am planning on it for next year season.
Best regards
Amram

P.S.: I got an answer about the wings TE width but I want to double check few things with CPLR.
I will talk to him tonight and update.

Is the Tcanaliser available seperatly ?

tmark65 06-13-2006 11:05 AM

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

Yes, you can order ti as well the thermo-covers.
Contact with TS ...

In case you don't want to spend money Papaone sent me the drawings of Tcanaliser, so you can build it by yourself.
If you want I can send you the drawings.
PM me

Tmark, I'll have that dalotel if you're not using it! :D

Is the TCanaliser patented ?, i'm assuming there's no restrictions on reproducing for your own model ?

tmark65 06-14-2006 01:59 PM

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

I don't know,

Maybe Claude (Papaone) knows or he can ask CPLR.

Doesn't matter if it's patented or not. If it's for personal use and no profit is involved, you can always make one yourself. If you start selling them, then you may run into issues if you get caught...

Hello
No problem
CPLR himself gave us dimensions of T canaliser on french forum F3A.

Hi ,

Amram, did you get a final answer as to the TE issue? Curious as to the response as it seems CPLR is still using thick TE.
Also has anybody finished one yet? What CG and tail incidence did you use? the manual I have doesn't mention either.

And lastly , has anybody got one in the air yet?

Thanks...

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

It seems we have the answer. CPLR is using his original ZN like foam wings (and who wouldn't want that over composite) with the thick TE's and a TS composite body.
TS seems to have made their own wing with the "old Fashion" if thats the correct term, thin TE's.

Now all of this leaves us with a something to think about.
If CPLR is using a wing with think TE's on a body/wing cut out designed for thin TE's you'll be ending up with the wing with positive angle of incidence! Hummm.

You're assuming the leading edges are the same also !!!

Tommy, indeed I was...
the mystery deepens.

Has anyone mentioned the stab yet?
At least the name is original.

bla bla,

Not sure if your positive incidence suggestion was a joke. The thick trailing edge will be acheived if you dock the rear of the wing therefore reducing the cord of the wing. This will not change the incidence. All you need to do then is fill the small gap on the fuselage wing saddle.

Hello
To obtain thick trailing edge, we have to cut it. So incidence of the wing is the same.
I think there is difference thickness between personal wing's CPLR/wing's ZNline and TSComposite 's wing
because fabrication of TS Composite is made in mold. It's easier to do normal trailing edge in mold.

Hello Claude!!!

As previously asked by me and others, do you know / can ask CPLR for his control throws?

Maaaaaaaaaany thanks!

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

Very interesting Papaone.
So what you are saying is that you reduce the cord of the original wing thus creating the thicker TE's.
What's the reduction... a couple of cm along the span? Quite considerable if so.
I have noticed that certain French Oxaly's seem to have, what appear to be smaller wings. I could be an illusion but it is backed up by what you're saying.
This smaller wing theory is something that has intrigued me for some time. I believe that todays, super large, super light and super powered F3A planes just don't need as much wing as we've seen used in the passed... a smaller wing easing the transitional differences to KE. In other words a reducing the lift differential between flying on the wing, and flying on the body.

Hi,

I am very surprised that the wing and stabs are thin on this Oxalys, especially when it was to be a replica of CPLRs model. Will change the flying characteristics of this model dramatically from CPLRs model, I think TS should have made this clear before selling them. Maybe this configuration will be better, who knows but would hate to think they are thin TEs for manufacturing reasons

bla bla 06-20-2006 05:57 PM

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

No, I think it's an absolute genuine, oringinal Oxalys wing. Just like was originally designed.
The thing is that CPLR has modified his own wings to suit his personal taste. It may or may not be a good modification... time will tell.
I think the TS Oxalys will perform superbly without any noticeable difference to the average punter like us here.
Of course they must be allowed to make some slight comprimises because of their production technique and that's understood.
No, hats of to them for bringing the model to he market at such and affordable price.
My comments about the TS's are from a personal interest point of view and in no way intended to be a criticism towards the producer or indeed, distract from the pleasure any TS owner will experience with the model.
Enjoy it.

I agree totally and commend TS on a fine model , my only point is that for me a big reason for my interest was because of the thick TEs, something a replica of CPLRs WC model would have , but it is a fine model and have no doubt it will be a nice flyer...

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

Hi
the reason for thin TE is noise.
This weekend i meet the head of TS Composite Mr. Morbidelli that give me my model, and it tell me that a thick TE make more inflight noise that thin and in EC 2006 and WC 2007 CPLR use the new full composite Oxalys from TS.

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite

Hello
Thanks for information
a little summary : there are 3 kind of one piece wings (I don't account 2 pieces wings's Oxalys)
1) foam and balsa 8 mm TE wing sold by ZNLine and includes in kit Oxalys
2) foam and "kraft" paper sheet 8 mm TE wing, special build by familly PLR.
3) composite wing of TS Composite with thin TE

The design of the wings item 2) and 3) are different of wing's Oxalys kit.
Cord in middle of wing's CPLR lenght is different of 1 cm and the "fléche arriere" is more little. At end of wing, distance between at the arriere of wing and horizontal line is more little.
A+
