RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
I fly my oxalys evolution whit axi f3a , apc 22/12, esc jeti spin controller 99, 5100 mha batt, weight 4987 grams. this fly very slow whit this prop, I think is better whit more pitch, down line is absolutly slow.

RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
on saturday i did my first flight with the oxalys:
Axi F3A, APC 20x13, esc jeti spin controller 99, Tanic 3650 mha batt weight is 4955 grams CG is 194 mm from leading edge, but it seems to change to around 210 mm Christopher |
RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
Mine's been flying since early March, now with just under 30 flights on.
Some building/ assembly issues which have already been discussed, but overall a great package. Powered with YS 1.60DZ, weight w/o canaliser, approx 4.9kgs. Doesn't seem to mind the weight in the air at all. Flies very smooth and straight, all control surfaces very powerful, I'm using fairly small (IMO) throws. CG is at 260mm from the (actual, not cutout) trailing edge of the wing, and I still think that's on the conservative side, even though it's much further aft than in the instr's. I'm flying without the T/C at the moment, to see how I get on, and so far I see no need for it (but I'm also not one of the top fliers!). Maybe for the FO-schedules............... The engine's a jewel (but then most of you know that already!) Good flying to all. Bill. |

I would like to ask for an apologize from myself and the rest of you guys in this forum, since for almost two years I didn't put my hands on this model
Many things happened since then, a transfer far away with my job as well a new baby son in the family. Finally I took the decision to start building it, I have all the staff so why not. I started two nights ago and in total 5 hours firewall, engine position and nose ring are in position. Here I am ......... **** Update, 8th May 08 Teh wings are installed and starting to work on the tail. Stabs needs a lot of cautiousness ... so be patient |
RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
Hi everyone,
Recently I have brought a Oxalys 2nd hand and I would like to clear up one issue before i maiden it: Would any one know the Center of Gravity from the leading edge? I have balanced it and it weighs in a long way back from the leading edge........[sm=50_50.gif] |
RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
Firstly I assume it IS the TS one? (the wing planform is more swept-back than the standard ZN ones I've seen!)
My TS one was initially set at 190mm aft of the straight LE section, or 265mm forward of the wing's (true) T/E next to the centre cutout. So much further aft than in the TS instructions (165mm aft of L/E). Seems to be similar to other owners' experiences. I have since moved the CG a bit further aft with no detrimental effects. (moving the battery to the servo tray and removing forward ballast). Hope this helps, I'm sure other fliers will be along shortly............................ |
RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
Hi Tmark. I see you'll be installing a 2-stroke (OS RX?). What exhaust system will you use; I was going to use my Webra1.45 but couldn't get any standard 2-stroke pipe to fit within the bellypan/ fuz cutout without cutting some aft fuselage away (system too long). So I went YS and haven't looked back...........................
Just curious is all! Bill. |
RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
Bill,
Thanks for the info, it is a ZN-line and currently balances 180mm from the L/E at the root. Would the figures be similar to the TS one? |
RE: Oxalys Evolution full composite
Hi & Happy New Year!
The ZN and TS versions have different sweepback so I'd advise checking with a ZN Oxalys owner! Sounds about right tho' I've been told that ZN specify, 245-265mm FORWARD of the T/E of the wing (which sounds like approx where you've got it) so if you're close you should be safe. (you could also ballast for test-flying and adjust to personal preference). Regards, Bill. |
