RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
I have a question for you radio experts. I have uninstalled the old HP22 Version and installed the new HP22 version. I then upgraded my radio to the 1.08 firmware. Everything worked fine. I then went to check my radio with my plane and I noticed I now do not show the voltage of my reciever on my radio anymore. I then went back to firmware 1.06 and I have the voltage back. What is the deal. I am sure one of you experts will be able to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Does 1.08 upgrade also require an RF module upgrade?

Brendan, the "failsafe" update that is done for Rxs to in SW version 2.0 of 1500 micro seconds is the time allowed for a low voltage transiet before the Rx goes to failsafe?
Thanks

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Well I did it. I jumped on to the 2.4 wagon & bought an Aurora 9 radio set. He is my question. I did the purchace on Nov. 30 2010. I took it home & was going to fool with it the next weekend as I had no time til then. Well, as it went, I had surgury for some arm troubles on Dec, 2nd, & it was just yesterday, (March 8th) that I even opened the box to the radio that I bought in Nov. In the box is an offer for a free 7 channel receiver, or one free one & a second at 1/2 price. (39.99) I went to Hitecs web site & now I see that an offer for the same things is on now, But the radio has to be bought between Jan & Apr 2011. So, does anyone know if I lost the ability to get this offer or not? I e-mailed Hitec & have not gotten a responce as of yet. I still have not had time to read much of the manual for this thing. I sure hope it is easy to understand. Bill

Back when the original offer for the receivers had expired, the answer to your question was that all coupons would be honored, even though the offer had expired. Hitec is usually pretty good about such things.

To the guys that gave me advice in the previous posts.
Thanks for the advice, Although I won't have an opportunity until this weekend, I plan to turn off the antivirus so that I can download the HP22 software. Also, from what I have read, I will have to upgrade my A9 which is currently 1.06, my module on the back of the A9, and my receivers. Is that correct?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I thought the 1500ms was the pulse of the signal sent to the servos. i.e.: Loss of signal, set set pulse width to 1500ms.

I have a question, I installed the Hpp-22 on my computer and got to the place where they want you to download the data from the radio to the computer, its been sitting here with the blue light flashing for almost 30 minutes and still not done, how long is this going to take?

it takes only a minute or two. You will know when it starts as a bar will open and show update progress.
Is the transmitter on? When you look at the window that shows the transmitter and the instructions do you see a message on the lower left that says "transmitter not connected" Most of the time when Ihave trouble Ihave plugged somthing in wrong.
Take the usb connector out of your computer and plug it in with the window open.
Good luck

ok Imissread your question. You are trying to load model data from TX to computer it seems. When you get things connect and you select data upload to computer, you have to go to your transmitter screen and I think hit the model name you want to upload data and I think another menu button on Tx to upload. It does one model at a time. I just did it a few days ago but do not remember exact details. Each model takes I am guessing less than one minute to do.
Have fun!

after checking things out I believe the down load from the radio to the computer is not what is going on, The HPP-22 is definitely downloading something but there is no screen to show what . Is there any screen I can go to that shows what is being downloaded?

Well it does what you tell it. If you select update and Tx then it putsnew software into the TX from the web. If you select data then you get a menu on you rcomputer that asks which way...to TX or to computer. Once it starts you get a progress menu. Do you get such a thing?

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
The only thing I can think is it is downloading from the web but I should have a progress menu which I don't. All I see is that blue light in the HPP-22 blinking which shows its doing something. The screen I get is the one with the picture of the aurora with 2 buttons one for data save to radio to PC and one data Load to from PC to radio. this is been going on now for an hour. I am about ready to shut it off and start over.

You have to select upgrade mode.
Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP7vxn4SLjY
1500ms is the pulse width sent to the servos... 1500ms is center with the range being 900-2100ms from end to end.
Mike.

Well, I be, I found out you have to have the radio off to access the download screen. I have been sitting here an hour trying to do something I could have done in 10 minutes. thanks Mike.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Thought I would report that i got my two rxs from hitec today 1 free and the other at half price deal. I think I shipped that letter and info out like two weeks ago, wow that was fast. I'll have to give hitec an A+ for that and that gives me the feeling they truly are considerate of their customers. All i can say is spectrum/jr and futaba move over I think we may have a new leader in the radio dept. I think Hitec has hit a homerun with their system, ive got to use it a little more now and i think my teething is done and I have as much if not more faith in this system than my futaba 10c now. I have sat and thought about all the things that usually ends up with a model coming to the ground because of mechanical failure is not usually an equipment failure. I have lost one plane in 15 years to a radio system and that was interference on fm, I have never lost one to a switch, battery, rx, or tx failure. Now I have lost a couple due to the battery power being to low and me not being the wiser of it. So the battery telemetry on the rx is probably the one most important safety feature for me, now I know when that battery is low and to not fly or bring the plane to the ground asap. Best of all the batterty telemetry is built into the rx for free. Well I am hoping to try my other telemetry stuff out this next week maybe and will post to see how that goes. Still got to update my stuff not sure how to do it yet or what components i should or needs to be but I will cross that bridge in a few days.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Folks if you are looking for an Aurora 9 system, A Main Hobby has A9/7 Channel for $350 shipped. They also have a $25 off coupon. So between their offer and the Hitec free Rx offer you can get an A9 with two 7 Channel Rx for $325 shipped. It does not get much better than that. I bought my A9 last March from A Main and they were very prompt. These offers are good to the end of April Ithink.

The A Main ad liink and the coupon code are pasted below.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Hi to All,
I'm really enjoying my Aurora 9 and have well and truly retired my Futaba 6EX. But now I want to do some instructing and I need advice on what cable (if any) will let me use the Aurora 9 as the master and the 6EX (fairly new..square pin) as the slave.
Any advice appreciated, as usual!
Thanks
Beej

A. Hitec provide two training lead accessory packs:
#58320 TRAINER CABLE (between 6 cell transmitter battery systems)
[Do Not Attempt to substitute/use a standard stereo cable as the Hitec cable plugs are cross wired]
#58321 TRAINER CABLE FULL PACKAGE (#58320 + Slave DIN + Master DIN) - For use between a 6 cell transmitter battery system and 8 cell transmitter battery system. (NB: All 8 cell type TX used as a Slave, must have own power supply, i.e. a battery pack installed, refer instructions.)

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Thanks - I saw these but it was not clear to me whether the slave round-type DIN on those Hitec cords would fit the square-type micro plug on the back of the more recent Futaba Tx's. Didnt look like it to me from the images I could find.
Of course, happy to be wrong - it would be a straightforward solution.
Thank you!
