Fuel Level Sensor.

Will the Fuel Level sensor work on Kerosene? My Jet has a plastic tank (Like Glow fuel tank)? It would be great to be able to see fuel level on Jets since they use so much fuel compared to glow engines.

I have read that it does not work with Gasoline, but I have not heard why. Yes!! It would be useful.

nope doesn't work with gas, i tried it and then finally read about it and the only thing I found was that gas is not dense enough for the sensors to work, but glow fuel is. So on jet fuel I would say it may or may not, but it does work with glow fuel I am installing it in a glow plane now and have tested it in the shop and it works great

Hi

I don,t own a jet , but wouldn,t Kerosene be as dense as glow fuel ?

Hi,

This is another case where understanding how the fuel gauge works would be valuable.

If referring to "dense" (density) means viscosity I think that kerosine is more viscous than glow fuel.

The question becomes "what is the sensor sensitive to ?"

Anyone out there willing to share the knowledge ?

No known test but consider very doubtful given:
Dielectric Constant of some common Liquids
Methanol (Methyl Alcohol) (31.1 ) ( or at 68° F = 33.1)
Petroleum 2.0-2.2
Kerosene (70° F) 1.8

"6. Fuel Level Sensor:
Is for Glow Fuel only.
"The problem with gas is that its' density is much lower than glow fuel, or water for that matter, even with oil mixed; thus the sensors cannot detect it. I'm not sure if we will be able to overcome this with the existing sensors.Mike."
Sensor - suggested reason for problem IMO close. "

Oh God yes, zero… but I won’t have time to respond to your typical modus operandi of delving into the minutiae of word parsing, your boring tales of tangential trivia, and your incessant barrage of justifications and word-play excuses when you are called out on your flagrant misunderstanding of simple theory.

But here's a little hint... they don't really measure "levels".

Roger,

Thanks for your valuable time to respond. It is much appreciated.

I think I am not alone intereted in how fuel sensors function as used in model airplanes or helicopters.
You seem to know as you first wrote "Oh God yes," ___I cannot figure outthe interpretation of the word "zero" immediatly following.

I have tried unsuccessfully to find a picture of this (these) sensor(s).

Perhaps someone can post sucha picture or a link to one.

Of course a level sensor is not practical as thefuel is movng nearly constantly with the model maneuvers in the air.

Some indications are that the fuel acts asthe dielectric of a capacitor and the capacitor value could be measured in terms of a circulating AC current flowing through it.

READERS ___
Do not take the previous paragraph as a fact. It is only a suppositon of a possibility.
No doubt the answer is simple after the developer has spent a long time to figure out a way of measuring the fuel quantity in the tank.

Those who do not care how things work will just say that Zor is trolling.
If being curious to learn more istrolling then "let it be".

A little more knowledge does not hurt anyone.

Have a great day,

Zor

Hi All

I have made up an Aurora 9 programing spreadsheet that I would like to share

It will allow you to put all your model settings into a printable spreadsheet................. yeah I hear ya why not just back it up to a model set with the HPP-22?

Well I will when my HPP-22 that is on order arrives, but I also like to see the settings and will still use it, so if you are interested there is three versions, all the same except for the amount of model pages pre-made. There is a 10, 20 & 30 model versions

If you get any of them, you can always make new pages by just copying a blank page

Hope you find it useful as I do and if you have any suggestions for changes, would be more than happy to look at.

First attachment below is 10 model, then 20 & 30

Mike, would it be ok to post this on the Hitec service page?
Did you some software for putting the data in your speadsheet?

There appears to be a problem with this thread. Perhaps a Moderator should take a look.

There are definitely some strange things happening to this thread. Someone needs to look at the error message and delete whatever is causing this problem.

If you are wondering why so much redundancy in my last post, I was advised to try and push this thread into Pg 139 to correct the problem or bypass it.

This TX uses a 6 cell nickel metal hydride battery. I am using a Sirius Super Test for cycling 4/5/8 cell batteries. It doesn't look like it would support the cycling of this battery. I suppose my options would be: get another charger/cycler, buy a 7.4v lipo, or turn on the transmitter and let the battery run down. That sounds kinda hokey and inaccurate to me.
